I look forward to hearing from you! Love, Jennifer
One of my goals this year is to re-establish my relationships with friends. The pandemic has made me realize how much I need contact with those special people in my life.
This is a great goal and your friends an family will also benefit from this also. Happy New Year!
I love this!
This is also my goal! I find I am so focused on housework, husband, kids, and our business I don’t make time for friends. That is going to change this year :-)
I love this goal! How will you achieve that? I have it in my phone to call various people certain days. Another one is to text less and pick up the phone more.
Amen!!👍🙌🥰
One of my goals for the year is to stick to using a planner! 📆 I always start off strong but end up losing it a few months into the year 😂
Praying for everyone and the goals they have set! Here's to working hard and making them come true.
You can do this! I hope it can be an enjoyable experience for you so that the motivation stays high throughout the year ☺️
Check out the fly lady, she has a solution to this problem :)
The tip at the end is so key! My husband has talked about this so much. When I keep some of these things to myself I actually do a lot better. I don’t feel the need to prove myself. It’s me vs me! Great vid and Happy New Year!!
It’s true! Telling other people too much about my goals makes me feel pressure to perform. I like keeping my plans close to the vest and surprising everyone.
Bonne et Heureuse Année! As a teacher, I've always known about the power of writing things down, using our hand, fingers and a pen to understand better, learn faster and remember longer what is important to us. Thank you so much for mentioning this and the article. It is a fact, taking notes on a tablet or any kind of screen can be helpful but will never have the same results as handwriting, at least for a vast number of people. It was so devastating to see many schools banning books and notebooks at some point, to replace them with screens - and fortunately this trend had a short life :)
Hello, Thank you for sharing this comment; sometimes, our personal habits are so well ingrained that I don't even think to share these thoughts. Yes, we see, write, hear if said aloud and tactically are using our fingers to deepen the thought. All the best, Julie
Never share a positive goal, something you’re doing to enrich your life, with a chronic Debbie Downer. I find the first thing they say is, “You’re making me feel so guilty.” You might need to quietly pursue your goal and only share the great results with people you know will be encouraging, positive, and affirming-even if those people are part of an online community. Don’t allow negative people’s brain weasels to derail your dreams!
Yes! Even when my husband and I are doing something like exercising in our front yard, I can think of a couple people who if they walk past and see us (we live on a property with 20 other families) they'll comment something like, "stop showing off..." or "trying to show up the rest of us?!" or "you guys are so good, it makes me feel guilty." I don't like getting those responses! We started inviting them to join us in exercise and they always refuse!
My experience is people react this way mostly when I talk about weight loss/ fitness, decluttering, and paying off debt/ saving money. I guess those are areas where people feel the most insecure.
@@racheldossantos6148 ...... if they are making comments.... but don't want to " join you " then I wouldn't concern myself...as Miss Jennifer has stated " Remain Unbothered " and continue on ... ! Perhaps if you say " oh, maybe you'll join us for refreshments, afterward...?" It's a gracious way to perhaps get them more interested, if you wish to get them interested. (?) Anyway, What a great thing you are doing for yourselves, don't let others take away the magic of it. 🙂😊💫. 👏🏻
Thanks, Jennifer! I’m looking forward to my new planner arriving in the mail any day now. I’m trying a new planner this year from Glory Days, which is designed specifically for moms of special needs children. Our best laid plans can take sharp turns, unexpected detours, and even come to screeching halts; however having a written down plan in place has been so helpful for me in getting back on course time and again. 💕
May your new year be blessed of the Lord. 🙏🏻 ~ Cara
so much love! I care for special needs in Australia and I love it!
I started keeping my goals in my notes app and I look at them often! I make a list of how many books I want to read and this helps me choose books over shows or social media also! I read 111 books in 2021 because of it- I do count all the books I read aloud for homeschool also. I noticed I achieved almost all my goals and will decide what goals will carry over this year!
I love that. So inspiring!
