You fellas are truly kind human beings. That being said, that lady has the classic tweaker walk if I’ve ever seen it. Probably left to go get a fix. Definitely put a tall security fence up with multiple 360 cameras and security lights. Y’all are gonna get a lot of attention with your nice rides and equipment in a neighborhood like that. Be safe and keep your head on a swivel.

💯 % I could tell from that classic fast 💨 talking fast working she’s on Meth ! Classic Methhead characteristics! Best thing they can do is put up a really good fence and locking gates and lots of security cameras that will alert 🚨 them and police of trespassers potential thieves because it’s going to happen with that crap in the neighborhood nearby! Also they better lock the gates behind themselves while they’re inside working once the shop is complete or the dope heads will walk on in if the gate’s open. Dope has became one of our biggest problems in America, Much Much worse now than when I grew up in the 60’s 70’s & 80’s !!!!!!!

You can see the topsoil problem heading your way on the road. If the bobcat is digging in, no heavy truck has a chance on that grade. Scrape it up, pile it somewhere for your landscaping and put down a layer of reclaim on your road. You have the machines, the rest is easy. House #2!

As well you need drainage gravel and a top coat that compacts. The bulldozer is great but it takes a lot of skill and experience to use it well. You will get much more use out of a dump truck. • @StartBuildingYourDreams

Gents, You’re building in the mountains, which ups the cost and likelihood of issues.
    Road building basics:
    1) Drainage Plan ditching, culverts, swales, use large rip rap in your plan if needed to slow water. Velocity and volume translates to erosion.
    2) You’re going to have to remove the organics all of them.
    3) Sub-Base Compact in 6-8 inch lifts. Bring in some non-expansive clay if needed.
    4) Base- use some #3 or #4 Rock (big stuff). I’d go with geo textile fabric at a minimum. If you expect semi’s on a routine basis or driving you old army truck regularly, you might want to go with some actual geo cell. Fill with #3-4 rock, Compact it as you go.
Finish either asphalt or crush and run.
I’m in town for the holidays…let me know….Jon@SBYD!

Dozers are good for large jobs, you can tilt blade for leveling and topsoil removal. Bobcat can do in a pinch, I would invest in a tilt blade attachment for you cat it's the most economical thing to do. Put it up some where and then use it for your lawn (topsoil). I would suggest putting down an barrier on driveway, and then use rock ( no sinking )... The truck is a better option for the use that you are going...

Several comments are all on the right track. You need to prepare the road base before applying gravel. That means removing that soft topsoil, making ditches and drain pipes. Also I hace seen a material laid down before applying gravel to help keep the gravel from sinking into the soil. Geotextile I believe is what its called. I wish I had used it on my driveway but heck, they probably didnt make it way back then...

Your commercial building neighbors must be happy to have the area cleaned up. I think a dump truck is a smart investment for projects now and in the future and to haul your equipment. The front of the second house seems more appealing to me. I'd keep as many trees as you can and hide the view from the street. I like where the morning sun enters the main bedroom. I'd also leave plenty of room behind your garage... just in case you want to make it deeper in the future. Also consider high ceilings in your garage so you could also install some lifts to stack your cars (if you ever wanted), more options. Love that you are involved with your church and was singing with your community.

Dig out the mud, put down aome 2.5” crushed (4-6) inches, then top it with 1 1/4 or 5/8” crushed rock. If you put just 5/8ths over mud it will not last and cement trucks and other heavy stuff will get stuck. Also crown the road so water drains off

Maybe Renée was checking out your copper situation, hope not but copper theft is a big thing in my city and usually you have a lady that scouts it out for the guys to come back at night. Keep your stuff secure and hide some trail cameras that send images to your phones if you haven't already.
Keep it up guys, loving the progress!!

