Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and Sly Cooper Thieves in Time and Mass Effect 3 and Killzone 2 and The Last of Us Part 2 still love despite its controversy on the PS3 or on the PS4
You mentioned how people said that women didn't fight in World War II and then corrected them. In fact, women fought on both sides of the Civil War. The famous pirate, Mary Read fought for the British Army. Days Gone was and still is, a pretty good game. I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077, right now.
The argument isn't that women weren't in that world war, the issue is that many people don't think they did enough to land them the position of a number 1 protagonist in a world war game. If millions of men lost their lives in world war, how many women actually died as soldiers on the battle field? Must be a small number, so people think the protagonist spot wasn't deserved but forced in order to achieve diversity. It's that simple.
@@christopherquinn1018 In comparison to men, what percentage of the job do you think they did? Let's start here, what percentage of women died as soldiers during the world war in comparison to men?
From Chatgpt, 405,399 US male soldiers died during world war 2, while 543 female soldiers died during world war 2, none or almost none of them were frontline soldiers. Even someone with a dead brain wouldn't say these two stats are similar or comparable, thats why the choice of a female soldier definitely has to be due to DEI stuff which many people think it's insulting to the numerous men who lost their lives during the war and they consider it some kind of woke Nonsense.
@@christopherquinn1018 Doing alot isn't the same as doing enough to land the number 1 protagonist spot. When over 400, 000 men died in the war compared to less than 500 women.
06:25.. The controversy wasn't that "women didn't fight in WW2" They in fact did.. Mostly as freedom fighters and in some divisions of several armies... The controversy and comments were that DICE and EA outright changed actual historical facts by forcing women in real life historical missions (most notably the "Nordlys mission" where they used an extremely high risk mission done by a small team of soldiers and changed it to feature 1 single young woman a resistance fighter. This was extremely disrespectful towards the men that died during that mission in real life. They could easily just make up a story and made a mission from that. But they used an historical mission and completely ignored the heroism and sacrifice those men made to force inclusiveness. People considered this as an act of stolen valor. THAT was the reason for the controversy! And the fact that EA outright banned everyone even mentioning this only fueled it.
Battlefiled V complaints are valid there were no women actively in the field of combat I just asked a incredibly relaible source however they were medics and worked on vehicles etc so they did serve just not how it was represented in battlefield 5

Days Gone was fantastic once the bugs were ironed out. I preordered it which I almost never do and played it day one. It glitched on me so bad a good handful of times that I had to stop playing it. Came back a few months later and really enjoyed the hell out of it with no glitches experienced. Really hope a sequel gets made someday.
Just Shoot Me! (1997-2003) Not a Video Game But It was great unfortunately this was around the same time a former relative popped up In my life and ruined everything still loved the show though
I think Sonic Unleashed should be on the list. It was more of a divisive game because of those werehog levels that really bloat the game length. If I want to play a GoW game, I'll play GoW instead. These levels could've been replaced with Knuckles brawler levels easily. Also Resident Evil 5 could be a potential entry. It's Africa setting caused racism controversy iirc and also it started the identity loss of the franchise, at least until Revelations 2 and 7 revived the franchise.
Seems to me that when it's not about microtransactions or serious, game-breaking bugs, most of these controversies only get blown up the way they do because of social media. I remember when Quake II came out one of the developers got mad because some mod makers were recreating old Quake 1 maps and mods rather than enjoying Q2 for what it was. However if I hadn't downloaded one of said maps and read the readme I wouldn't even have known about it, whereas if Q2 had been released now, it would have been a massive overblown controversy...
@@reviewer945 Take this with a grain of salt since I'm not 100% on this, but the 2010s were a bad time for Sonic in terms of American audience's distaste for the blue blue on the Internet to the point that Sega of America managed convinced Sonic Team that Vocal Tracks weren't liked enough to justify their continued addition to the games. Hence why Lost World didn't have any, although Forces brought that back. Because of the hate, Boom was an attempt to capture the American audience, given how completely culturally different everything was in comparison to the mainline games. Only the show and Fire and Ice were well received, though. TLDR: As of the patches being installed, Rise of Lyric makes the game no longer as bad or worse than 06, but coming out during the 2010s as a buggy and boring mess sealed its fate.
Not necessarily a game, but a platform: Stadia I actually played that a lot during the pandemic and always had a solid experience with no latency or glitches. But of course, purist Content Creator gamers didn't like the idea of a streaming service being good and made negative review after negative review. Some even straight up lied about it, by claiming you needed to own a game as well as a subscription just to play it. Which wasn't true, the premium service was to play the game in 4K, if you didn't have it; you could still play in 1080p.
