- Back in the 1960s and 1970s, Hollywood experienced a remarkable shift, marked by an air of coolness that has had a lasting impact even to this day. This shift was largely due to one man, Steve McQueen. McQueen wasn't just any actor; he had a special charm and charisma that captivated viewers on the big screen.
All of this was quite fascinating, but an interview I saw with James Garner, who actually lived next door to Steve McQueen in Hollywood, said their Feud had more to do with Steve McQueen not getting the part in "Grand Prix", which James Garner did beautifully!
Was there ever a movie about miniature golf? If not, they could make one and call it Grand Putter Prix. Gentlemen, prepare your putters.
McQueen KEPT it REAL. Unlike Them.
Most of his movies still hold up.
Steve had some issues, insecurities, and thats discernment not Judgemental, yet his performances werre excellent.
Yul Brenner didn't work with him a 2nd time after Magnificent 7.
What's funny is Yul Brenner asked for McQueen to be in Magnificent Seven because wanted to work with him. Then he hates him and did not want him in the sequel.
Steve hated dead lizards and demanded they be removed from all movie sets
I'm sure there are thousands of stories of issues between celebrated actors. If the directors did not want the opinions or succumb to requests of actors, they could just say no.
We all have issues at work.
The legal issues after McQueen died show how much others still wanted to capitalize on his persona.
I saw Newman race his Z car in 1982...Palm Beach...the first turn there was only one car showing brake lights....guess who?? ...true story.
Not surprised. Punk. Commie.
So what
The Cooler King
McQueen had too many demons in his head that ruined his better angels. To his credit visited kids at orphanages, talked about fast cars, and gave our model kits. He had a rough life as a child, so he felt for them. But, that does not negate that he was abusive to his wife, Ali Mcgraw. When someone resorts to violence to another, then all his good is gone.
oh bullshit she and his kids still gush over him
McQueen NEVER spoke I"ll of them IN PUBLIC. McQueen was a BOX OFFICE SMASH compared to Garner, and MOST actors. The KING of COOL, screw THEM.
James Garner was a highly decorated soldier in WW2 AND Korea, including the Purple Heart in both wars. I loved McQueen. He was the better, more interesting actor. Garner was a real-life war hero. McQueen was an ACTOR ! I KNOW WHO I WANT NEXT TO ME if the shit hits the fan, not a egotistical scene hog.
@@theimp5901 And Garner was equally or more talented a race car driver than McQueen and Newman.
@@fredbloggs6080 Yes indeed Fred
IMO....Garner and Newman were the better actors. Steve was always Steve. He never melted into the character....
I can't stand when these narrations keep repeating the same thing over and over for 5 or 10 minute, and then come back in another segment and repeat the same stuff again.
McQueen the most over rated actor
This I understand but only my opinion he was ok in the magnificent seven
👍
