If the dwarfish language is based on insults I am surprised that it isn't every goblins native tongue.

The thing about the dwarven insults is that there are propably very clear rules on insulting, with codified phrases and subjects that shouldn't be broached. And Goblins aren't that big on rules.

Skarsnik is hilarious to me because he's a green skin with some intelligence he went and caught a writer to give himself a PR campaign and terror story for the empire, making him seem bigger to other orks cause the humies are talking about this Scarsnik whos scaring the shit outta them with his story.

I like Arch's lore videos more than onemindsyndicate, because he translates everything he learns and is retelling it, where as they just read it from the wiki pages directly and call it a video (I know this because I literally went to the wiki page of one of their lore videos and they repeated it word for word and called it 40 facts.) Arch spends time and energy and it shows.

Arch is the best, oms is ok, LT does also do great lore, lutein, but he doesn't make me laugh like arch, arch is awesome, one of my favorite is Tuska demon slayer lore

When I woke up I decided to check on youtube on my phone for a bit only to find your video uploaded a bit ago...then I thought to myself "doesn't he upload lore every friday?......... OH FUCK DID I SKIP WORK GOD FUCKKKK" rushing to get ready for work only to find out when I got into the car and turned on the radio to hear "How is everyone Saturday morning?" You forgot to mention that Skarsnik knows very well that if the Skaven ever send an army back to the upper levels, it won't be led by a two-bit Warlord, but by Queek Headtaker himself, and everyone in Karak Eight Peaks knows to fear that insane rat. As such he is happy with the current status quo. He is famous enough that he gets Orcs and Goblins flooding into his army, and he has set up a command chain so well organized for Greenskins that he can happily go on Squig hunts and still his territory in Karak Eight Peaks will remain relatively safe.
Of course the Dwarfs and the Skaven aren't happy with the current status quo. Which is why the Dwarfs still send expeditions to assist Belegar and reclaim more parts of the Karak, while the Skaven constantly disrupt any Goblin and Dwarf movements in the upper levels.
He protecc, he attacc but most importantly he own a Karacc.

Goddamn i LOVE Old World lore. And no body tells it better than Arch. He's literally the only channel I've seen that appreciates the tongue in cheek, silliness of Warhammer.
I suspect what actually happened regarding the Dwarf Language bit is that Skarsnik just picked up on whatever sounds a dwarf made to another dwarf that caused the other dwarf to get mad, said the same to another, and either guessed what it meant or had it explained to him later, and being a goblin, happily...exaggerated just a bit to make himself sound more impressive to the writer.
This might also explain some of the more outlandish ways he got out of some tight pickles (ex. jumping into a creak known to empty out through the mountain, had a scout with him that led the escaped and led the wolf riders to the place, etc.).
God I love Greenskin lore, you really have a talent for telling the stories of Orcs and Goblins.

Considering that Skarsnik himself narrated this biography, is it entirely beyond the realms of possibility that he lied about learning the entirety of the dwarven language? Since they communicate in insults, he probably learned a lot of those and then, it's only a matter of figuring out which one serves his purposes best.
Well the book never makes it sound as though he has a firm grasp of the language, he knows mostly curses he overheard from multiple dwarf prisoners over countless years. But any amount of khazalid from a grobi is enough to send dwarfs into a murderous rage

2 issues with this story 1.Anything that involves trust and Skaven dont mix (From what you told in your skaven lore they will kill eachother for a Cookie) 2.How did he not suspect being betrayed
"trust" is more like "can stab in back later", and not suspect being betrayed is more like he thought he'd betray him more effectively.
Skarsnik promised him a literal pillar of warpstone, and he did suspect being betrayed. He didn’t bring all of the skaven leadership, like arch incorrectly stated, he went alone with Skarsnik taking a retinue of his strongest stormvermin as bodyguards. He intended to kill Skarsnik, but Skarsnik had set an ambush and the only reason it worked is because the goblins heavily outnumbered the skaven. Seriously, read the story it makes so much more sense than how arch describes it.
Arch if I ever win some great award, I want you to be the one who recounts the events that let up to said award. Love your lore videos!

I can remember the massive rivalry between Warlord Skarsnik and Warlord Queek the Headtaker, which didn't get mentioned or was that rivalry later events?
recently I've been really getting into the lore of warhammer (mainly goblins).
Listening to +2 tough his great lore videos and reading some short storys myself. planning to get the bad loon rising.
Anyway since this novel is hard to find on paperback I ended up at this video, and I am glad I did!

So Dwarves just roast the fuck out of each other all the time lmfaoo that's great.
His wolf riders followed him into the tunnels, the novel spells that out pretty blatantly. Also, they didn’t ambush the Backstairs Boys, they wore night goblin cloaks to blend in. They only shot a handful of archers that were about to shoot Skarsnik, and then gobbla ate Snotruk. The backstairs boys then pledge themselves to Skarsnik, they weren’t almost wiped out.

Since I know some people would like to know what happens to Skarsnik in the end times I'll give a very watered down summary here (major spoilers ahead):
Wurrzag pronounces Grimgore Ironhide and Skarsnik as the living avatars of Gork and Mork (no we don't know who's the avatar of who). So that's pretty bad-ass, right?
Skarsnik also kicked some Skaven ass while defending Karak eight peaks but Gobbla his lovely pet gets literally cut apart from the inside and he was actually heartbroken as well as very pissed off.
During the final battle, he leads the final charge of Greenskin forces after Grimgore dies. However, he is never mentioned to explicatively have died. It's a common theory that with his ultimate cunning he painted himself and the few surviving loyal greenskin forces purple and survived the end-times that way.

I would still say that Grom is a contender to the most powerful Goblin Warlord.
I mean, he rampaged through the old world, reached the ocean, went on to build a fleet, and then invaded Ulthuan and rampaged around there as well.
Also, he was more wide than he was tall(or close to anyway), and size is power for a greenskin.
Also, isnt "Backstairs Boyz" simply not a play on "Backstreet Boys"?

Almost every detail about Skarsnik’s conflict with the skaven from Skreekrit on is incorrect. He only killed Skreekrit and a handful of his bodyguards in that ambush. The blasting powder was used to seal the tunnels so the skaven in the lower tunnels couldnt reinforce their camp in the upper city. The first part of the battle came from one side of the cavern, the skaven rushed to fend this off. Then skarsnik pulled down the rubble blocking off one of the tunnels on the other side of the hall, which he had strategically been removing for months until it was very thin. And I don’t think any skaven escaped, they had nowhere to go as skarsnik had blocked any route of escape. The skaven in the main camp fought to the death and the skaven from the second camp fled back to their camp, chased by the wolf riders who killed them to a rat.

I got into watching ArchW via his Gotrek & Felix video. I then took up his advice to read the books and am currently on the final book of the main series, Slayer. Totally awesome stories. All the way up until The End Times. Now it certainly has its merits being awesome on a level of awesome that doesnt have any right to be in the realm of a believeable and beautifully constructed fantasy universe.Yet what does this make it? Yes, right! Contrived - painfully so :(
Its almost as if GW brought in the End Times just to finish off the heroes (seemigly, now formerly) blessed by their gods. Nathan Long was handling the stories masterfully, and said he had an idea of what the ending might be. But no! GW got rid of him and brought David Guymer - suspected Chaos worshipper - with his colourful, and clever, yet overly hectic style of writing to basically mess with the vibe. Herein be a microcosm of what TET is so I concurr w/36:06 :()
