I'm vegan and your channel is my absolute favourite, I completely respect that not everyone in the world is going to be vegan (which makes me a lil sad) but I really love that you are open to trying plant based options, not only in this video, but I know you often suggest vegan alternatives, love love love your vids, thanks for some more plant based inspo!!! xxx
Omg same she is my fav! I eat vegan at least one day a week, and I’ve done lots of vegan for a day challenges, I honestly love it! Have u got any top advice? x
Same, same💖
Samr
Same, also vegan and I don’t expect everyone to be vegan
Same here!!
hey sissttaaass!! I just realised there were two snack clips I forgot to include in the video (classic) haha. In between lunch and dinner I also had a packet of those salted crispy chickpeas and a green apple! Also, can confirm: that HUGE grocery haul lasted us weeks haha (thank goodness)
Please do more plant based videos! I’m obsessed
Hi Sarah, my midwife told me that Chia seeds hinder milk production when breast feeding. Have you noticed a difference at all?
Loved this!!
swozzie 99 😳Woow, I did not know that.
swozzie 99 not at all!! I’m an absolute milk machine. I have soooo much milk
You could do a “zero waste” challenge or something like that. It would be fun to watch!
candela cabada nah
Yes!!! I cringe so hard when she opens her cupboard and fridge 😳
Thats a cool idea!!
YESS!!!!
Honestly I think having 1 to 2 days a week vegan has a huge impact.
Agreed! If everyone just compromised to reducing meat intake it would make a huge impact. I love people trying more and more vegan receipts and giving it a shot
That grocery total made me WEAK. Would love to see you do a budget challenge next.
That's a cool idea
Yes! Please do a budget challenge!
Ohhhh ! Great idea !!!!
What a cool idea!
My heart got a tiny shock. hehehe And we thought Switzerland is expensive! :p
I’m vegan and it really warms my heart to see people are at least open to eating more plant based foods. Any contribution you make is still a contribution💕
Yes, I am plant based and I am always happy to see people incorporate more plant base meals into their diet.
exactly
Kate Russell yas!! Trying is better than doing nothing:) 🖤
She used to be vegan
i would love to try! it just seems so difficult!
My husband and I are doing the exact same thing because of the same documentary !! Loved this ❤️
monique fischer same!
i want to try with my husband but it seems so hard!!!
Us too!!
SAME!!!
monique fischer same here! Loving it so far😻
Totally not judging about the plastic! But have you heard of the ‘Redcycle’ program that Coles and Woolies do? You can recycle all of those soft plastics and they make it into park benches 😍
Wow this is amazing! I had no idea this program existed!
Personally, I just bring loads of reusable bags with me when I go shopping. If I had a car, I'd just keep some in there. As long as you make sure you wash them regularly at a high temperature, they're great. They can usually carry more weight than a plastic bag. That way you can at least avoid having loads of extra plastic bags. Unfortunately that doesn't help with how the food is wrapped.
How cool is that!!!! Here, they don't even recycle those :(
I wish they had an American version of this!!
Lordy I’ve been a vegan for 4 years and have never had a shopping bill of over $150 for the week 💚 glad to see your trying it out for the week so many benefits for your health the animals and our beautiful world 🌎
yeah same here. What they spent really shocked me... Obviously went a little crazy and didn't do much research beforehand. Can't really think of another explanation... And this is coming from a vegan who does NOT shy away from investing in the healthiest foods for the sake of health!
I’ve done a few vegan for a day challenged and it’s actually not expensive at all! Fruit and veg is always cheap, rice is easy and so are beans and all that!
@@ParisHedger ikr? Not to mention lentil varieties, oats and nuts/seeds
Yep ours is nowhere near that. $470 for a week is insane. We’re in Australia as well.
Jesus thats still a lot. I never spend more than 10£ per week
The fact that sezzy can upload a video whilst Kurt is away and fox is a teething baby and is still able to upload consistently is pure goals!!! Love u sar 🐻 xxxxxx
What a great video Sarah!! This is so inspiring. That documentary is really eye opening. Even just have 1 meat-free day a week will help the environment so much.
Some of my money saving tips are:
Buying frozen fruit and thawing them out to snack on. Or use in recipes. Much, much cheaper than fresh!
Making your own hummus! You just need to buy tahini. And you can make it in your Vitamix! You can add any flavour you want, garlic, red pepper, lemon, dill etc. Super flexible that way.
You can also buy lentils, beans, legumes in big bulk bags. The only thing with this is you will have to soak them in water for a few hours before you can use them. And they have less sodium than canned stuff.
Also, don't let anyone give you crap for trying to make a positive change.
" We don't need a handful of people doing it perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly." 💕💕💕
“Refrain your hate” could really be a theme for social media.
Love this video and your content! I try to eat this way just because I’m intolerant to a lot of things but eating more veggies is never a bad idea. 🌽 🍅 🌶
This is awesome 🎉🎉
As a vegan, I applaud you for even the small differences you’re trying to implement!
Also can confirm I only spend like $50 on groceries at woolies a week 😂😂
Same here! Being vegan saved me so much money! I used to spend over $150 a week for one person when i was eating meat and now an $60 shop is sooo expensive
Mel Parkes omg that’s amazing, I could really see myself going vegan in the future, I love vegan meals and I have at least one day a week plant based! Have u got any advice x
@@ParisHedger nutritional yeast and look around on youtube for vegan comfort foods
Buying all organic can add to the cost but I think it's worth it but it can definitely be less expensive than that but she probably just decided to go all out and get the fun stuff, which is cool too but it can be cheap as well, just depends on how you shop I think.
