  • Hello flight simmers, and welcome back to Alpha Hotel Flight Simulator training.
This video is part 3 of our 6th flight lesson in our instrument training series. In this video, we will do a demonstration flight to show how to fly an ILS approach in the Cessna 172 classic analogue or "steam gauge" panel. We'll take to the skies in the Cessna 172 classic for a short IFR flight from Butler memorial airport (KBUM) to New Century Air Center, where we'll fly the ILS approach to runway 36.
We'll talk about how to set up the flight, weather, and aircraft, and then show how to successfully navigate onto and fly the approach.
In video 1 of this series, we learned about the system components of an ILS, and how to use them. In video two, we did a demonstration flight showing how to fly an ILS approach in the G1000 equipped Cessna 172.
We'll talk about how to set up the flight, weather, and aircraft, and then show how to successfully navigate onto and fly the approach.

Great video. I wondered why the trick with "Direct To" to show the DME was not interfering with NAV until I realised that it was GPS and we had the NAV Radios on VLOC.

That happens in real life as well. Always good to double check where you nav information is coming from!
Glad you enjoyed the content, and thanks for watching!

These are the exact types of flights I'm interested in for simulator use only. Not going for a pilot license or anything. It was a great video but perhaps too much for casual simmers. Maybe need to watch it 10 times.