111 books read!! Well done. Oh, I think that I’ve just been challenged! What fun! I appreciate your counting the books that you read to your children.
I read books, Kindle and I count audiobooks, too.
Thanks for the motivation to read even more (it’s not a hardship , it’s my joy ).
I follow Miranda Mills and order older British novels online.
Wishing you a blessed new year filled with love, laughter and new adventures. And lots of books!
Wonderful!
@@lindahenderson1625 Do you read Elizabeth Goudge? Her novels are amazing!
That is fabulous! 111 books read! I thought my goal was lofty at 30 for the year!! 📚 job well done.
This was an excellent video! My one big goal this year is to do the Chic assignment every month but really dig into it. I bought a special note book for it so I could really enforce it into my mind. These tips are invaluable! Thank you
Happy New Year! I'm dusting off my planner and ready to start fresh! I turn 40 this year, so working on healthy eating and maintaining my exercise routine for long-term health and strength. Also working on being more intentional with my family. Thanks for the video, I always love your positive spirit, Jennifer!
I'm cheering you on!
I will do the same 40 this february🥰
Thank you Emily! Grown children and redefining my appearance also!
I will be 30 in a few days.
I turned 40 this December and I have similar goals. I also am starting a new hobby and hope to go on a trip to England later this year!
I love goal setting! It’s fascinating how writing them down makes such difference. This year my top goals are to grow my business and successfully intermittent fast for the full year.
It's amazing what writing your goals down can do!
I do want to put together a book of the family stories that I know that others in the family may not know. I have started, but need to get a little more systematic about it. I am using habit stacking (James Clear again!) and it really works well. Thank you for being a safe place to be encouraged.
Habit stacking is great -- it's the only reason I ever get anything in the mail on time. Because I realized the post office is on my way home from the gym, so if I can have the packages ready to bring with me to the gym, voila!
I bought a planner 10 months ago and it's really changed how I live everyday.
1. I set realistic weekly goals
2. I work on business, personal and relationship goals.
3. I just try to tick off 1 thing a day. That's it.
4. When I'm working on a goal I put a timer on for 30 mins with 5 mins breaks.
Somehow I always achieve more 🥰☺️💞
Happy new year Jennifer, so excited to share 2022 with you 🥰☺️
I like that strategy!
@@TheDailyConnoisseur thanks Jennifer. I also wanted to add I also do a gratitude journal, along with my planner.
Focuses my mind on a 'yes I can' mentality.
The timer idea is awesome!
Great topic. I am such a planner, but I love how you take time everyday or most days to sit and have tea in the afternoon and read a good book. I added this to my daily routine. Thank you for the gentle push!
Hi Jennifer, great reminders in your video. I am in my fifties but still love learning. I am currently working on language acquisition. I am an intermediate /advanced in French and my goal is to pass the DELF B2 or C1 test. I went 13 years to a German School. I love German and so regret that in the years I was taking care of my children (I am almost an empty nester now) I let go of it. Now I am also trying to recover it. I am a Spanish native speaker and when I first came to the US, I focused on improving my English and neglected my other languages. Now I have the time to study again. I love reading and another of my goals is to read books in their original languages. Other goals are to find a book club, exercise to gain strength, eat more fruit and veggies, limit shopping to eliminate waste, live a more frugal life. Thank you for your lovely video.
I wrote down all my 2022 goals in my journal. I open my journal everyday and this will keep me focused. I wrote exercise but I added other things like paint a beautiful antique dresser I got on Craigslist & find new Keto recipes & practice minimalism & zero waste. I am so excited for 2022!
OMG I love Keto ice cream (Of course, no cooking involved)! LOL Initially this was bought for my hubby, but now I love all of the flavors! Enjoy Keto cooking!
Great video on setting and achieving goals! That’s how I paid off my car early by putting it on paper and budgeting in advance to see how much money I could apply to the car payment from each paycheck to get to my goal date. Once I put my goal in writing with an action plan that was doable for me, it motivated me even more to reach my goal sooner (which I did)!
