You missed interstellar
1. The Tree of Life
2. Inception
3. The reverent
I think skyfall is just brilliant. Roger Deakins is the king.
Personally I would have put :
1)Blade Runner 2049
2)Wolfwalkers
3)La La Land
4)Only Lovers Left Alive
5)The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
6)Dune
7)The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
8)The Tree of Life
9)Children of Men
10)Hero
Honorable mentions : Life of Pi, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Master, Skyfall, Mad Max: Fury Road, Gravity and In the Mood for Love
Watching Blade Runner(both movies) made me appreciate the scenery of my town at night. Its as if I was in the movie myself.
is blade runner a sequel movie???
@@user-os3ys7qj7w yessir
What town you live in?
My Personal Favourites
Her
Interstellar
Blade Runner 2049
1917
Joker
Children Of Men
The Dark Knight
Mid90s
Call Me By Your Name
The Master
Prisoners

call me by your name has the best cinametography frr
You forget inception
So glad that you finished the list! Can’t wait for your next video
Fury (2014), I think it's cinematography is underrated. Average plot, saved by it's gorgeous cinematography.
Cuaron, Lubezki and Iñarritu. Mexican moviemakers are awesome
For some reason, I've nevee been huge on Blade Runner 2049, it never gripped me the way it did most people, but Deakins absolutely killed it! Every frame from that movie is a wallpaper
1. Single shot takes
2. Precise camera placement
3. Dynamic camera shots
4. Placing the audience(camera) right in the middle of everything
I feel that Mad Max: Fury Road is up there. It was an exhilarating movie!
Glad you are up and running again
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has one of the most beautiful Cinematography ive seen in a movie
When it comes to cinematography 1917 is the best.
Amazingly beautiful films indeed! Good job.
This is an awesome list.."Children of Men" car scene, and the long cut battle scene towards the end of the movie... Mind blown🤯
JUST LOVED IT MAN..THANK YOU SO MUCH
I won't argue with you giving the No 1 spot to Road to Perdition. The visuals have a raw quality to it.
RIP Conrad Hall
Great picks bro ❤
Very fine picks, Deakins and Lubezki is one of the greatest visionaries of all time. Keep it up the good work, can’t wait for the next video.
Glad to see road to Perdition getting the praise that it deserves. One of my all time favourites
At one point in filming, the cinematographer began to weep when he was adjusting the lighting on Paul Newman, saying, 'he was so beautiful'. Incredible lighting and cinemaphotography.
Very accurate, though I would perhaps alter the order imo. Grandes artistas mexicanos!!
Excellent picks! #1 made me go 😬😬😬
A great list! Glad to see your video:)
Road to Perdition is so gorgeous and such an underrated film. One of the best of 21st century.
Another wonderful cinematography picks:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
O Brother Where Art Thou
Kill Bill
The Lord of the Rings
The Aviator
The Prestige
Drive
The Master
Prisoners
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Sicario
La La Land
Moonlight
Phantom Thread
Dunkirk
Midsommar
A Hidden Life
The Irishman
The Lighthouse
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Emmanuel Lubezki is everywhere on this list, I love it!
Awesome video. Missed your videos for the last three years. Amazing how many movies in this list are of Emanuele Lubezski. There should another video listing the top 10 cinematography credits of Emanuele lubezski .
Thanks for the suggestion, we may look at doing this list in the coming weeks!
@@SmashingUKProductions Also, try Roger A. Deakins. He and Chivo are the OGs of cinematography.
@@rickardkaufman3988 Definitely, goes without saying. Think Mr. Deakins definitely deserves a list.
Thank God, The Assassination of Jesse James is in this list! Probably one of the best and beautiful looking movies of all time.
IMO inception could well be replaced with Interstellar, but then Inception is just unique.
Yeah I agree, but I’d argue the Nolan movie with the best cinematography is Dunkirk. Although Interstellar, Inception and even Tenet had some breathtaking cinematography too.
Inception is way more stunning than other Nolan films including interstellar
@@premiersketches3900this is not about the concept, its about the cinematogrophy. I personally like Interstellar more but yeah I get you. Also, I just came to know inception isn't really "unique" cuz many of its iconic shots are ripped off from Paprika the anime. So, I take my words back
No inception is way better and stunning than interstellar
Having Denis and Deakins in a film is just overkill…
You missed In the mood for love(director: wong kar wai)
Great list. Road to Perdition really caught me off guard as the no. 1 spot. Certain movies that I would've liked to see would be In the Mood for Love, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Enter the Void, The Lighthouse, and City of God.
I love how Roger Deakins and Emmanuel Lubezki literally dominate this list
Christopher Doyle absolutely needs to be on the main list either with Hero or In the mood for love. There are only 3 or 4 cinematographers whose status is equivalent to an A-list actor or an acclaimed director: Storaro, Chivo, Deakins and Christopher Doyle.
