WHAT TO DO ? IN THUNDERSTORMS - Episode 8 2023

- Join me in Episode 8 as you catch me in the start of a Thunderstorm passing over our building site here in Brentford West London UK
I could spot this approaching storm on the horizon about 5miles out in front of me, so I did my last lift and pulled up for around 15min while the storm passed, hitting us with lightning, hail stones and high winds along the way
These things happen and sometimes these storms come out of nowhere so you have to be prepared at all times, monitoring the weather is a huge part of my job !!

it takes a special breed to do that job... I am not scared of heights yet i still get a bit queasy when you show looking down over the edge of your cabin. that's a long long drop

I feel certain if Id seen that storm coming I'd have used the parachute I wouldn't have come to work without lol.

I think I've literally just driven passed this site today on my way to Kew gardens! Recognised the colour of the cranes and then spotted those three white ones opposite!

Would not do for me to be a crane operator like yourself, not my kind of height. Height itself does not bother me as I flew small aircraft in the past. However, climbing that ladder with no safety is not for me.

Yes they are earthed into the ground
If it got really bad or long duration is it safer for you to stay in the cab or climb down
Safer to stay unless it’s like 60mph+ then I will come down
What wind speed do you have to stop work and evacuate the crane Andy ? I have just had my tea so I am off to “drop my load” 😂
38mph it’s the cranes working maximum however it depends on the the height and the things we lift, wouldn’t lift a huge shutter in high winds

No as you can see in this video I wasn’t doing a lift plus if it’s really windy we don’t have to climb up as you will see in the next video