Days Gone has a cult status now as the game that is great but was crapped on early to stunt its growth… but it grew and grew! Its in my top 10 open world games
I have to agree with Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, as adding microtransactions to a game that people had to buy in a store or online (which means they paid money for a copy) is a scummy move by Activision done out of greed. Heck, even Disney Dreamlight Valley is guilty of this, as that game got rid of the free-to-play feature that was promised, but kept in the microtransactions.
Okay so I think there needs to be a little more context when it comes to Cyberpunk. The game itself for the most part didn't work, it crashed hardware, and genuinely was unplayable quite often. And after 8 years in development and a 70 dollar price that's why there was so much backlash and it caused CDPR to remove it from storefronts and almost lead to a lawsuit because they may have known the game wasn't ready to be shipped. That is very different from a game just not being what a few people thought the game should be in their heads. I'd also have to argue I think a lot of people still think Witcher 3 is CDPRs best game.
This is just my opinion but I think the Batman Arkham series in general were downgraded a lot due to controversy, especially when that Suicide Squad game came out. Just my opinion though.
The only reason why I couldn’t get celebrate was because of the controversy and because I didn’t have any money to get it and because I didn’t want to Called a Pervert
Not a game, but the Dreamcast. A truly great system that got marred by Sega's previous decade of disappointments. It never could overcome public perception of its maker.

I know it's a DLC but why didn't you guys add Shadow of the Erdtree? when the DLC launched From Software made it so people with crazy builds and high level characters wouldn't plow down the DLC so quickly like they did in the main game by making bosses and enemies has high resistance HP and damage negation or straight immunity to some ailments but critics and twitter stan's started going too town with complaints saying it's "Too Hard" or "The difficulty is so imbalanced" which hurt it for a bit until CZcamsr's and other souls game enjoyer's stepped in and reminded people what souls games stand for
Stellar Blade's controversy didn't end once the game launched. Or have you missed the "Hard R" nonsense some journalists used to call the game racist? Reports of crunch culture was happening at Naughty Dog with The Last of Us Part 2 as well, btw. Controversy with that game is interesting because it wasn't just about dividing fans. We're talking about tons of internal leaks before the game even came out. Anyway, I'd include Resident Evil 5 Assassin's Creed Unity Maybe Fallout 76? And the original great game overshadowed by controversy: Mortal Kombat
what’s sad it is last of us part two would be a good story if you just broke it in two have the last of us part to be all about Abby ending with her, finding her dead father, in swearing to kill the person who killed her father. And then three would be following both Ellie and Abby seeking revenge and losing their friends along the way with them both realizing at the end of the story that revenge wasn’t worth it or at least that’s how I would fix it.
In regards to Battlefield V woman were NOT fighting on the Frontline as portrayed in the game. U can't call it historically accurate if whats in the game is not accuratte
Try saying that to the French Resistance or Russian frontlines, they were some of the best snipers and even Air Force pilots. And yes they were on the frontlines, at least in the sense as medics and nurses, plenty of women were killed across the war, both as civilians and in support roles.
Trigger warning: this comment does mention mental health and SH. I'd like to point out Doki Doki Literature Club as an example of a good game overshadowed by controversy. While it's not the greatest, DDLC still has great characters, a fantastic story, great scares and excellent and realistic portrayals of heavy subjects like mental health, abuse, SH and existentialism (noting before the next part that Team Salvato placed a content warning about these subjects at the very beginning of the game). Unfortunately, DDLC's legacy was impacted by a rather tragic incident where a teenager un-alived himself and the game was reportedly found on his computer, which led to the media blaming the game and Team Salvato for his passing (even though iirc there was a lot more going on in the kid's life that led to it). It's sadly just another example of a tragedy happening and the blame being put on video games.
Yo dude, that wasn't content creators, that was fake journalists who have never seen a real woman before. Just because you don't agree with harassing someone doesn't mean you shouldn't call them out for their stupidity.
12:52 And this is exactly why Mass Effect 3 is one of the most overrated games of all time! The ending isn't even close to the only thing that's wrong with it! A lousy script, bad dialogue, the worst villains of the series, bad new characters, lots of auto dialogue, and choices that were either abandoned or didn't even matter, ended up just about sinking the ship--not just its final moments!