Great encouragement! Thinking up things to do is easy but the follow through can be hard. Your video helps with the "get up and go". I have had a long standing morning Bible study and once I started bringing my calender along with my Bible time it has truly helped me get into the habit of checking my calendar daily...since Bible study is daily I refer to each book daily. 😄🙌
In December I bought a Clever Fox planner- which has copious pages for goal-setting and vision boards and mind maps, and I grew intimidated and have been afraid to write in it! This video of yours is the technique and know-how that I needed, the mentor-ship that I desired before putting pen to page. Thank you for your guidance and wisdom! I feel much more confident in using my planner now. I’ve begun the habit of reading before bed and I want to utilize that time to read some classics, so it was cool that you mentioned that as an example:)
Thank you Jennifer - keeping goals to myself; YES! I actually told someone I was going to play my piano every day and their reply? “No you won’t!” So….. no more sharing, just gonna do it!
So, my word this year is Perseverance. This year I am getting a new planner so I can do this as well as use a bullet journal. I am using a planner to map out the goals and the bullet journal to gauge how far I have come with the goals. My goals this year are running a half marathon and reading 75 books for the year. I have not run in two years due to a hip injury and I am just now feeling good about putting my body through the training for it. I know that it will be a challenge hence the word of the year. Just thought I would share the goals for the year with this community. I know that you all are encouraging and motivating. By the way the marathon will be done doing intervals of 1 minute run 1 minute walk the first half and 2 minute run 1 minute walk the second half.
Happy and blessed new year, everyone! The last tip is the best. Agree 100%! Thank you, Jennifer 🙌👍🏻❤️🌹
Thank you so much
Thank you❤️❤️🤗
I am getting back to reading so I appreciate the tip on setting time for that instead of TV!
Me too!
OMG Jennifer, I feel that this year has been full of scattered & tattered loose ends that have spiraled out of control into a life of chaos. I needed some simple guidance like this video today. I love being organized & taking time to do it, but this year was full of unforeseen circumstances. I ordered a mini Day Designer planner & I'm feeling sooooooo much better just knowing help is on its way!!
I just ordered the Daily Planner in Orange Blossom! 🍊
Thank you Jennifer, I needed this.
I definitely use this idea! I write down dr appointments, work hours, short grocery lists and often keep track of the important time of the month.
Thank you Jennifer this definitely is a goal of mine this year. 🌹💚
*_Yes, planning is everything!_*
Love this! Thank you!
I love using a bullet journal system for my planner, and it's made it me so much more dynamic with setting goals! I liked what you shared about "encoding" - that helps neurologically explain what I kind of innately know about the value of writing things down!
Thanks so much, Jenifer! What a good way to start the year.
Loved this! Thank you!
Thanks for these tips !!
Thank you 😊💕💛☺️ Have a great day!
Happy New Year, Jennifer, thank you for all your amazing videos!
Happy New Year Jennifer! I enjoy using a planner to keep me focused. I wrote down my goals for this year and then took each one and broke it down like you articulated in this video. Each week I schedule the small actions I will take. My goal is to make the action so small that it would be easy to accomplish. This is the year I will make my goals happen successfully. Thank you for this video.
Thank you Jennifer for sharing this video! I absolutely love it! I've already rewatched it and I know it'll be a favourite I'll rewatch again and again. I've been somewhat obsessed with goal setting, task management and organisation for years and have your course as well. This is such a great summary and insight into how you achieve so much. If it's something you'd consider and enjoy sharing I'd love to see a part 2 video showing past goals you've achieved and the corresponding planners and goals in your planners. Thanks so much for all you do! You and your work are a constant source of inspiration to me (and I know many others in this community) over many years! Thank you Jennifer 🙏💕
Happy New Year! This was very helpful, thank you.
