This is the first 180 RPM precision hand cannon I've ever liked in #destiny2 . I cannot believe how much I love it. I just can't get enough of that easy 3-tap, and I'm just waiting for that clip of a long 2-tap streak. I know it's coming.

For hand cannons I was only good with 180s and then one day I started using Sturm… omg! Then yesterday, September 11, 2023, I found a Combine Action 120 with Adagio… 15 kill streak with devour on. I’m sure people thought I was hacking.
You should look at the Ikelos HC if you haven’t already with focused fury. The origin trait makes it so that it is actually very good on that specific 180.
Exotics that legitimately change how you play a subclass. Top notch this season. Brian's are my favorite so far.
I just wanted to point out that after the range change (don’t know if it was before or after zoom change) word has 33 m at 50/60 range and 37 after killing wind active. Something to think about. 12:05

Word Of Crota was my favorite hand cannon in D1 and I have loved 180s ever since D2's existence, the fact that this is the best 180 and also one of my favorite guns ever... I cant wait to get this thing

In response to your PvP build, consider instead Fluted Barrel with a Range masterwork. Compared to Smallbore with a Handling masterwork, it has +3 Range, -2 Stability, +5 Handling. Pretty good trade, for a net total increase of +8 stats.

Sword logic is one of the coolest perks because it makes the gun feel hungry.
You get a kill for the buff and you feel it want more to extend or enhance it. Its like bad juju. "If you believe your weapon wants to end all existence, then so it will."
My goodness, why haven't I still gotten my hands on one of these.
180 hand cannons are just fun imo, and this one is like, insane. In pve they CHUNK with the hand cannon buff and are super good with the accuracy and fire rate at killing what you need when you need it. Plus the large mag keeps you going. Pvp they are still nice for someone who is good at managing buffs or likes playing in air, plus that big mag comes in handy there too. Idk, the may not have the best base to, but there is a lot of good going on with em imo.
Also side note repulsor brace feels great on here, especially with a volatile rounds build.
And I know we probably won't ever get this anytime soon but I'd love some kinda primary or maybe even special with vorpal weapon and sword logic. That would be a blast.
I've been levelling the ikelos hc and actually been surprisingly enjoying it. Once I saw the rolls for this I've definitely been chasing it

I think the range changes really helped 180's. I also have never liked them, they were immediate deletes, the only one in my very stuffed vault is a triple tap/incandescent Trust. I really tried to like an opening shot/eye of the storm Trust in PvP and it didn't survive. Just gave Word a spin after beating the raid in PvP because I was tooo lazy to pull a different HC and it felt so good. I'm sure the crafted Word will be better, but you should try Trust again. I got insanely lucky with another OS/EOS roll, and it feels amazing. The call of it feeling like a longer range sidearm is spot on
I think you’re on to something with the range changes. I went back to try trust for this review and still didn’t care for it, but they all felt better than before for sure. Word of Crota just really stands out after using it a bit.

Yeah I rarely use hand cannons in pve but this thing has had my attention since release. I got a red border to drop today it has repulsor brace and frenzy. On a void build that’s a good combo, makin some viotile action plus frenzy.. very nice. I could see using this in my void hunter build

just got the adept HC with dragonfly and destablaizing rounds and its absolutely crazy for pve, even enjoy it a lot in pvp. Probably my favorite weapon in this raid next to the scout rifle.
So does it have to be a craftable drop as in have the red squire around it because mine didn't drop with the craftable option
I am absolutely loving word of crota. Even in comp its been consistent.
Crazy because I got mine after the first encounter... It dropped with destabilizing rounds and repulsor brace... I love it...

Edit: demo adrenaline junkie could be a nasty roll in pvp, Cammy put out a golden tricorn video using magnetic grenades and the void fragment that causes your grenades to weaken enemies, all you need is one shot and a grenade and youll be all sweet, could be fun for chaining kills
First Word of Crota I got dropped with Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing round. Decided to give it a try with the Warlock CotOG build with the new exotic gauntlets.
That was the moment I understood Word of Crota would be the first gun I'd craft, with those same perks: it's nuts, first time I'm having a blast with a 180 HC in endgame PvE.
Devour+void overshield while dealing more damage and explosions to debuffed enemies. Add to that the lovely Leviathan's Breath and you'll finally become the Voidlock menace you were always meant to be!

I have a bit of a question, I been playing pvp my whole destiny career but only been playing trials for the past couple seasons with little results. Is this hand cannon worth bring into trials ? I’m trying to figure out a good kit for me

Can you 3 tap at a higher resilience with precision instrument if you're using knucklehead radar?
Repulsor with Adrenaline junkie. I use primaries that match subclass in PvE, so this pairs well with volatile on grenade kills.
The ikelos hc is actually really interesting if you give it some time, its origin trait gives you a lot of ammo for just breaking a shield, combining this with focused fury you get a 3 tap as well, its just not as crazy as this hc

I got killing wind and sword logic adept. Mines bugged and shows it has alloy mag even though the stats show as if it has accurized rounds.
I just like that it's now not "Get Rangefinder." It's "Rangefinder has nothing to do with range."
Word of Crota is my favorite weapon from the raid so far (haven't gotten a Song of Ir Yut yet). I have a Dragonfly/Precision Instrument roll that I've been LOVING in pve.

I’m probably still going to get precision instrument, at least for my Getaway Artist build.
Xur was selling a 68 roll for Getaway recently and it finally completed my build.
The way I look at it with precision instrument the multiple combination of stacking damage with the clean up potential of arc souls make this particular perk much more effective in initial engagements and more than makes up for the lack of 3 tap on higher resilience.
I also like arc souls for shotgunning as it helps pad out damage for those situations where you would have left them with a sliver and arc souls also help with using 180’s to chip down guardians prior to shotgun clean up outside optimal range.
Fringe scenario, but one that is effective for what it is.
Oh, that is a smart move too. Arc souls could totally make up that damage. Still have to hit crits in a certain order, but not bad!

