- The Blarney Pilgrim is an Irish jig made famous by its appearance in the Titanic film, where it was played by the band Gaelic Storm. In this fiddle lesson I demonstrate the basic melody, with suggestions for bowing, and then suggest suitable ornamentation including bowed triplets, rolls, cuts, and double cuts.
I use onscreen sheet music, and a free pdf of the sheet music for The Blarney Pilgrim is available to anyone who subscribes to the channel (see below). There are plenty more tuition videos on Irish fiddle tunes and techniques elsewhere on The Fiddle Channel.

I did not know where to make this comments, so I guess the latest recording is the best place. Today I joined Patreon for a minimal cost per month. It entitles me to all of Chris' PDF's, which I never bothered to look at. But this morning I did. The transcription of these is so clear and easy to read, and it no doubt the most valuation combination of the transcriptions of fiddle music I have ever seen in my 45 years as a musician. His comments often speak about the importance of the chords and the simple melody. It is right there in his transcriptions, and he shows ways to add notes within the chords. This is the way to play the violin, so often overlooked by training programs such as Suzuki, and most others. Suzuki shows scales, but it doesn't do a thing for helping the student to understand what he/she is doing. The subscription to Patreon is by the month, but I don't think I will ever cancel my subscription unless Chris quits doing this. Meanwhile any teacher or student are really missing something if they don't visit fiddlechannel and join Patreon. Incredibly good. I am not compensated by Chris in any way.
Frank, many thanks for this vote of confidence!
Thanks Chris. I especially loved your Kevin Burke transcription!
Thanks Michael!
Meant to say I jointed Patreon about a year ago.