Happy New Years Everyone! I wanted to share my goal with everyone here. My goal is to start an online blog that will form into a business. The focus on Modern Day Homemaker's who need structure and inspiration. I really want to focus on DIYs homemaker can create on a budget to decorate their homes, planning routines & schedules to get work done around the house and tons of homemaking tips/advice for all things around the home. I pray I am more consistent and don't give up. I keep telling myself that since I homeschool I don't have the time but I really do have the time.
So very helpful! Thank you, Jennifer.
I love this! And I never even thought about setting specific times in a planner to do smaller tasks like a linen closet. I can see how that would definitely be helpful. And you're also absolutely correct about being careful who you tell your goals to!
I’ve been waiting for a New Years video from you 🥰 beautiful video as always. You are so inspiring Jennifer!! xx
Great encouragement
VERY useful thank you! Time to plan now!
I love this video!! I use a planner for work every day, so writing my smaller goals in the margins and in the notes section is such a great idea!! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I journal everyday and I have a planner. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you, Jennifer! I do my planning on my computer; however, I miss writing in my Daily Planner. I am going to order a planner to help with encoding my goals today! :-)
Thank you for sharing your tips!!!!! Have a lovely day.
Thank you, thank you, thank you; I needed this❤
Happy new year. I enjoyed the message here. Thank you.
Love this video thank you so much for sharing❤❤🙏🙏
Happy New Year Jennifer, and everyone else.
I’ve been doing this for about five years using the bullet journal method, sort of anyway… While I find writing things down helpful there is something else… I realised that it doesn’t necessarily follow that I will do what I intended to do. It’s been easy to write down detailed plans but not so easy to get on with the doing. I have either ignored them or been distracted by little things or major things that shook my confidence and belief or caused a real problem that stopped things from happening. I could say, come on, do it anyway! I don’t have that kind of personality though. Because of that I carry over goals from one year to the next and it all gets very tiring.
I can definitely see the downside of looking at what I haven’t achieved but I don’t know if it would be even worse if I couldn’t see it. Journaling, as in off-loading thoughts onto paper, in my case writing not typing, is a very useful tool even so.
You are not alone. I literally got nothing done this week except buy a new planner -- I was aiming to have my whole year organized on paper by now, ha ha. But it will happen. Self-recrimination is useless. "Believe it can happen and take the next step."
I have a similar challenge, although I’m also very successful with some goals. I have to wonder if this means we’re trying to do too much or things that don’t necessarily align with our current stages in life. To solve for this, I’m trying to focus on managing my energy levels and finding ways to automate my goals and routines. Also, I took a course on mini habits several years ago (on Udemy or one of those similar platforms), and I’m trying to incorporate more of that approach. Best of luck!
Absolutely awesome, love all your tips !!!
Happy New Year, Jennifer!
I looked so long for a planner and now I’m unhappily settled. I wish I had seen this one at the right time, it looks perfect. I guess I’ll have a good planner next year 😜
Happy New Year Jennifer and thank you for such an encouraging video. A few of my goals this year is to take my multivitamin daily. Another is to walk at least 30 minutes in the evening 5 days a week. Until this becomes second nature. 🌺
Wonderful goals! You can do this, Lisset!
Thank you for this inspiring video!
Happy New Year!
Excellent tips Jennifer! I found that once I started actually scheduling my action steps in my planner it made a huge difference. The combination of setting goals, writing out action steps and then scheduling those action steps in my planner improves productivity tenfold. I am much more productive than when just writing out a to-do list.
Best advice ever! Be careful who you share your goals with!
Thank you great video ! Love your videos ! They're so helpful. Happy New Year!
The most practical advice, thank you. One of my goals is to implement the pomodoro technique at work, to help me stop procrastinating
Thank u so much Jennifer, this has been very helpful for me ❤ thank u again!
This refresher on planning and achieving goals is perfectly timed. Thanks, Jennifer!
