You'd think that with how big the company is and how much the models cost, they'd be able to do more stuff more often (especially for xenos/non-imperium factions) but, well, why do that when they can just keep selling space marines?
Whenever someone says "nobody buys x" as a justification for why they don't get pushed, that's usually because x (whatever it is- xenos, eldar, etc.) isn't getting the support it needs to be popular. Space Marines are pretty much ubiquitous in anything 40k-related, but if it's not a space marine or the imperium, it's not going to be advertised as much because of the self-fulfilling prophecy of "we don't want to spend any money to push/develop this thing that won't sell".

Also to note the Necrons have several named C'tan related to the stories that wouldn't be a bad thing to bring into the game to flesh out the star gods a bit more. That said, it'd be nice to have Anrakyr back.

      @technoheretic Před 6 měsíci +11

I want them to bring back necrons actually led by C'Tan. Would have to be shards I guess. Like the original codex. Imagine a necron world where the C'Tan managed to get free and take control of the crons there. Then they could bring back Pariahs too. Yes I'm still grumpy about what Matt Ward did to the faction.

Im almost certain GW wont buff the big knights to the point of being useful, they will just nerf small ones until the big ones look good in comparison, even if that ends up leaving us with a 30% army... and i expect nothing from them about the rules either, we will remain with unfun and random pos rules... max i can see them is making the -1 to be hit from turn 2, which will still suck. Oh, and Abominant needs a complete re-work from the ground up for its skills, its sooo bad that even when the edition released and he was 395, had overwatch and towering he sucked, now at 455 with neither of those rules he is just pathetic, he does less than a single Neurolictor at 390 points more for skills and the rest of the profile is vastly inferior to any othe knight.

      @Darkja Před 6 měsíci +4

@@viktorgabriel2554 the problem i see with forcing a big knight per 2 small ones is that big knights are way too overpriced right now (and in the case of Abominant and Preceptor, just plain garbage), so being forced to run overpriced units to have access to the "good" ones is just a kick on the nads at this point, specially for chaos, that none of the big knights is worth running right now, not even the "cheap" rampager at 380... just think about it, a knight at 380 is not good enough right now, and the rest are like 450 at the very least.

Briefly on Imperial Knights; two potential new units for Knights were hinted at within Assasinorium Kingmaker.
The first being the aforementioned vassals you mentioned, called "Footmen"
Generally from their description, just seem to be Guardsmen like, but could definitely serve the purpose of being a smaller unit that Knight Armies could take to hold objectives.
The second one however, is more interesting. A small conversation between Tech Priest Sacristans revealed that Cawl himself is working on potentially making his own Knights, and naming said weapons the Knight would wield after himself

However barring all of that; I'd really like to see the Tau get some form of new battlesuit to show that they have been advancing their tech still. Perhaps a FSE inspired Crisis variant designed for close combat. Representing the Tau's method of waging war expanding to accept that melee combat might become an inevitability in the galaxy and designing tools to perform well at it. Or a heavy, shield carrying Broadside designed to slog up the battlefield and push the front lines back with brutal shotgun like mid-range weaponry. @@davidfeline5850 You seem to have a very VERY shortsighted view of 40k.
Things being legend only means they aren't supported by the game anymore, mostly because GW discontinued their production, 2 things that don't prevent them in anyway to be brought back.
The Wasp in particular would be a smart choice as the Walker need to be updated anyway so slapping an aditional sprue in the new box to have it be a dual build with the Wasp would be a smart move.
As for the Shadow Specter, the fact that they may or may not be good RIGHT NOW shoudln't have any impact with their move to plastic, as such move imply they are moved imply they are now mainline codex units, and thus will get a datasheet update anyway (the same way a Legend coming back would btw).
What really matter when it comes to what should or shouldn't be added is if it fills a gap in the roster, is OG and iconic or just cool, balancing datasheet will follow from there.

