Im from Namibia, which i think has quite an interesting system of friendships.
South Africa: we got independence from them just a generation ago, theyre our besties and we cooperate on vaious factors such as citizenship rights, language, tertiary education, etc, as well as in alliances such as
SADC: the international community we most see ourselves as part of, bunch of Southern African countries
SACU: the countries most culturally and historically aligned with Namibia, hence more close cooperation in what is the worlds oldest running customs union
Germany: we share a close historical and cultural tie with Germany. Interesting love-hate relationship, but its mostly positive with intense development aid and cultural/education exchange between the two
Finland: similar to germany, the Finns had a well founded presence in Namibia during the colonial period, with a largely positive impact as finnish missionaries spread education onto the local people
China: this is a very controversial one. Statistics apparently say the chinese community in Namibia may now be larger than the German one. Most Namibians are largely anti-China, and this controversy is reflected in politics, as more anti-China parties see massive gains in elections
    an interesting one ive discovered:
St Helena: Namibia is basically one of the "supply points" for St Helena next to South Africa, with large investments into the air travel infrastructure from St Helena to Namibia and the rest of the world!

3:25 "since it´s signing the two have never waged war against each other"
*in 1890 the UK basically brokes the alliance by making an ultimate against Portugal because of the "pink map" that was suppose to connect Angola and Mozambique, the Portuguese King quit the country plan to make UK happy and this led to the beggining of the downfall of worldwide respect for Portugal, the creation of a new national anthem that originally meant "against the brits fight", the regicide years later (as well as his son) and the fall of monarchy in Portugal*
such a good alliance am i right

it's crazy because so many places have so many alliances that they cant even realistically break one. You break an alliance and you basically break them all via a domino effect. Most of the world is effectively grid locked into some sort of peace. Which explains why it seems most of the global military conflicts(as far as i've seen) are all happening in pretty much the same regions as always. We shall stay gridlocked forever or till something external forces a major region to drastically change their alliances potentially opening up ways for conflict to increase. Mutually assured defense- Mutually assured destruction if anyone goes savage.

As an American, the idea of thinking negatively about someone just because they’re are proud of their country is really confusing. It’s normal for people in my country to be patriotic. Nearly everyone on my street has an American flag hanging off their front porch.

Quad is an informal grouping of India, the Japan-US alliance and the Australia-US alliance in order to coordinate against China. That is how it will stay. Give up if you think India will ever form an alliance with any of these countries.