I like it that you put psychology behind these steps presented. It helped me understand more about why we do what we do. In the past I thought it wasn’t useful to set a deadline because it was going to stress me out if I didn’t hit it but I found out if I put a range of pounds to lose of what I could actually do and what would be challenging this month then it would be more appealing to me. I enjoyed this video very much.
It is so true about keeping your goals to your self. I have learnt that the hard way. I love your home and your calm delivery.
Thanks to you, Jennifer, I have have been using this wonderful planner for over a year. Thank you so much, it is a life changer!
This was a video I did not know I needed! So good!
Inspirational!
Great video. Thanks
I appreciate that tip on keeping some of those goals to yourself. Thank you and Happy New Year 🎊🎆🎈
Wow, simple and doable!!! 👌👌👌
Hi Jennifer! Welcome back!! This was an absolutely excellent video!! Thank you!!! It's my goal to be more organized and this helped tremendously!!! Take care!! Love, Kellie
Happy new year Jennifer. You inspired me so much. I found your channel few months ago. You are so inspiring. I will write down the goals and actions as you mentioned. Lots of love ❤️❤️.
This is inspiring, I needed some motivation to start a planner. Thanks Jennifer for the great tips!
Thank you SO very much, Jennifer! The holidays we wonderful but, in full disclosure, I have been eagerly anticipating their ending and the return of the Daily Connoisseur. 😃 I have missed your smiling face, wise counsel, and today's video is absolutely PERFECT! I was already planning on setting up my calendars and planners today (a relatively new concept for me to enjoy, being the spontaneous, creative type 😊), so your timely video was, truly, a God send for me. Thank you again, ever so much! I pray for you and your family often, and pray the presence of our dear Lord Jesus and the revelation of His Holy Spirit would be yours in a very special, profund way this year. God bless you and keep up the great work! 😃💖🙌
Thank you so much! ♥️
I loved this! Even though I already love to plan, I can always use more inspiration- especially inspiration to carry out the action steps! 😜
Happy New Year. This was a very helpful and I started making my goal list. Yes be careful who to share with. Some people will say "hey, weren't you going to do this or that" and it feels so defeating. There are bumps and interruptions in life and we needn't be hard on ourselves or anyone else.
Excellent tips as usual. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Jennifer!
I am so grateful for this posting, as optimizing my use of a planner is actually one of my goals for 2022. I have already implemented some of your suggestions, yay!
Great to see you back Jennifer! These are all great tips Jennifer, the last is one I hold dear for many reasons🌹
Thank you, Nikki!
Happy New Year Jennifer! This is so practical. I'm much better at using my work planner than I'm am with my home planner. I'm a crossing guard supervisor so my work planner is in my car and I use it religiously while I do my rounds. One of my first goals is to use my planner like I use the one for work. Secondly, I must lose weight. It's become a health issue at this point. I have about 35 pounds to lose. Nobody tells you that when you go through the change your fat moves to your tummy putting pressure on the heart. Since my metabolism is so slow, time goals can be discouraging. I will go with an average number per month and be patient and get this stuff off. I'll start with visiting my doctor and ask about intermittent fasting and exercise.
I'm cheering you on!
@@TheDailyConnoisseur Thank you friend.
Please consider seeing a functional doctor who will review all your medical tests monthly as needed. I've needed thyroid meds all my life and finally at 53 have found the correct doctor 5 states away that is helping me put all the puzzle pieces together for my health. He is the 30th doctor (conservative count) I've seen in my adult years and I pay out of pocket (ouch!) I've eaten whole foods in moderation all my adult life, exercised an hour a day 4 days a week and couldn't get the weight off. Menopause is a whole new challenge. Best wishes and all the best, Julie
You can absolutely do this! 💪🏽🧡
Hi Jennifer, Excellent ideas shared here today. I’ve used a paper planner since high school so I’m fascinated that people have not tried this helpful option.