whaaat? No Grand Budapest Hotel from Wes Anderson? That movie has a marvelous and unique cinematography, kinda sad now that you didn´t include him in the list. By the way, great list, and I think we can all agree that every movie with Roger Deakins can be considerate a masterpiece of cinematography haha
did not expect road to perdition on here at all but totally deserved, insane film
Your honorable mentions were the best ones. Also, the movie with best "rain scene" is "The Grand Master" staring Zhang Ziyi.
Complete agree about there will be blood winning over the assassination of Jesse James. It's hard to take the Oscars seriously sometimes!
There Will Be Blood is a Masterpiece
@@miguelrivera5430 would actually agree but not when compared to the TAOJJBTCRF
dope vid..
Nice....explain
What is the soundtrack 3:42 called?
Ad Astra is my personal favorite
Yeah I totally agree, I’m glad to see Roma, blade runner 2049 and the assassination of Jesse James, not only are they some of the best looking films to come out in the 21st century, they’re some of the best looking films I have ever seen. I would personally include Terence Malick’s ‘the new world’ 2006 but you do already have a Terence Malick film here so that’s fair. Mad max as well is great
Samsara guys one of the beautiful movie i have ever watched
We'll be surd to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion!
my already endless admiration for lubezkis work has just gotten that much bigger
I think Dunkirk must be in top 4
children of men has to be one of the most underrated films out there
You spelled overrated wrong.
@@cfbilly70 yea i think you’re the only one that thinks that
@@hughg.rection7380 it's a good movie, but it's not THAT amazing. But I'm fine living in this world of my own!
@@cfbilly70 which movie do you consider to be the best?
@@hughg.rection7380 the movie that still impresses me everytime I see it is 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is the only "space movie" from the sixties that still holds up and never feels dated. I think Kubrick made the best film of all time that time.
Macbeth 2015
Hands down #1 for cinematography
Imo
Chelk out the movie 'Angamali diaries ' there is 11min single shot climax
I'm surprised to see Brazil was not mentioned
'Brazil' was released in 1985, this list is looking at films from the 21st century. Thanks for the comment!
The Fall is my #1 for cinematography.
I will somewhat forgive this video for coming out before Greig Fraser entered into prominence with his spectacular work in Dune and the Batman.
Moonlight's cinematography is my fav
MAN OF STEEL ❤❤
I'd have to put Sunshine in top 3
No love for The Master? I thought it was a very beautifully shot movie.
You should update this now that Dune 2 is out. The cinematography there is mind bending
The ones who made this muct for some reason have missed In the Mood for Love. Any list such as this without that movie can't be taken wholly seriously. I would have liked Manchester by the Sea as well for it's more subtle camera work, but In the Mood is an absolute must.
I thought there's be Antichrist and the neon demon . Road to Perdition is absolutely the best
Life of Pi was the best for me. It was simply beautiful!!!
I fully agree
I think that mr glass should be in your list
Sleepy hollow is nice with it
The Revenant
3:43
Interstellar is incredible as well
Thelma is also good movie with enchanting scene..
I feel moonlight has the beat cinematogtaphy
My top 10 will be like (not ranked):
1. Blade Runner 2049
2. Inception
3. All Quiet on The Western Front
4. Interstellar
5. There Will Be Blood
6. The Prestige
7. 1917
8. The Revenant
9. The Dark Knight
10. Birdman
If I recall correctly the 7 minute sequence in children of men had a cut though, since you have splatter "disappear" from the camera.
Indeed you are correct, it appears about 5 minutes in to the shot.
dune would be on this list
It is a very beautiful film.
Life of pi anyone??
Aesthetic and films video please from Maharashtra Mumbai
The revenant
Great Gatsby
Schindler list
Anyone who puts ROMA on their list … gets an A+
Mad Max: Fury Road as well.
Dunkirk could be in this list too, the movie is just a war masterpiece
No Zack Snyder?
The best I think is The Fountain a film by Daren Arenosky
You forgot Daren Aronofsky's The Fountain (2006)
There Will Be Blood Top One for me
Damn no David Fincher films is crazy.
The grand budapest hotel!!!!
every dc shot
I know this video is about films, but Better Call Saul has the best cinematography that I have ever seen.
My list

Rogue one
oblivion
The batman
Dune
300
Man of steel

Harry potter and the prisoner of azkeban
Harry potter and the deadly halows part 2

What about interstellar man?
Prisoners?
deakins is the dicaprio of cinematography
Joker
True Grit (2010)
Prisoners
Sicario
Gravity
The Lighthouse
Missing The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Lord Of The Rings,
blad runner 2049 is the opus magnum
EX Machina? Under The Skin?
how about 3000 years of longing? opinions?
I don't really think the behind the scenes complexity or wether they actually lit a scene with ditial lights or natural light is that relevant. What is important is the final product and the inherent quality it has.
U forgot parasite, interstellar and many more
‘Diestopian’
The tree of life
