  • This garden railroad winds its way through a rock garden and gets some
    serious elevation. The railroad isn't complete (are they ever), we hope
    to add a return loop at the top of the pass this next spring along with
    some bridge and trestle improvements. Sidings and businesses will come
    later.

    I respect you so much. Lgb garden layouts were a massive part if my life as a kid visiting country garden shops. Covid is horrible. Glad you got to carry on before Covid. Lgb builders are real angels.

  • @3rdplanetimmigrant203

    my dad had HO layouts in Mexico City, Mexico and in Tehachapi CA. in 1967, Mexico, i surprised my dad with a "flying plane" for his layout. 2 each 4-inch rubber wheels with deep grooves for treads. 1 mounted at each end of the layout. i ran fishing line in the grooves between both wheels and hung a small model plane from it. i installed a small dc motor and had the motor shaft rub up against the wheel. plenty of torque and the wheel turned very slowly. my dad built an airport at one end and a cloud bank at the other end. my dad was happy and so was I.
    nice layout you have there and nice dog too.

    That's gotta be the premier "garden" railway of 2022. I was attracted to Lake Chelan when I was working at Rocky Reach Dam, automating it's load/feq control in the 1960's. I always wanted to take the mail boat up the Lake, but never got the chance. You are envied and loved.

    A truly marvelous, complex, expensive, and totally realistic creation. Thank you for your efforts, and thank you for sharing. When you get finished building it (at least for the moment), because the RR is too small for any human to climb aboard, please give some consideration to (somehow) creating a video of the entire trip that will allow the viewer to switch views (external spot, cab, top-down, etc.) while the trip is in progress. Flight simulator (FSX) has this capability. Do this for your railroad and I guarantee you the word will get out and you will have a million viewers (you've already got 73K) overnight! Heck! It's fantastic just the way it is! I'm gonna bookmark this video so I can 'have a moment of fun' whenever I want to. Good luck and thanks again.

    Where is this railroad located? I am curious because you have the makings of a really incredible layout there at your place. If you do it right, it could be a great little mountain railroad similar to ones in Colorado. You would just have to bring the gradient down a bit so it's not so steep. But with the correct engineering, that could be accomplished without too much trouble. So for me, it's rather exciting to see what you have and what it could be if done right. Hopefully you have done some more work since you posted this video back in the summer of 2014 (almost 2 years ago) If you need any free assistance, please let me know. I would be happy to accommodate you guys in your quest to perfect the Chelan Short Line. Dennis Sirrine Palo Verde & Southwestern RailRoad Mesa, Arizona

      @shayengineer10 Před 6 lety +7

      Nothing wrong with the grades. It's a mining/logging railroad. Have you ever been on the old Uintah railroad grade??? Now THAT was a miracle railroad with 7+% grades and hairpin curves. Great Northerns old mainline through Stevens pass, used switchbacks while the original tunnel was being built. I've driven my car on it and it is scary at times with the grades that were used.....4 to 5 cars maximum and 2 locos minimum were required back then, even with mallets! Here in Idaho, Potlatch Timber Co. had spurs exceeding 7% (some were as much as 12%). Besides...it's HIS railroad, HIS rules!

    • @steffenrosmus9177
      @steffenrosmus9177 Před 2 lety +1

      Sounds a bit arrogant to me , it is an logging RR were steep grades and sharp curves were common. Why do you think he has the Shay for.