Star Fox Zero could’ve been so much better than it is, if Nintendo actually gave Platinum more time and didn’t force them to design the game around a shoehorned gimmick
If you resort to google search to prove your point, then I'm afraid you're already a lost cause. How about we enjoy games like we used to do, instead of insulting others based on the actions of a few?
Here’s a theory on Battlefield 5. World War 2’s roster of warriors was not completely encompassed by just the male gender. But, the few exceptions of females that did happen 2 serve in that war does not make the rule. Oh, by da by, this includes that 1 female Russian sniper, who this one sniper from Finland and late modern sniper from my home of Texas, Chris Kyle both outclass. U c, back in those times women’s liberation hadn’t even set in, yet :)
The Last of Us is a trash series. Period. Now, Cyberpunk 2077 just needed a few patches 2 repel some pesky bug problems. Otherwise, Cyberpunk 2077 is a genuinely good RPG.
Yes, Arkham knight was the end of Bruce Wayne's story! He did not come back and join the Justice league and get shot to death on a park bench.😡 Also,Eve's only controversy is that she is hot,and some jealous people didi't like that!😎
Tekken 8 is terrible for not only the battlepass, but also for carrying the issues from 7. Unbalanced roster, absolute laziness in dubbing, and little to no offline content, which is a spit in the face to people who either have a spotty Internet connection, or just don’t want to play online.

I lived Days Gone. Wish they’d do a part 2. The way it ended. Critics ruined it.
Good Tekken announcer voice.
Its not my best, but I appreciate the compliment!
Bayonetta 3 and its actress pay dispute.
Man really trying to sugar coat Cyberpunk flaws with "now everybody's on the same page"...yeah...it only took 2 years to fix it🙄
I was shocked to see my boy Sly Cooper on this list
When I saw that Stellar Blade was on this list, I immediately said “oh people are complaining that Eve is too sexy” and now people are just in aww of how amazing the game is
Um… was Pokémon Scarlet/Violet not wrecked with controversy and harsh criticism, or do you only focus on PC, Xbox and PlayStation games?
Days gone should be less grinding and good dialogue writings strong story....developers take that word survival is the major flop for that
we should also talk about Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite
@@Noob-zi2ce They did a lot.
06:25..
The controversy wasn't that "women didn't fight in WW2"
They in fact did..
EXACTLY!
Battlefiled V complaints are valid there were no women actively in the field of combat I just asked a incredibly relaible source however they were medics and worked on vehicles etc so they did serve just not how it was represented in battlefield 5

How'd you miss the biggest controversy of the last decade ?
Days Gone was fantastic once the bugs were ironed out. I preordered it which I almost never do and played it day one. It glitched on me so bad a good handful of times that I had to stop playing it. Came back a few months later and really enjoyed the hell out of it with no glitches experienced. Really hope a sequel gets made someday.
I was mixed on Stellar Blade
i love the DOA franchise. what i didnt loves about DOA 5 and 6 was the fact that every DLC pac were nothing but a bunch of costumes that i didnt want
Never heard of that Infinite Wealth game. Heard of Kong and all those other awful games. Weird how that works.
Just Shoot Me! (1997-2003) Not a Video Game But It was great unfortunately this was around the same time a former relative popped up In my life and ruined everything still loved the show though
The team that pushed out Zaimont wasn't all too clean either, and records exist of them conspiring to push him out
I think Sonic Unleashed should be on the list.
Look at me
Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts deserved the hate
The only game I wasn't aware of having controversy to the way I thought was: Batman: Arkham Knight; every other game on this list, I'm not a fan of.
The Sonic Boom games but especially Rise of Lyric should be on this list.
Its controvesial yes, but its not great. Hell its not even mediocre.
@@PhenomsServant4 Why? I think the Knuckles glitch was patched and I can't find anything else that makes the game deserve so much hate.
@@reviewer945
Take this with a grain of salt since I'm not 100% on this, but the 2010s were a bad time for Sonic in terms of American audience's distaste for the blue blue on the Internet to the point that Sega of America managed convinced Sonic Team that Vocal Tracks weren't liked enough to justify their continued addition to the games.
@@magical_pixie_horse7346 That makes sense and that's why it's perfect for this list.
@@reviewer945
As a great game overshadowed by controversy?
Battlefront 2 100% deserves a spot on this list
+ the Star Wars battlefront 2 game
Not necessarily a game, but a platform: Stadia
I actually played that a lot during the pandemic and always had a solid experience with no latency or glitches.