Maximizing my trips up & down the stairs throughout each day while using T-Tapp form is my beginning exercise goal for January. Considering the next step as I meditate this month.
Thanks again and all the best, Julie 🌷
I had a moment of clarity while watching this video that I did not expect. I'm an online grad student, and I use most-if not all-of these tips for my studies. They definitely work! I'm also a 40-something divorcee who needs to finish decluttering/organizing my apartment. What often happens when you get divorced is that you end up living somewhere smaller than where you lived while you were married. That means you have a lot of stuff that you're trying to fit into less space. Emotionally, some of this stuff is difficult to go through as well. It's been a decade and a half+ for me, and I still sometimes put things off.
That is much less often than in the past, thankfully. Now, I'm over being scared or procrastinating out of fear that I might find something upsetting. It has finally become more important and valuable to me to get it done. I try to do a little each day, but it is easy to put off especially with classes starting again.
I think I'm going to try setting due dates for going through areas of my home and assigning more specific tasks to get things done. Starting at the due date for a paper and working my way back to the present time to plan out how to get the paper written step by step works for class. Being proactive and intentional in doing the same kind of planning and putting it on my actual calendar should do the trick.
It seems so obvious, but it wasn't. In any case, I do have a motivation to help me stay on track. I'm halfway through my Master's work, so I should be jobhunting within the next year. I expect I will need to move for a job in my field, so having less stuff to move would be ideal. I know that these tips work in one area of my life, so they should translate easily to another. If you don't do planning like this, then I would give it a try. Good luck to all in achieving your goals and developing new habits in the new year! Thanks, @the Daily Connoisseur!
I’m excited for your new beginning!
This is the first year that I'm actually setting real goals for myself. One is to do several no spend months and the other big one is to build my abd my families health. A smaller one is to read 12 books this year. Excited to make some progress!
Best video ever! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Both 0ractical and inspiring.
Jennifer, this was so helpful! So many AHA moments here. Thank you so much ♥️♥️😘♥️
I love your videos.💕
I also love setting goals and achieving my goals. I am striving to use my new She's in her Apron (thanks Kimmy) every single day.
I have not been able to stay consistent with my planners in the past...buying new ones and using it for a few weeks at the beginning... forgetting for a while and then going back to it.
I am considering buying a treadmill because the weather is so rainy and windy where I live and I want to build up to walking 5 miles a day.
Wonderful video! So timely. I will implement your tips!
Great topic as I received a beautiful planner from my daughter for Christmas!
Jennifer, you are a delightful young lady. Keep the encouragement coming.
Happy New Year! One of my goals is to be more present and enjoy my days.
Oh Jennifer! I needed to hear this! 👍🏼 thanks to you I read the Atomic Habits and this video is perfect to incorporate all those small habits into goals. Thank you for your videos 💖 All the best wishes for you and your family in 2022!
Happy New Year! I'm so happy I found this positive channel. My 2022 goals are to be more organized and healthy. Of coarse these two goals will take in a lot of topics.
Love your videos…thanks! I bought your first book and it came timely to begin the new year❣️❤️
I love planners. A couple of years ago I found one called PA Planner. It stands for Personal Assistant Planner and it's for entrepreneurs. The business planning pages have been a tremendous help in my business. It comes from the U.K. so shipping was a little slower but totally worth it. Happy New Year Jennifer!!!
I read ‘Atomic Habits’ after viewing your video reviewing the book last year. When I began an exercise & weight loss program in July, I began keeping a record daily of time, distance, and steps on the treadmill, as well as weekly weigh-ins on Monday mornings. It helps immeasurably! I also started a planner in March, 2021 because I felt like I was drifting aimlessly during Covid lockdown and needed to actually See a daily plan/schedule to increase motivation. I have scheduled in the exercise time and it does help to see it written out. Thank-you for these terrific videos & please continue to provide inspiration to us alk.
Such a great video Jennifer ! You have motivated Me to start my planner . I just need to stick with it ..