GW is balancing the game around the tournament scene so anything in legends is not going to be a high priority for an upgrade as it can't be played there. I agree the bonesinger and wasp are very cool but, the war walker kit is already in plastic and is a lot better than the old metal one. It's also selling well, at least at my FLGS. For the Bonesinger, that's a fun painting project. I would rather run another unit of Rangers or a Warlock in game as my experience with our tanks is; if they get caught in the open, they die. So an extra D3 wounds? Screening or objective scoring is a higher priority personally. On Shadow Spectres, the Exarch and Irillyth are not available from GW but are not in legends and you can still buy the 5 elf unit from FW/GW when it's in stock. This implies they intend to support it in future. None of the metal/failcast/resin Phoenix Lords are available direct from GW/FW and the last few editions of the game have slowly seen Aspect Warriors appearing in plastic, Scorpions being the latest via kill team. So they appear to be the primary upgrade path. Let's also not forget that arguably the best model from the ninth edition codex was a 36 year old 2nd edition Baharroth. In white metal... Vehicle wise I'd say the Vyper is the most likely to get an update as it was highlighted in the anniversary models recently as being our oldest plastic kit. @@davidfeline5850 "Shortsighted? I don't believe so. Realistic, as an Eldar player? Absolutely. "
Let's hope this bold statement won't be followed by the cringiest load of short sighted statement ever put onto text then, right? (spoiler, it was followed by the cringiest load of short sighted statements ever put onto text).
"GW is balancing the game around the tournament scene so anything in legends is not going to be a high priority for an upgrade as it can't be played there."
This is, without a doubt, the most moronic braindead take I've ever seen in my life.
BRO. As I literally just explained, the point of "udpating" these units is NOT to make "updated legend units", why would you even THINK that?
The point is to bring them OUT of legend and into the mainline codex.
"I agree the bonesinger and wasp are very cool but, the war walker kit is already in plastic and is a lot better than the old metal one."
What an odd thing to say.
Why even reference the old FIRST EDITION War Walker from 1988, as if that made the "new one" from 3rd (2003) or the 4th ed one from 2006 somehow noticeably newer than most of the range.... when 4th was the periode where almost all the range was redone.
Literally all the kits that have been updated in 9th and since were all from the exact same periode than the new walker (and that includes the Scorpions and fire dragon, the only the tanks (which are literally timeless), Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks are still from 3rd (and yes, these two should be on the very top of the "must be updated asap" list).
"It's also selling well, at least at my FLGS."
What the f are you talking about?
Are you actually saying that the only reason for a mini to get updated is if it doesn't sell enough? Wat?!
"For the Bonesinger, that's a fun painting project. I would rather run another unit of Rangers or a Warlock in game as my experience with our tanks is; if they get caught in the open, they die. So an extra D3 wounds? Screening or objective scoring is a higher priority personally. "
Hey, remember when you made the pretty bold claim that you weren't ultra shortsighted?
Then why are you still talking about Legend Rules her, as if it mattered?
Do you even know what Legend rules mean? You do realize that the whole point of Legend rules is that they are intentionally designed to not be competitive and not be updaterd, and since the game is on constant powercreep path this means they get worse and worse as time goes.
You do realize that just because said Legend rules are bad doesn't mean you can't make actual good rules for that unit if you tried, and it CERTAINLY don't mean that bringing that unit into the main codex would mean keeping their orrendous rules unchanged.
Also, you realize that tanks are not the only Wraithbone constructs in the army, right? All the walkers, from the Wraithknight to the Wraithguards are ALSO Wairthbone construct, its literally in their name, and they would GLADLY get a support character that could increase their resilience.
Speaking of that, you could do a LOT of thing to make the Bonesinger extremly good, from the obvious healing ability ofc, to having them buff thoughness or save for wairthbone constructs, or to do some more exotic stuff like buffing their Invul or giving them FNP.
"On Shadow Spectres, the Exarch and Irillyth are not available from GW but are not in legends and you can still buy the 5 elf unit from FW/GW when it's in stock. This implies they intend to support it in future."
Again with the moronic shortsightedness, WHO CARE ABOUT THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE MINIES?!
Also you must be totally deluded to believe that GW intend on "supporting" ANYTHING FW related, ESPECIALLY a unit they removed the Exarch and Phoenix Lord of (how the fuck does that sound like a signe they want to support it?!).
To ANYONE that actually pay attention to GW actions its very, VERY clear that everything FW related is going the way of the dodo, they are just milking it as much as possible on its way out.
"None of the metal/failcast/resin Phoenix Lords are available direct from GW/FW and the last few editions of the game have slowly seen Aspect Warriors appearing in plastic, Scorpions being the latest via kill team. So they appear to be the primary upgrade path."
What was even the point you tried to make here?
Why do you weave in the exact same sentence two facts that have loiteraly no correlation and try to drow a conclusion from them?
Yes, Phoenix Lords have been lacking big time when it comes to getting updated, but of the 2 we recently got none were from Kill Team (because, yaknow, Kill Team doesn't do named characters).
And yes, the scorpions are indeed comming under the guise of KT, but out of all the Eldari unit updates, they are literally the only one, so how exactly does that make it "the primary upgrade path"?
"Let's also not forget that arguably the best model from the ninth edition codex was a 36 year old 2nd edition Baharroth. In white metal... "
AGAIN with this cartoonish shortsightedness, what the HELL are you talking about bro?
WHO CARE ABOUT HOW IT PERFORMED?! Hey, wana know what was the best performing Tyranid last edition? It was the Dimachaeron. Guess what happened? They removed it from the game!
Do Baharroth (and the hawks) need to be on top of the update priority list?
OFC, but it has NOTHING to do with how they performed last edition and everything to do with the fact that they are ammong the last remnants of 2nd and 3rd ed minies still in the lineup.
"Vehicle wise I'd say the Vyper is the most likely to get an update as it was highlighted in the anniversary models recently as being our oldest plastic kit."
So you are actually capable of understanding what should or shouldn't dictate what constitue a good reason for updating a mini?! So why do you keep talking about the god damn rules you weirdo?!
"As for running OG and cool, my Dark Reaper Exarchs with flail of skulls say hi"

