Madvillain "All Caps" Boss SP-303 remake

- when I did All Caps before I was pretty new to the SP-303 and did a lot of things incorrectly/differently than Madlib originally did. now that I know my way around it much better I figured I'd redo it for you guys so it's much more accurate (although I did actually miss a couple of bars in the song. whoops...)
RIP the supervillain
I gotta give credit to SP-303 users, especially Madlib. This is crazy, since you have to do this all on time and live, just like a real instrument, whereas a computer can just adjust the actual samples.
You can also chop samples on a pc

It's really impressive how Madlib heard a background soundtrack in a random scene from an episode of The Streets of San Francisco and thought: "Huh, that would make a sick beat" and simply created probably one of the best Hip-Hop intros.
This may sound dumb as I have little knowledge on music theory, but having those chopped up with different BPMs and still having them all in time is CRAZY to me! Huge respect to the recreate and to MF & Madlib!
at the very least the main sample is time stretched, its super unlikely that it would fit the drum loop otherwise. the shorter chops might just coincidentally be in time because the sample isnt being played long enough for it to slide out of time
It’s about pitching either sample or both.
They're really kinda on the back of the beat
The BPM is a guess provided by the machine. It's rarely in line with the actual chops.

the madvilliany album is one of the best hip hop albums of all time,I first heard this shit when I was like fucking 3 and my dad was bumping it in the car and this one day he was playing it when I was like 8 or 9 and I knew all the words,mf doom and madlib are true legends.

the machine did some heavy carrying here tbh, just the way it sounds compared to a FL remake is completely different, it adss so much texture even if the FL remake had all the sections perfectly lined up
My first Madlib and first MF DOOM song. A friend showed me this after I showed him Death Grips (he didn't like it hahaha and showed me this as an example of complex and experimental beats that to him "sound good"). Love Madvillainy, love MF DOOM, love Madlib is all I'm gonna say

Just the sampled beat is a work of art in itself although the whole of All Caps is a work of art not forgetting Mad Villain is aswell.

@Nothing But Flava I think he loops everything, and presses the current pad and the pad he's triggering at the same time. I do this on the SX quite often

Yoo what effect did you put on that sample?
all effects are done on the unit itself; every sample has Vinyl Sim compression at full and every sample except the drums is pitched down slightly. the main sample is sped up using the 303's tempo adjust and the sample at the very end is slowed down very slightly.
