  • We had great Fluke (Summer Flounder) fishing on an aluminum boat that weighs only 700 pounds without its T-Top. I've seen and admired this boat on the water for 20 years and was thrilled to finally fish on it! John...Great video. As a marine surveyor/CG Marine inspector for over 40 years I was convinced the only aluminum boats that belonged in salt water were the ones that were trailered. The damage salt water does to aluminum that is allowed to sit in it was often devastating.
    You need to come to North Kakalacky where the limit for flounder is no fish of any size for the foreseeable future. Of course there are times when fishing for speckled trout/redfish I've seen people catch the elusive "North Atlantic Halibut" that often ends up in a cooler!

    Thanks for all the videos John. I was out this weekend off Ft. Salonga and there was a cinderworm spawn. They were everywhere. Any tips for fishing for fluke during this? Fished a good 8 hours with not much to show for it. Was I wasting my time. Bass all around me as well but I didn't bother throwing much at them as I never found success with those either during a hatch/spawn.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 19 dny +1

      I'd try the little lure I used in the part of this video when I had bass on top feeding on tiny bait. I've not fished it in a cinder worm hatch, but the profile would be pretty close. czcams.com/video/AYTga8nAp68/video.html

    Great videos! You should know that I am a Skinner student. I understand that you say to always drift in the direction of the current. You also say to drift about 0.5-1.5 mph for fluke. My question is since I can’t put any trolling motor on my boat, If the current is going strong in a direction at , say 2.5 mph and the wind pushes in the opposite direction, slowing my boat to a 1.0 mph drift in the same direction as the current, would I still catch fluke just the same as if there were no wind and the current was moving the boat at 1 mph?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 18 dny +1

      No. It would be terrible. Although your boat's drift speed would decrease a bit, your lines would scope way out with the current. It would be worse than having no wind.

    Great video as always.
    When you are launching/retrieving your aluminum boat on one of these beaches on your own, how do you secure it when you are parking your car or backing the trailer in? Pull it all the way up on the beach or push it out and secure the anchor?