I loved the majority of last of us part 2
I'm surprised that you did not bring up no man's sky
Really enjoyed Days Gone, it was a pleasant surprise and almost like a compliment to The Last of Us. Plus great cast.
Days Gone has a cult status now as the game that is great but was crapped on early to stunt its growth… but it grew and grew!
Its in my top 10 open world games
I'm still jealous about IGN giving Stellar Blade a 7/10. For me, it's a 9/10
I absolutely love Days Gone it got unnecessary hate
0:10 - Wait...did or did not controversy steals franchises spotlight by replacing them?! 😨
Boyfriend dungeon, I mean that just sounds like excellent realism
And here I thought
Street Fighter x Tekkens biggest controversy was that they didn’t release Tekken x Street Fighter🥺
I love cyberpunk 2077
In basic terms, many fans chose to hate The Last of Us 2 and not acknowledge its stellar atmosphere because of Joel's death
All we want is Sly 5, that too much to ask?!
Agreed fellow sly fan
If it wasn’t plans for a Sly 5 then why was the developers decided to end on a cliffhanger ending?
Sly needs to be saved from that cliffhanger ending.
@@mattiasolsson1523 Because Sanzaru Games was an independent third party studio that only gained jobs from being contracted as such what better way to keep being paid by extending their work into a potential sequel after purposefully cutting the ending into dlc by the studio director
@@mattiasolsson1523 Same reason Half-Life 2 ended on a cliffhanger; they were hoping to make a sequel but that never came to be.
Days Gone didn't deserve that when it launched, also we need a Remaster collection of Kill zone 2 and 3 and maybe a Remake of the First one
Do you think Sonic Unleashed would be a good fit for this list?
Hmmmm...15:34 The controversy for this game was MORE THAN DESERVED. This game LITERALLY DESTROYED the franchise.
Critic towards stellarblade never went silent and now they have "uncercored" original outfits in the game 🤷
I know it's a DLC but why didn't you guys add Shadow of the Erdtree? when the DLC launched From Software made it so people with crazy builds and high level characters wouldn't plow down the DLC so quickly like they did in the main game by making bosses and enemies has high resistance HP and damage negation or straight immunity to some ailments but critics and twitter stan's started going too town with complaints saying it's "Too Hard" or "The difficulty is so imbalanced" which hurt it for a bit until CZcamsr's and other souls game enjoyer's stepped in and reminded people what souls games stand for
The only Why I can’t get blade well the only two reasons is because I don’t have enough money and because I don’t wanna be called A pervert
What's wrong with being a pervert?
By that logic everybody who ever played a Tomb Raider game is a pervert too.
Stellar Blade was boosted, not overshadowed.
Anyway, I'd include
Resident Evil 5
Assassin's Creed Unity
Maybe Fallout 76?
Eve's @$$ as click bait! Dang!
How is it clickbait?
Nah i clicked for Judy 😁
Some of this were deserved others not so much and some was just unnecessary
Yo dude, that wasn't content creators, that was fake journalists who have never seen a real woman before. Just because you don't agree with harassing someone doesn't mean you shouldn't call them out for their stupidity.
12:52 And this is exactly why Mass Effect 3 is one of the most overrated games of all time! The ending isn't even close to the only thing that's wrong with it! A lousy script, bad dialogue, the worst villains of the series, bad new characters, lots of auto dialogue, and choices that were either abandoned or didn't even matter, ended up just about sinking the ship--not just its final moments!
Starfox Zero, Skyward Sword, and Battlefield 2042
Star Fox Zero could’ve been so much better than it is, if Nintendo actually gave Platinum more time and didn’t force them to design the game around a shoehorned gimmick
Cyberpunk 2077 on the list
5:47 That's what I came for
If you resort to google search to prove your point, then I'm afraid you're already a lost cause.
How about we enjoy games like we used to do, instead of insulting others based on the actions of a few?
Informative
3:25 All because of Bobby Nodick, thankfully EX Ceo of Activision.
Oh, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 looks good, as well ;)
Yes, Arkham knight was the end of Bruce Wayne's story!
He did not come back and join the Justice league and get shot to death on a park bench.😡
Also,Eve's only controversy is that she is hot,and some jealous people didi't like that!😎
Tekken 8 is terrible for not only the battlepass, but also for carrying the issues from 7. Unbalanced roster, absolute laziness in dubbing, and little to no offline content, which is a spit in the face to people who either have a spotty Internet connection, or just don’t want to play online.
Last of us part 2 is controversial because of its structure and themes that is all...
Really
The narrator is a dork.
