She screwed up at 4:02 but TOTALLY owned it at 4:44. The best cover of this song I've ever heard. And yes, Ray Donovan brought me here. Excellent song- excellent cover !
She is so unassuming, but that voice is magic. I feel like her cover is flawless. She's like the girl next door. ...you would never know she had that powerful voice, but when she opens her mouth she's 🔥🔥🔥 No autotune needed...she's legit 🎵🎸🪕🎹
This is the reason CZcams is awesome: Finding shit like this! Pure badass cover of an awesome song to begin with! Never heard of her before but...G-damn! Amazing!
One of the most difficult Elton songs to pull off in my opinion, and perhaps his most under-appreciated. Heard it while the credits were rolling and thought to myself "oh wow, no way, someone pulled off a cover of this song and it sounded THAT good?" Had to pay my compliments. Glad to see that the Ray Donovan credits have driven interest to your page. It was well-earned. Great work! Hats off to you and to whoever else was working with you musically on the track.
Finally started to watch the past season of Ray Donovan backed up on my PVR. What can I say; I don't like to play the TV-network game of watching shows only when they allow me to. This is why Netflix is gaining IMO. In any event, have always liked Ray Donovan's choice of music - more often than not, anyway. And I have to say this track, which backs the final scene of the season-premiere episode "Abby" and the end titles, is absolutely exquisite. Always thought this one of Elton John's finer songs - and so early in his career, too - but what Alison Scott has done with it here is incredible. So unlike the original, and yet so very like it, too. Kudos to the creative artist in Scott that saw it this way, and kudos to the musical supervisor on Ray Donovan who chose it as the backing track. This is really, really good, and I'm astounded that I haven't seen Alison Scott performing live on SNL or something.
Been an AS fan since hearing her cover of "Can't Find My Way Home" on "Hiding Under the Covers." Was just re-watching this video other day. Makes me long for a live AS album. This time through I realized why the song just fades away at the end: she's wrung every single bit of life, heart, passion, blood, and madness possible out of the tune, so there's nothing left to keep it going on. As great as the song is, it bows before her overwhelming voice. My favorite AS song, along with "Why."
Alison how could I have missed you? Like many others I hope, discovered you during Donovan season premiere. Holy S..t your awesome. Please come to Phoenix. A little warmer than Minneapolis. ❤💞❣
I like Allison's cover more than Sir Elton on the original. Love, love love this take right down to the instrumentation, and Allison's incredible voice just reached out to me when watching the fabulous new episode of RD. What a beautiful world. Thank you, Allison.
Alison, I was just introduced to your music on TPT 2 Twin Cities, and had to investigate further. That's how I landed here. Madman is one of my top Elton songs. You and your band absolutely kill on this song. Love Love Love!! Sending good vibes for success to you. Hope to see you around town before you break out, and it will happen.
This is just stunning, a brilliant cover of this amazing song and like others have said, all from Ray Donovan ( and of course Mr Elton John)...well done Alison Scott and her band.
I just posted this performance to Facebook mentioning it was just used on Ray Donovan. Alison does a great cover of this song. I just downloaded it on iTunes!
Just heard your version of Madman Across the Water on Ray Donovan for the first time. WOW where have I been? I'm a huge Elton John fan and love this song. I'm also a fellow musician on the East Coast and was blown away with your soulful vocals. I love the Fender Rhodes in this. Just purchased your version on iTunes and will be following your music. Well done!
Agree, this rendition is great. It's a super hard song to do justice to and my favorite Elton John tune. I'm actually a singer /guitarist myself and I have aways wanted to perform this tune. Every couple of years I pull it out and try it - the guitar part is best in the original key but I can't do vocal justice to it there at all. I try changing the key, changing the melody (could it be done in some kind of artistic and non-destructive way?) Alas, I haven't been able to make it into anything. Kudos to you - and I will check out some of your other stuff online if I can find it!
Didn't know if I would care for someone else covering this after Bruce Hornsby's faithful--almost TOO faithful--rendition. However, this artist surprised me. She didn't oversing it nor did she sing beyond her range and ability when unnecessary. Kudos
That is So Great! I just pre-ordered the New CD...I wish I could Make the Release show at the Varsity. But, I will see You at Rochester's ":Thursdays on First" so that I can hear the New Songs and get My CD signed again by you...Hopefully! Awesome~
kisslena ...and why is Bridgette with that cancer kid Smitty., What happened to Ray Donovan, used to be a great show with great music, now they kill off Abby😩😩😩🙀🙀
Brilliant! many years ago I knew a singer... never made it big... named Felice Jargow.... great keyboard player and a killer voice with grit and power... you remind me a lot of her... brilliant! Thanks!!!
After watching Ray Donovan.....Amazing voice! Great cover !
She screwed up at 4:02 but TOTALLY owned it at 4:44. The best cover of this song I've ever heard. And yes, Ray Donovan brought me here. Excellent song- excellent cover !
what a woman, thank you for your love of this song!!!
Its about the most beautiful and powerful song Elton John ever wrote. She does it justice.
David Kopel Written by Bernie Taupin I believe.
music by elton. lyrics by bernie. Perfect together
I love this song. Have not heard it in 30 years but recognized it right away.
She is so unassuming, but that voice is magic. I feel like her cover is flawless. She's like the girl next door. ...you would never know she had that powerful voice, but when she opens her mouth she's 🔥🔥🔥 No autotune needed...she's legit 🎵🎸🪕🎹
Very very nice. What an awesome voice you have, Alison. I am amazed there are not more comments!
Wowww......Alison Scott has made a superb version of the original. She sang it with full emotion you rarely find in a singer.
This is the reason CZcams is awesome: Finding shit like this! Pure badass cover of an awesome song to begin with! Never heard of her before but...G-damn! Amazing!
Love this rendition of this song. Again, another artist brought to me by way of Ray Donavon!!

Amazing song and voice!

That's a huge compliment! Thank you!
Brilliant
Great pic behind
This was one of Elton's top five best vocals ever, I think, so you picked a tough act to follow, but did a good job.
