Hey Doc how are you all doing. I just wanted to tell you I love watching you fix, restore just give these old knives a second chance. I was thinking about my Great Uncle he was in his 80's in the early 70's he is the one that took the time to teach a little boy to sharpen on a old whetrock. He would put his own edge on a bra and new knife because back then you hardly ever got a sharp knife from the factory he would say I'm gonna lay this one back and he would and he preferred a buck stockman. Old Timer knives are sentimental for me Doc. My Great Grandfather always carried the stockman. He actually died with one in his hand. He was cleaning under his finger nails. Then all the sudden he had a massive heart attack. 😢 I was there that day and have that knife.❤

I’ve used boiled linseed oil on the blades with a wooden handle with good results. It cleans all the black stuff off and brings the wood grain back out.
you need to clamp the bolster and put the knife blade into a vice coach the blade back with a little bit of pressure do it slowly it will work
My daddy carried an Old Timer. It was in his pocket or beside him till the day he died.

That john primble belknap hardware old timers are getting scarce I have a few of them ,and they are starting to get expensive, but you fixed that old baby ! Good job kevin

I found an old 2 Dot Buck 110 (made between 1974-1980) from what I found online mine is about 1978. Anyway I found it at thrift store. I paid $40 but I had to have it. It still had the original leather sheath(well carried). But the knife cleaned up and polished up good.

Man, I can't stop watching these videos. I use water and aluminum foil to scrape the tarnish on the blades. Usually works really well.

Most likely that Hawkbill is an FA Bower.... I have never seen a Boker tang stamp inside an oval like that... However I have a Bower Solingen barlow pattern knife that is stamped like that. Semper Fi brother.

Sweet finds. I have one of those little three bladed keychain knife/tool knives like you just picked up. Mine was made in Korea. I also have two of those keychain razor knives like the one you picked up. One is USA made and the other is China made

Yes, I feel the same way . Like I'm saving them I just can't let an old knife lay there in it's dirt and rust. I at least take it home clean it up the best I can and put it in the old tackle box. But yes I agree it does look like it says camillus. Probably a very very old camillus. Cheers.😊

I think War Amps used to give out those little key chains, my parents each had one, with the nail file. I’m pretty sure it was the War Amps that sent them.

I think the camp knife without a shield or markings on the blade was made for the craftsman line at Sears. I’ve been keeping my eye on those on eBay the old ones have jigging on the bone like that.

I have a old Queen #29 with no tang stamps on it. You can barely see Queen Steel # 29 on the blade but there's no tang stamps on either blade. Has anyone ever seen that before?
Hey Doc why didn't you try to straighten the main blade. Just need a little pressure and should do the trick.
I did tighten it. It was really loose. Had a lot of wobble to it. The pin is under the bolster. The only way to get to it would be to take the spring pin out and slide the handles off the two inner blade pins.
I've seen where people have taken old axe heads and msde custom axes/hatchets
Wonder if the Old Timer main blade was replaced? Looks like the pivot pin has been worked on. Might explain why there's not much info on that combination.

When I was a kid, I knew quite a few older fellers that sharpened their knives daily and just sharpened the heck out of them. Theyd wait till the blade was almost invisible before they went and bought a new one. Back in the day, Even before me and you were born, Im assuming they just couldnt afford new knives...They sure didnt collect them like we do today. They used them all day long and just wore them smooth out. How may Old Timers you seen with broken tips? lol They put em to work. Thats why I love these old knives. They have untold stories. Makes me daydream about some hard working men who would drop it in the pocket without a care and cut rope, radiator hoses, wires, scfraping down stuff, Using them as screwdrivers...all kinda stuff. Love an old pocket knife, There is a lore and just a facination with them. Everyone carried them , even school kids.

Overall, I think you made a good haul. But that knife for $1.00 with severely degraded blades is not worth the parts or the effort in restoring. I think you need to hone your wants and needs using that knife as an example. Avoid junk collecting and improve your holdings.
I like the knife I paid 1.00 for. Especially the hawk bill from Germany. The Camillus I paid $1 for the springs look good. I’ve bought a few knives before and I’ve taken many knives apart. I know what to look for. I appreciate your suggestion though. Thanks for watching!!
