      I agree. My nephews and their parents shifted to Sydney in 2019. Their boys were rugby players and really good at it! They played rugby at school (don't know what the school's name is in Northern Beaches) and stood out and left everyone behind. One is a first five and the other a fullback. They were chosen for a rep team and played games at that level, but there wasn't any competition as to speak, they were really good. Because there was no real future in rugby for development, always being told they are the future and nothing happened, they watched their mates at church and on their street play league. So this year they are at a community college and playing league in Penrith. They both told me that even at the ages of 14 and 16 they both have been placed on a Panthers development training pathways with access to training facilities and support staff. The 16 year old has just finished talking with guys at Campbell Town about future pathways. So you are knocking it right on the head mate. My nephews will be a loss to Rugby Australia because they wanted to be Wallibies, but now playing league they want to be Kangaroos! By the way, their mum is European Aboriginal and Australian born. My cuz their dad is South Auckland raised and played at Mangere East Hawks League club and the Otahuhu Rugby Club.

    Here’s some comments about Eddie Jones from John Connelly (ex wallabies coach that took over coaching from 2006-2007 with a 64% win record vs Eddie Jones record from 2001-2005 of 57.89% win record):
    Eddie Jones is a a 'charlatan'.
    John Connolly succeeded Jones when the outspoken rugby coach left his post as Wallabies coach in 2006, having guided the Aussies over a four-year spell.
    Jones went on to coach the Japanese and English national teams before making a return to the Wallabies earlier this year, but after losing to South Africa and Argentina in his first two games in charge, Connolly fears the appointment is a backwards step.
    'How did we end up with Eddie again? He is full of it. He talks a great game but plays a terrible one,' Connolly, who labelled the comeback a 'bloody disaster', told the Telegraph
    'He is a charlatan, he is a failed selector. He was the captain's pick by the chairman who just came into the job.
    When I took over from Eddie, the players were like beaten down sheepdogs. If you walked in a room they would have their heads down and were scared to do anything.
    'There was no leadership. There was no development. It was a total void that took nearly a year to rebuild. I can't believe we have made the same mistake again.'

      When I watched the Wallabies this year, I saw divisions and lack of commitment that went beyond Eddie. Moreso, I think his plans would've paid off with time. Anyways, I'm viewing from a distance, all I know is he's quality when given time.

    Australian rugby’s in such disarray. Eddie says he was 100% committed but then appoints a foreign-based captain. Nothing against Will Skelton, seems a decent bloke, but what message does that send if you bugger off overseas?

    • @davidfife-nm7uy
      @davidfife-nm7uy Před 10 měsíci

      Bugger off overseas? It’s called making a living in a professional sport. So we don’t pick a player as captain, just because he plays overseas. Your logic is great

    • @yeahdefinitely6607
      @yeahdefinitely6607 Před 10 měsíci

      @@davidfife-nm7uy because, I don’t know, you want to retain your best to grow the game domestically - which is the very problem with Aussie rugby at present. I’ve got no problem with Big Will going off to play and make money overseas - good for him. But making him captain sends the wrong message about growing the game at home and rewarding those players who stay. That’s my logic.

    Zoom Call: "This is not a job offer okay? But how would you feel about coming back to us? There'd be mucho bucks in it for you? Have a chew on it during the WC and see what you think." So Eddie's being honest. Never offered a job.
    I also giggle a bit at the unfortunate 'money' allusions he makes at the beginning about blowing up banks and no money in them. Hmmm. I'd suspect his out clause from Australia got him something nice, and his next job will give him a nicer contract than his last one.