Great stuff on Thousand Sons, +1. I feel compelled to add to the wish list though - as it stands, they have just 1/3rd of the bespoke kits designed for them (eg not for AoS) as DG, the smallest range of any full-fledged army in the game, so I don't think it's unreasonable or unrealistic to dream of more.
#1) Thrallwizards! A chaff unit designed for TSons, analogous to Poxwalkers and Jakhals. They're an important part of the lore as the main source of aspirants for new TS sorcerers. They're a matriarchy and are also frequently sacrificed to power rituals and spells. Some kind of sacrifice mechanic for cabal points would be very cool.
#2) Something like Zoanthropes. I picture a "fast attack" squad of 3-6 melee sorcerers on disc.
#3) As much as I want a psyker dread like the Blood Angels get, I'd also like a kit to make it a Rubric Dread instead!
#4) As much as it's good and fun to dunk on Tzaangors, how about something unique for TS: a Tzaanogre?
#5) Rules wise, our normal Sorcerer and/or Infernal Master should function like Space Marine Lieutenants, and our Exalted Sorcerers like Captains - let us attach both to a single unit!
#6) Selfishly, just for me... The Castellax-Achea from HH/30K. Robots with psionically resonant crystals in them that let TS tech marines/numerologists control them with their minds. We're back in realspace, right next to our former forgeworld of Zhao-Arkhad that designed the heretek psi-tech, let us have them back!

A second FOB kit I think could add some useful options for the guard, such as a static towed AA mounting a twin linked icarus autocannon system. And of course the conspicuously absent thudd gun/quad mortar, which along with the hydra quad AA autocannon is another weapon that appears to be limited to a chimera chassis.

As a long time Dark Eldar player, I just want a named Archon (doesn't have to be vect), and a super heavy to play with. Maybe some more anti-psyker tech would have been neat when there was a psychic phase, but that is gone now. With the current state of them, I just don't have a drive to play with the units I've been playing with for a little over two decades. Sure we got some resculpts, but nothing *new* to play with.

Quite a few things are needed for some factions, here goes.
    1. ACTUAL characters for the non God legions (Decimus, Honsou and Solomon)
    2. Melee Battlesuits for Farsight Enclaves
    3. All the things you listed for Drukhari
    4. A unique unit datasheet for each first founding chapter/legion that does not have their own range. E.g. Firedrake Terminators for Salamanders, Headhunters Alpha Legion and Pathfinder bikers for White Scars
    5. An actual Kroot range
    6. Myrmidons, Thallaxes and Castellaxes in plastic for Admech.

As for Leagues of Votann, the video is spot on. I would probably suggest some weaponry that doubles as a mining laser. Seems more fitting. Maybe some stationary mining lasers like the Ork Mek Guns would be cool. Maybe a transport that burrows underground.

