Berat is really unique. Castle and its walls were burned down by Romans around 200 BC. You can actually see different wall compositions there, all belonging to different times in its more than 2000 years of history.

I remember going to this castle as a child, it’s huge. I loved that city, I went from the north of Albania for a youth pingpong competition.

You guys have such a positive vibe! Berat is great for rafting as well, but that for another time:) I really suggest you head for Korca to try a great variety of food and Saranda for a beautiful combination of sea, culture and nightlife. Enjoy and keep up with your great videos!

I arrived in Berat yesterday so I’ll follow your recommendations today and tomorrow.
Interestingly, I started travelling again after Covid last year and every time (almost) I pick somewhere to go I’ll have a quick look on CZcams to check the place out and you two invariably pop up!

I was just there 2 days ago! Berat is a great little town. The castle was very nice too but sad by how much trash around/in the castle. Also, it seems like Albanian breakfasts are all the same; I had the same breakfast as you for an entire week at all of my hotel stays.
The food is always healthy ..Berat is beautiful..I would recommend the Mangalemi hotel.❤️😘

The most beautifully preserved of Turkish architecture in Albania. Magnificient.
It's not Turkish architecture it's Ottoman architecture that was in itself heavily influenced by Byzantine architecture. It's also the most perfectly preserved Ottoman architecture anywhere. I've looked at other Ottoman architecture towns in the Balkans and in Anatolia, Berat is more authentic looking than any of them.

What time of year was it when you were there? We are headed there is September and are just curious about the weather.
The weather in Albania is top notch and sunny from April to October. September is the best when it comes to going for a swim especially since it's not scorching hot and full of people

Albania has some of the best preserved ottoman architecture.
Berat is grounded since 2000 years. Ottomans came in Balkan peninsula in 14 century. So Berat is not Ottoman. Btw, there is no occupying power that come to your country to build you houses, we all know that

Do you know that the todays Serbian capital city, Beligrad (The white city) ist build because of Berat? Because Berat city is so White (white colour) the serbs named their capital city "The white city" in serbian "Beligrad" -> Beli= White + Grad=City
How would you compare Berat to Gjirokaster? Sorting out my itinerary for Albania for next year and I'm wondering which is worth spending more time in.
We didn’t stay in Gjirokaster but personally preferred Berat so much more!
