channel is honestly so underrated it’s insane
I've grown quite a bit just from pullups and dips. Massively underrated
Yeah I enjoy doing dips more than push ups
This quote is spot on. So many punks out there that don't understand this and they wonder why they're so small.
"Just being good at pull ups and dips would build an incredible upper body by itself. Those two things. If you got really good at pulling your body weight up and dipping really well, enough to where you got so good that you could do 15 reps of both those no problem so that you'd have to add weight, you would have an amazing upper body. Guaranteed.
Weighted dips are insanely great for the upper body! Bodyweight too
Great tip Adam, I'll try that - tension from starting low to warm up.
I can do sets of 15 Dips and Pull Ups…Thanks for the validation. Makes a hell of a super set🤘
I'm 62yrs old 17st and can do weighted dips they are hard at first but become easy really quickly.
This is a great channel. I don’t know how I found it. But it’s so dope.
Having a strong core is very important for dips as well, keeping your core tight/braced is required to maintain good form for dips (weighted and high rep). You might have strong shoulders and triceps but if your core is lacking you will shake the whole way down/up and won't get past a few reps before you give out. Having good shoulder stabilization strength and stabilization endurance will make your dip strength/endurance go through the roof.
I think this may be my problem, as my whole upper body has got much stronger but I still find dips to be very challenging, going to work on this, thanks
Dips are really difficult to do more than a few, I might get a resistance band just so I can really get a bunch done.
I’ve done 90lb pull-ups and 135lb dips.. great exercises
Ur back is nice af bro👌🏽
@@Sam-ni6bc thanks champion
So I started around 345lb 2 years ago, dropped down to 250lb with diet and work, my skin was sagging & i had a turkey neck. But then i started lifting regularly! Now I'm up to 275lb & im looking the. Best I ever have, I do like 5 sets of 6 on the full body dips, & I'm benching 225lb for 6,
Dips for me have been my main movement to replace the bench press. I'm not a fan of pinning my back on a pad.
Dips also have amazing carry over for bench and the press.
Upper : dips, chins, and ohp
Lower: front squat rdl hip thrust
Can do three sets of 8 dips with 15kg added on.
When I start at the top, I lower myself deeper for the first 5 reps till I'm comfortable going to parallel then I do my fullset.
👍
Another great 5 min snippet. Some of the best advice in the biz. Gotta disagree on the 15 count for dips / pullups meaning you have a great upper body. At least mine doesn't look like one SMH
Compared to who though. Compared to a fitness model or average joe. If you can do 15 well controlled dips you should look pretty good compared to most people.
@@tedjustadmitit.1540 I’m still pretty high fat in the lower 20s. I don’t think I look good w/ the shirt off but clothes on I just look like an average lifter. My warmups now are lunges pull-ups dips before getting into the weights
@@anishphi1 an average lifter looks better than most of society especially here in the states. most people arent rolling around with their shirt off. Im at 15 percent body fat or so ectomorph so when i have my shirt on no one would take me for someone who lifts really. id say you have the advantage. cheers
@@tedjustadmitit.1540 true brother, social media has skewed the idea of averages
5:15 That's exactly how I gained strenght to do not only dips but pull ups, too.
NIce!
Dips are the best upper body exercise period.
💪
Imo pull ups are better
Love doing dips. I usually try to do 20 reps in each set.
I can do Weighted pull ups. But I just started incorporating dips best front delt builder. Front felts were lacking and I started doing them amazing gains can’t wait to progress with weighted
As for boxers how come we always have shoulder pain when doing dips
use a slingshot to fix sternum and shoulder pain for all presses, dont go below 90 degrees, and use a dip grip where ur externally rotated
Would you guys ever suggest a dips/pull-up/squat routine to any of your clients?
Ive been doimg weighted calisthenics like you mentioned, and I do full body every other day. Ive absolutely gotten way stronger and even bigger.
I’d to, for both beginner and even some people who had lift for a long time can still benefits from some good weighted pull up or dips
Squats, pull-ups, dips, straight-leg deadlifts, sit-ups.
I've injured my shoulder twice badly while doing dip and Im not gon do that excercise again
Then you were going too deep to get that injury
@@BlizzardWind99 exactly, I figured it out the problem after a while
I just did 35 negative dips. I think this is the best way.
i can go about 20 body weight dips with an added 10lbs medicine ball in between my legs but i don’t have a great upper body i’m a twig😂
It depends on the absolute load. For me I'm 140lbs and I can dip 45lbs for sets of 5 to 8. That is not nearly as impressive as someone who's 200lbs dipping 25lbs. I'd say if you wanna be huge you gotta aim to dip at least 300lbs total for sets of 8 to 12
