    Trail boss sneaking a suicide no-hander in there too. When I first started watching your vids I thought you were a trials guy who does a little single track. Then you throw down on huge drops and show off your jumping skills like they’re nothing. You really are a boss!

    Dear Jeff, thanks for the reply, checking out this mountain creek vid, can't believe it but I used to live in Vernon right across the valley, pochunk mountain. Back then mountain creek was just getting started. They never had bike stuff then. The snow wasn't always consistent back then, they used to have to make it when they could. Nice that they found another use for the mountain. I still get two sons in Sussex county. But now I'm 6k miles away. Nice to see the landscape again thru your video. Thanks Aloha

    Great video! My husband and I listened to some of your podcast with Singletracks. You were mentioning the importance of taking time (30-45 minutes) with basic skills. I get lessons from an excellent pro-rider and she gives me the "how-to". Afterwards, my husband and I will practice wheel lifts with fallen branches set a few meters apart. Or we'll practice ratcheting up some climbs with roots. We love sharpening our skills and timing and have a great time with it!

    Great recap of the drops, and how to send them! You didn't mention much about technique, but obviously yours is outstanding, and you keep centered on the bike so you can adjust in mid air if needed. I see SO MANY people going off our big local drops with their weight WAY too far back, and if something goes wrong, they are at the mercy of gravity.
    You've been doing this for so long that it's second nature to you. For newer riders, doing anything other than riding off the end of the drop controlled, just slightly behind the BB with a little handlebar pressure from a slight lean back, is a recipe for disaster. I see guys trying to hop off the end, and do all sorts of things that are just asking to slip a pedal and land without both feet on the pedals.
    BTW...my favorite part of that video was your follow cam footage, and at the 2:32 mark I loved how the rider in front of you pre-jumped that wooden hump, and floated over the whole thing! Cool video!

      I think he's using the Rylo in a lot of this footage, and we DO NOT want to hear that audio! :-)
      Jeff...Have you considered trying the Hero 7 chin mounted with a lightweight full face helmet? I'm really digging the angle, and getting rid of the gimbal. This was 1080p 30fps, but it gives you an idea. I'm having a new PC built to handle 4K footage, so we'll see how that goes. You seem to be happy with the Rylo, so the Hero 7 may not appeal to you at all. I actually prefer the angle of view, and how I see where I'm looking. It would have probably worked very well on this drop video. The stability is remarkable.

    Not sure if the order you did these in was in terms of difficulty but I seem to have done some of these in reverse order. Phantom and the On/Off jump were some of the first features I hit my first time at Creek last summer. This summer I did pipeline and wanted to do covenant but couldn't seem to get a good day. I'd love to see you do this on the dominion jumps and that bigger table right before the entrance to Indy.

  • @robjohnson470
    @robjohnson470 Před 5 lety +2

    Hey great content man, very well done! I'm struggling with a bike choice. Considering 5010 or bronson (2019). If I wanted to do drops like these, would the 130/130 5010 be enough suspension or would you recommend the Bronson 150/160.
    THANKS

    • @TheMoreWeExplore
      @TheMoreWeExplore Před 5 lety +2

      You could do it on a 5010, but theres not much room for error with that little travel. A bronson would be much better suited for these drops.
      I guess the question is... will you be riding drops like this every month, or just a couple times each year? If just once or twice a year. A 5010 could get you by (watch the 50 to 01 crew on their 5010s). If you're hoping to do a lot of riding like this, i recommend a Bronson.
      The 5010 will be more fun than a the Bronson on mellow trails, but the Bronson can handle big stuff better. Also take a look at the spot rollik.

    One thing i found while doing a scary drop is that fear may cause touching the break at the last tip of the lip. This is instinct and can be deadly, so I adopted death grip as the best solution.

    • @willbros1499
      @willbros1499 Před 5 lety +1

      The FIRST thing we do with ANY newer rider that is learning tech stuff...is FORCE them to get their finger off their front brake. I've seen more crashes from that than ANY other single issue. Rider crashes..."What happened?" "Too much front brake." Brakes are great, but oh man...they cause more crashes than anything else!
