I also installed a rear camera on my Peugeot 308 SW II from 2016. It was a lot of work to get it working so I like to share my findings with you:
I used an Ebilaen AA/CarPlay unit and a Smartour 1080p camera. I found out as explained in this video that I had to use a relais to make it work since the voltage was varying between 12V-14V (so even above the 12V use a relais). They don't explain it in this video but it does matter to which yellow cable of the two cables of the relais you connect the - and signal/reverse light. Check Google for an image of how to connect the cables to the relais. Next, I also found out that I had to use the small red cable attached to the video cable. So don't cut it off! I had to connect it to the REVERSE input cable on the back of the Ebilaen module. This provides the module the signal that the car is in reverse. At first I connected this cable to the reverse light cable but as said earlier the voltage was varying too much. Therefore I connected the tiny red REVERSE cable to the + cable of the relais which also goes to the camera. And then it worked!
Turn off OEM|Aftermarket camera in the main menu under settings > car. Finally, the guide lines on the screen were opposite to that my steering wheel was doing. Go to Front View in the main menu and change View to Normal of Reverse.
Hopes this works for you. Cheers!

Thanks man, I spent a good share of the day struggeling with this install and I think that as you mentionned, the key is the relay! I'll give it another shot soon... By the way, where did you get the steady/power 12V?

@@thierryhimself2796 I managed to wire it up and used the antena amplifier cable in the headunit and wired it to the little red wire that came along with the RCA video cable. Since the Car has a Canbus, the camera pops up without needing the reverse camera signal. If you don't have a canbus you can just wire the cable from the antena amplifier back to the camera.

In case you haven't by now, adding a cone shaped step drill is a nice to have in your toolkit.

You guys are actually the best for making this video.
I’m going to watch this to see if this is compatible with the CarPlay you installed in your first video
    Bravo

Hi, your videos are very clear and helpful. I have Peugeot 308 2012 ehdi UK version. It's has no truck light. I got one from the junk yard but don't know how to connect wiring or how it works. Like when you open truck, light should come on etc.... can you help please?

This video could have been a little bit more explained.
Find the 12v in reverse, but it will have less than 12v but it might have 12v.
And bring a cable from the clip and attach to a yellow....sure but that clip it's positive or negative?

I’ve seen a lot of videos of people doing this on the right side, how can it be correct? Doesn’t the camera need to be centered?

Many thanks for the tutorial! I am studying to install the Carplay-unit including rear camera on my 2016 308SW also.
It seems that you are using the reverse light signal/power to power the camera, right? You do not continuously supply power to the rear camera, correct?
Does that mean that if the camera _starts_ sending a CVBS-video signal (or AHD?) to the Carplay-unit also _automatically_ starts displaying that video? In other words: there is no need to separately feed a reverse (light) signal to the Carplay-unit?

For the love of god I can't seem to remove the plastic cover above the window (at 1:10 ). Anything you guys had to do to remove it? The sides (almost where the trunk privacy cover clips to) can be removed fine, but the inner part of the cover is just 100% stuck

With our car, it was just a matter of pulling hard. You have to dare to use enough force, but make sure that the plastic does not break.

Hi, if I already have the original camera that came with the car, as in the manufacturer's one, would I need to fit this if I install the Apple carplay/ Android auto kit that you fitted in one of your other videos? Would the original reverse camera not work?

    • @daleycarter
      @daleycarter Před 2 lety +1

I would assume you can just plug in the old camera's output cable into the new head unit without doing any wiring, as long as the head unit is plug and play
