  • If you played through Battle for Azeroth with at least one character, you can talk to Chromie near your faction's embassy on alts to pick an expansion/timeline you want for leveling from 10 to 50.

    I can't wait for this. For everyone there's parts of the game that they like and parts they dislike. Now with this we get to max our characters in the zones we actually want to be in. This encourages stepping out of town into the world instead of dungeon hopping in LFD all day. Its a quality of life change on a personal preference level.

      I've been leveling some characters due to the XP bonus to get ready for Shadowlands and I totally agree. Right now you get to level 58 in about two Azeroth zones with about 5 dungeons thrown in for good measure. Then if you go to Outland, you get to 70 in Hellfire, then if you go to Northrend you to 70-80 all in the HF or BT, then another 10 in the Jade Forest then Legion. It's very disjointed. For my last character I'm doing 58 - 80 in Northrend to at least get to Dragonblight before leaving.
      The double XP obviously messes this up partially, but doing the new level squished 10 - 50 in a single expansion will at least let you see most of the major story lines and have a bit of continuity. As Horde, having literally 4 Warchiefs (Thrall in TBC and WotLC, Garrosh in Cata and Panda, Vol'gin for a bit then Sylvannus) it's super weird, especially because you start with Garrosh as War Chief then go back to Thrall, then back to Garrosh (unless you are a DK).
      It's even worse if you are an Allied Race, you start with Bane as the head of the "council" in Org, _then_ go back to Garrosh the second you leave the city.
      Alliance have some problems with it jumping between boy King Andiun, Varian and Anduin on the run in Pandaland then King Anduin too.
      Honestly, I would love if Blizzard did an animated, 5 minutes "recap" for Vanilla and every expansion as well, even if it was in their sort of "motion comic" format they did so many BFA videos in. It would really help get people up to speed, and put them in game for new players to find.

      @@andrewshandle Well that's the very idea of XP boost though, don't use them and heirlooms and you will have to visit most the zones lol

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle Před 4 lety

      tomcash007 not true at all, they lowered XP requirements for leveling a long time ago. Without a single heirloom you can level from 90-100 in WoD in a single zone with no dungeons, so take away the XP boost and you’d do it in two zones.
      Same with Pandara, with no heirlooms you can level from 80-90 in the Jade Forest without touching a dungeon.
      Ditto for Legion for 100 - 110 and Northrend or Outland for 60-80.
      Double XP helps, but you'd still never need to do more than 2 zones in any expansion without it.

      @@andrewshandle Well I quit not long after BFA but back then It took more than 1 or 2 zones with no boost especially 1-60

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle Před 4 lety

      @@tomcash100 Without the buff it'd take you 2 zones in most expansions for 10 levels, for 1-60 my guess is it'd take you 3, _maybe_ 4 with he current XP rates on Azeroth. Even tapping a mine or picking a herb gets you about 1.75% of a level non-rested XP. So I don't know if they've changed things since you quit, but this is how easy it is right now.
      I have been leveling all the allied races, so they start at level 20, so 20-60 can be done in a single Azeroth zone with dungeons throw in. For an extreme example, I leveld a Void Elf Warrior Alt this week and never left Stormwind, I just did dungeons with a 10 second queue time (as a Proc). At that point I switched to Fury since I had never done the Alliance Borean Tundra zone in Northrend, so I did 60-80 all in that zone with 2 dungeons thrown in. In Panda, I did the about 10% of Jade Forest quests, but I'd done them before so I moved to Valley of the Four Winds and I haven't even gotten to Hafhil yet and I'm level 86.

    It would be great if they also made an option for pre-cataclysm quest/world state. But I guess that won't happen. We have Classic now regardless.
    Still. That would be dope.

    I love how Blizzard makes ZERO attempt at showing you this in game. Retail questing is already extremely easy as it is, and yet there isnt a notice at level 10 to go to Chromie and pick an expansion.

    I never bought BFA and I really don't want to do it. I've played all the way to 110 in Legions, so will I be forced to do BFA making a new toon or if I go back and level up my level 110 hunter in an old expansion will it still make me do BFA? I'm guessing they are going to make BFA free, which I still don't want to do it lol. Now if they don't make BFA free, I'm ok with that too. I have fun at level 110 and will be ok with not buying shadowlands

      On your 1st character, you will be forced to level up from 1-50 or 10-50 if you pick an Allied Race doing BfA content.

    Still kinda weird that they have giant, massive, continent spanning landmasses that become completely pointless after each expansion. Why not like... make everything relevant? Most MMOs don't leave their landmasses on the table like that. They use them for something.