I had the same idea while I was at work, thinking about Precision Instrument, and I was so happy to nerd out the entire time.
I'm so happy to see these theories actually working in practice! Almost makes Warlock me wish I was a Hunter to easily loop Dodge, Reaper, and Devour.
I was thinking about trying Phoenix Dive on a Rain of FIre Dawnblade, maybe Radiant, with Reaper, Heavy Handed, and/or Firepower for extra Orb generation.
Ah man! This kind of thing, this silly buildcrafting on a whim and not by demand, is what Destiny is to me! Well done Legole.
P.S.: Welcome to the 180 family. :D If I could make a suggestion, I'm a big fan of Frontier's Cry (Iron Banner HC) because of Kill Clip. That perk lets you 2C1B completely on its own, and loop with each reload. But if you want to build into the Solar element just like Trust, you can use Ember of Empyrean to extend Radiant's 3-tap potential, and stack that with 1 Solar Surge mod to 3-tap all Resiliences... Then reload for Kill Clip and keep the 3-tap ball rolling. On top of that, 1.0s TTK with all bodyshots is no joke on mobile targets.
Its also a base stat monster compared to other 180's. On top of that, it has a short barrel with very clean, high-posted sights that don't hinder visibility at all. As an M&K player, I absolutely despise Posterity's thicc gun model and THICC reticle making it had to track. For these reasons, my Rapid Hit + Kill Clip roll on Frontier's Cry is my go-to. (Daring today, aren't I?) Bonus points for Steady Hands being underrated.

This gun falls neatly into a particular build of mine because of demo on the left. So my craft would be smallbore/fluted, accurized, demo, destabilizing rounds

MMMHMMM. I should have mentioned that combo for Titans and Warlocks specifically.
One thing to note with Precision Instrument: The damage only applies to your precision hits but the stack goes up with damage even if its a body. Just for anyone confused when they see the perk stack up even if they didn't hit all precision hits.

It doesn’t roll with accurised rounds tho in my crafting screen so it’s mag page is definitely wrong here but i good alternative is ricochet

I'm still enjoying it even with all the broken stuff going on. Crazy awesome gun.
It feels like this is something best for the quick play playlist. Swordlogic doesn't seem applicable in Comp or Trials. I'd be having to outgun unfavorable odds(not going to count teamshotting here). My opponents would could have a 140 or pulse, auto, etc. Sword logic being 7 seconds is long, yes, but from the time to kill without it, I'm probably at half hp if not lower. This would make it hard to push with swordlogic unless I have a heal of some sorts. Taking the time to heal would reduce that timer by a lot. Mitigating that wise if I were a hunter for example, I'd be needing healing grenades or Wormhusk. That takes away from tripmines, scatter, or any grenades good at protecting a revive, if not just higher damage. Not to mention, this is if my opponents haven't already repositioned or took the offensive on me. Most applicable, I can see this being used for people like Cammy, GrenaderJake, or Frostbolt. Even then, I don't think they'd want over persay kill clip/rampage Igneous, Round Robin, Austringer, Eyasluna, Exalted Truth, or even now Warden's Law two burst with insane range. Warden's Law is having perpetual with kill clip, or perpetual zen moment. Zen moment and perpetual motion allow for worse stability stat wise due to perk adjusting neutral game. Giving the gun options for more range effective barrels, adept range mod, and stats coming into play.
I just don't see how Word of Crota would be a good pick to bring into Trials or Comp even with the Sword Logic. Quickplay or Iron Banner, I can see it excelling in, but not anything requiring higher play. Pve wise, I can't see any reason not to use it other than maybe a gm. It's a monster pve wise.
If anyone takes the time to read all that and reply, please tell me your thoughts. Maybe someone can justify it being used in Trials or Comp. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment anyone who does.

Void titan main here. I love the explosion build you suggested but take it even further with controlled demolition aspect and echo of expulsion fragment for 2 ADDITIONAL void explosion on top of the gun roll. I gotta have it

sword logic, demo, and the new helm that gives u a 4x surge mod. Throw a nade anywhere. get 5 seconds of 2 taps and get your nade back after a few kills.

Definitely recommend subsistence sword logic. For all the reasons you said in pvp pretty much applies for pve imo sword logic over rampage all day more damage more time yes please and sub just keeps the bullets going. However I do have another one crafter for my non gfalcon hunters. Repuls and destabilize definetly a good time.
Of course the only crota weapon yet to drop for me. Would be perfect since I'm on a void hunter build loadout in PVP a lot these days.

I've been enjoying subsistence/destabilizing, don't have to reload much on squishier ads.
Subsistence is def a good one here. With that large mag size it truly feels unending.

Trust best shine with explosive rounds vs using golden tri. imo.
Demo and frenzy/adrenaline is where it’s at for pve, destabilizing is nice but cooldown sucks. Was kind hoping for explosive payload or repulsor brace to be pairable with demo.
For insta volatile explosion or shields and ability combos
You can get word of crota from it yut and crota, not just crota. Also, I love 180’s, and my favorites are service revolver and optative. Optative with rapid hit kill clip is probably my favorite. While I will definitely craft word of crota, I will miss rapid hit. I am a stability main and rapid hit on 180’s is chefs kiss for me. I wish precision instrument would let you three tap at least up to 7 resil, but sword logic just seems better. 7.5 s compared to kill clips 4 I think. Posterity just doesn’t feel great to me, I don’t know why, so I might find this to be my favorite 180. Thanks for the in depth look, I wanted to know the potential and I now know.