Josh and David I’m with you guys comments 100% !!!! That Renee was typical actions: Fast Talk and Fast swag of a Meth Addict/Crack Addict. Very well could’ve been scoping out the place for theft because you’re right they send women in to do the scouting for them. All I can say is high fences 360 degrees with razor wire or at least 3 strands of barbed wire, locking gates and lots of live footage security cameras to alert 🚨 them and police. Also lots of caution signs! The expensive cars these guys have is a high theft target 🎯, they’re worth more money stripped down and sold part by part than they are sold whole. The GoonzQuad boys best keep their most expensive rides at their house or Pops house. I wouldn’t advise putting them in that neighborhood without top notch security!!!!!

@@CCRider5312 I agree totally, they will have trouble keeping tools inside this place. Better to sell off as an investment and build a garage at one of the properties. Much more secure.

I bought a dump truck for my properties earlier this year. Great investment got a lot of use out of it already. Can be used to haul in heavy equipment also. Something like an F750 with 26,000 LB GVWR and you don't need a commercial license.

Front of house towards street, because the front should be the first thing visitors see. The back should have the view, because the back patio/deck is where most families spend time.

As someone who is also buildinmg a house my recommendation to house layout and orientation would be to make the living areas to catch as much sun as possible. Not only does that give you usually a nice view but you also make it very energy effiecent because the house asorbs the most heat during the winter - less heating costs!!

🔥HOUSE SOUTHERN FACING 🔥 if you face the side of the home South that has the most windows, you will get more sunlight during the winter months since the sun is low in the sky and travels from east to west. Your energy costs will also be lower since it will create a greenhouse effect and warm the insides of the home. This will also create a higher re-sale value if and when you decide to sell.

You can always buy a Day Cab semi tractor and have a dump bed kit put on it. That’s how they’re done any how. Heck if your fathers semi runs, you can convert it. There is a dealership in Kansas City MO that does it. I don’t know if there would be one in Chattanooga there or if there is 1 in Nashville. But if you scrounge up a good used Day Cab then a custom truck dealership can put it together for you.

The 2nd house is useful and set for more uses.1. Floor above part of the garage for storage, etc, and part removed for more clearance for a lift.2. If the majority of the roof is set to the South you can put solar panels. The shop's looking better outside.I did wonder about the insulation as the office needs it for cool, warmth, and sound.Great group of Carolers too.Merry Christmas !

House #2 Allows for better integration with the landscape. The open and natural context requires a more organic and unrestricted floor plan that Blends in.
No house should ever be on a hill or anything , it should be of the hill. Belonging to it.
It is IMPORTANT to know that the garage and house entrance must sit on the high side of the slope , that will allow the house drive way to lead naturally and the rest of the volume can flow with the slope. Orient the two volumes inward opposing the slope to Creat a piazza. Try not to stick out like other house.
Buy the dump truck easy dozers are not required for your type of work.

Always face the back of the house/ living room/kitchen towards the west where the sun sets. If you orient the house improperly it will effect the value and desirability later on when you decide to move on. Always face the private side of the house towards the view.

There is a zone line that runs from west to east that determines where the sun sits in the sky. These zones change from North to South. Basically it's determined how far you are from the equator. Because at the equator you get the most sun and it is directly over head. Now the zone where I'm at is the 2nd southern most zone in continental U. S. THAT goes from southern CA to SC it covers the southern portion of the states. Remember the earth is round, and is tilted. However FL ,and southern most part of TX is a different zone, further south. What your trying to Do is avoid Summer sun light heating up your main house windows. In my zone we ideally face the front porch and front windows to SE or S because the summer sun hangs higher in the sky . TN is in a different Zone You guys get the Sun at a different angle. To solve the problem of too much summer sun you need to appropriate sized over hangs for windows and front Door/porch area. So you want exposure to winter sun and protection from summer sun. You want to take advantage of your view and have enough window space to take in that view. As long as you get proper window over hang can't go wrong. I would make some kind of card board mock up. To see the view you want and check angle of the sun. Good luck with what your doing. Keep being careful and smart . Thanks for the Green color hoodies !