For DG it'd be neat to have some kind of "heavy weapons squad", some sort of infantry heavy gun like an Entropy cannon on a tripod or a mortar crewed by two plague marines, it would hark back to their WW1 design cues and their very heresy-era looking gear (maybe something akin to the rapier battery), and give them a longer range punch without spamming PBCs

Salamander’s, Fire Drake Terminators with very tanky saves or hammers that don’t have unwieldy.
Imperial Fists, Eradiactor Style unit that has heavy bolters. I feel that 6 primaris heavy bolters would be relatively strong.
Scars - bikers with weapon options or jet bikes with options.
Raven guard - Phobos jump pack saboteurs. That can lay mines or charges and have stealth or infiltrate
Blueberry’s already have stuff with victrix guard and a ton of characters so they are fine.
Iron hands - ability to character any dreadnought again or make special commanders for tanks like guard to improve the Armour around it.

We're saying 'crons had a huge release but they haven't actually got anything new except the 6 armed guy and the void dragon.
New sculpts for the same units maybe, but they're the EXACT same options as 6th or the end of 5th when they got their thematic update. There is a lot of cool sculpts the necrons could have that just don't exist, like that 4 armed swordsman we saw the other day on reddit.
Given that the necrons have basically 2 wargear options per unit, they just need more units. There's a huge potential for expansion within the destroyer cults and room for a lot more interesting stuff like the triarch stalker, AND room for more steadily marching legions of steel. There's basically 3 armies worth of thematics for necrons, minimum, and each barely has the surface scratched.

    - For the guard, gimme the DKOK. All in plastic. Them and Catachan seem like the best ranges to have as a sort of "core trio" of plastic guard regiments, alongside the Cadians, then from there they can do kill team and conversion kits for more distant regiments. I know people love the Armageddon Steel Legion because of their nostalgia, but I think the DKOK are more visually distinctive, I'm sorry. Also wouldn't mind a couple more units for the Militarum Tempestus, honestly. There's been rumors of a jetpack Kill Team of Scions, and that sounds fun.
    - For the Admech, I want their 30k range, but, barring that, I want some kind of superheavy. If they're not going to roll Knights into the Admech, then I want to see some really big Admech walker tanks, or even stuff on treads show up in a superheavy slot. Either that or something even more wild and unexpected but still cool. Some kind of big centerpiece for the Admech.
    - For the Blood Angels, a new Librarian Dreadnought would be really cool. That and if they're going to update the Rhino/Predator kit, I want to see a Baal Predator come along with it. A new sanguinary priest is higher on my list than for most because I like the Lamenters, and they have a unique Sanguinary Priesthood in the Calix.
    - For the Deathwatch they actually have a unique unit in the lore called a Deathwatch Keeper that's never been on the tabletop. They're clad in robes and carry power poleaxes, and they guard captured Xenos and Xenos tech in the Watch Fortresses. It could be interesting to see them realized alongside updated Deathwatch Veterans, a Watch Master, and a bigger Corvus Blackstar. Could be cool to see the Deathwatch Keepers serve as like a unique Deathwatch option that is an alternative to Bladeguard.
-For the CSM, all the Undivided Legions need a unique unit and an upgrade sprue. I really wouldn't accept any less. Iron Warrior Warsmiths, Night Lord Flenser Lords, Alpha Legion Snipers, etc... Also a refreshed Defiler, please, and updated Chaos Lord kits with a ton of options, jetpacks included. As well as an updated Terminator Lord that likewise has a lot of options like the old kit had. I also think some of the "minor" undivided warbands need to be elevated up to take the place of the god devoted legions that are leaving for their own codices, like the Red Corsairs, the Pyre, the Cleaved, the Invocators, the Magma Hounds, the Crimson Slaughter, or the Creations of Bile. I think the Fallen should be their own Kill Team release, but it would be cool to see them elevated to their own subfaction in CSM all the same. (Maybe their special rules could involve the theoretical Fallen Kill Team unique unit becoming Battleline)
-For the Thousand Sons. I really, really want some kind of Daemon engine for them. Maybe a flyer, because Tzeentch likes birds, or a tiny unit of 3 flyers. Ideally I would like to see more than one daemon engine, like what the Death Guard have, but let's not get too greedy. They also need both a Sorcerer Dreadnought, and a Rubric Dreadnought, those would be nice. Other than that, some kind of Havoc equivalent could be cool, or a Cultist Witch Coven made entirely of rogue psykers, that could be interesting. Rogue Psykers as a whole would be neat to see come from Blackstone fortress to CSM. They already have some nice sculpts. I also really want to see some more special weapon options for the Thousand Sons. I'm sick of everything either being a warpflamer, a soulreaper cannon, or an inferno bolter. Maybe like a Melta option or a Missile Launcher of some kind. It would also be nice for the Thousand Sons to receive a unique Sorcerer in Terminator Armor kit with a ton of weapon options. There's no reason for the generic CSM kits to stay generic. It could be nice to see a unique predator variant, if they're going to have sorcerer dreads, might as well take other inspiration from the Blood Angels and have a Predator with two Soulreaper cannons for the main gun.
-For the Chaos Daemons, I want to see an updated Soul Grinder sculpt. Maybe with deity-specific options like we got with the Daemon Prince. If they're going to flesh out Vashtorr into being his own burgeoning Chaos God, they could always do more fleshmetal Vashtorr-affiliated daemons that have tech weirdness. Always love that in 40k. Also an update of the Heralds of Tzeentch would be nice. Probably my own bias talking, but I love daemons of Tzeentch.
-For the Eldar. Warp Spiders or bust. Warp Spiders and Fire Dragons.
-For the Dark Eldar, honestly I'd love to see some more generic HQs. Right now it seems there's only one for each of the little subfactions. Maybe a different kind of elite assassin for the Kabals, or a different kind of Homunculus would be neat.

    regarding alpharius:
    > and "Alpharius"(who is actually Omegon) wasn't actually trying to kill Dorn and instead tried to turn him to the traitor cause
    On the off chance you're basing that off of *Head of the Hydra*, for whatver it might be worth;
    >"Oculus why do you love Warhammer lore?"
"Canonically Omegon took the name Alpharius while Alpharius took the name Omegon and then Alpharius who was Omegon was killed by Dorn and Omegon who was Alpharius renamed himself Alpharius in honor of Alpharius who was actually Omegon."
    >>I’m glad you like it, but I’m afraid that was not my intention :) Omegon took on the identity of Alpharius for the purposes of the epilogue, but otherwise I envisaged their identities being as other authors had written them (and swapping as suited them, as has always been canon).
    >>>Ahhhhhhhhh so it WAS Alpharius killed by Dorn, excellent. Even better!
    >>>>I wasn’t intending to shit all over John French’s work, no :p It never occurred to me that people might take the initial deception as standard from then onwards!
    \- Mike Brooks twitter.com/MikeBrooks668/status/1372933173441667078?s=20
    And John French on Alpharius's intentions;
    > But there certainly was, was a feeling of… there were people reading a different set of books than those that I were. And maybe that’s because they wanted to, maybe that’s because they just read it a different way, or, or, I mean I don’t know this could be, could be a whole myriad of reasons why. A lot of it as you say, was they weren’t hearing the whole story. They were reading isolated bits of information and forming their own reasons as to how that happened.
    >Yeah, yeah.
    >And that particularly happened with Praetorian of Dorn and... uh, you know, Alpharius, and the death of Alpharius-
    >Yep. Yep.
    >Was he dies, that’s rubbish.
    > *Inhales* Yep, how can- how can that possible happen? **And… and what were they trying to achieve, and how could they have done this, and you know, was he trying to kill Dorn? And so on, and the answer is... you'll never know, cause he died.** Um, and, and... that’s… that’s… uh, that’s not you know me being kind of like *oh yeah, ha ha ha*, it’s like, no yeah actually yeah, he had probably all kinds of things he would have done. But he couldn’t, because he died. Um, and that’s what happens when people die like that. They go, and all the things that they would have done or put in place… they just vanish, and the future goes off on a different… on a different path.
    > But yes, there was, and some of- some of the theories, and some of the questions I got off it were elaborate, um, in terms of… of trying to… um, make what had been in the book interpreted in a different way, so that he was alive basically. Or it was a big trick. Um… because the whole book had been about a big trick, or a series of big tricks, and it’s actually just the one, one of the moments of truth in it, it’s… all of this stuff and then… bang.

GSC: some elite options, maybe a ranged counterpart to abberants. Expensive but hard hitting ranged. Maybe something like a group of 5 mining lasers or seismic cannons. And a transport that isn't 110 points. Ork trucks are literally 60 points with a full firing deck.
What I want most for GSC, though, are just better integration rules for Astra Militarum models. Right now, there's little reason to take AM models in GSC because they inherit nothing rules wise.