Why kind of stuff do you frequently buy? I have no idea what to eat and I always find it’s really expensive!
I eat a vegan, mostly wholefoods diet and I spend no more than $40 a week on groceries! Plant based eating becomes second nature after a while! 🌱
same i fr spend like $20 hahah
Madison Elyse what do you buy that’s it’s 20$
@@fernandadominguez9470 i eat super simple meals and love eating the same things everyday, so i buy a loaf of bread and 2 avocados, then rice, beans, tofu, pasta, bananas and ill pick a veggie for the week, usually i go for mushrooms or zucchini and a little bag of spinach and salsa then some random snack hahah its always around $20
@@wa6184 i live in boulder, co. I shop at the kroger chain here and buy pretty much their brand of everything i can, if you're a member theres an extra discount on a lot of things :)
Azaria Bell vegan is the best
i eat a majority vegan diet and my grocery bill is nowhere near that expensive and my grocery bill was definitely more expensive before i went plant based. y'all just bought really expensive and unnecessary items. no hate, i love you guys but i thought i'd just say this for anyone considering eating more plant based
1000%
Yeah, I'm not vegan, but rlly enjoy hummus and simply buying a bottle of tahini and some cans of chickpeas will save sooo much money and plastic packaging. Def adds up to much more hummus
you also have to remember that the aus dollar is different than the us dollar. so that is also about 290 dollars
Not all vegans are crazy. We are mostly kind and friendly people doing our best 😊 xx
best comment ever. I'm not vegan but i love this comment!
lillisa94 vegans are the bes t
Haha that was my first thought! We just want a better world and being negative won't do that. X
I should really be asleep right now, but as I was setting my alarm to get up at 6am a CZcams notification popped up! Sarah, Kurt and lil Fox put me in such a good mood to go to sleep x 💕
I am dying at Fox’s party trick! I cannot handle his cuteness!
I'm so keen to try eating more plant based meals, this video is perfect.
No hate here! LOVED this video and the experiment. Even if not completely plant-based, MORE plant-based meals is a win! In terms of groceries, plant-based can get expensive if you buy a lot of prepackaged/processed foods. If you normally don’t eat beans/legumes then yes, you will get gassy. It’s a lot harder for our bodies to break them down. It’s like asking your body to bench press double the amount you usually do and expect to not get sore... you will but eventually you’ll adapt and the gas should go away. Just eat the beans in smaller amounts and slowly increment the amount until your body adjusts. Lastly, don’t blame the consumer for plastic. Blame the producers and companies who package the food. Getting food without packaging is hard and there’s only so much a consumer can do. Great video! I love how you keep it real because that’s life! 🌱🌎 *in terms of environmental sustainability, there is a scale in terms of environmental “damage” from meats/food. Like chicken has less of an environmental impact than beef. Eggs are less than chicken. Plants of course are at the bottom of the food chain. Do some research and you should be able to find it 👌🏻
"Refrain your hate" haha 😂 giggle too long when you said that
For real people are such assholes
Her comment section is monitored to filter out all negative comments anyway so???
I'm vegan and after having a quick look through the top comments I'm glad to see they're positive. Reducing (which you said was your goal) animal product consumption is already an amazing goal to have. Its okay to not feel like you can go the whole way all the time but just incorporating more plants and reducing animal products to not being in every meal is wonderful. Meatless Mondays or a plant based meal or two throughout your day is great and makes a difference. I hope you see the benefits to yourself and the planet.
L I V vegan for life
"I don't know these things; I'm an uneducated swine." Lmao Kurt
You know you love Sarah’s Day when you watching it at 3am and you love your sleep
I’m going to try to be a healthier person this week!! This couldn’t have come at a better time! Love you sezzy!!
Claudia McCarthy goodluck, it feels so good eating healthy! I have a small health based channel if ur interested I hope I can help x
Paris Hedger thanks! I’ll check it out!
Claudia McCarthy thank you! I hope I can help x
Have fun with it! The mood you eat it in is as important as the food! =)
The struggle is real when trying to get produce without plastic 😆 I try to support grocery stores that use less, but I’ll be in awe at the day I can get lettuce not in plastic.
Kelly is here. Not sure where you live, but Whole Foods (in US) has lettuce and spinach without plastic. (And some in plastic as well)
You guys are literally SO cute! I'm sorry that you've had a lot of hate comments on the littlest things... you don't deserve that! I have a son who is 6 months old and you have inspired me to not only start eating better but also start my own CZcams Channel! I haven't done a ton and it's pretty obvious that I'm new at it, but it has been really fun! Thank you guys for being so awesome!
Ive been vegan for 5 years & im so glad you guys have made this video!! I think the fact that you are conscious of incorporating more plant based meals into your everyday life is so good, even 1 or 2 meals a week will make a difference! Love you both💕
Keeley Devlin vegan is the best for sure
"Dancing moms! Dancing moms!" kurts little song was the cutest, funniest lil thing
The Game Changer is literally what turned my family veggo, like its crazy
How good it is!!! 😍
Amazing!!! There’s a free challenge on Facebook called challenge22.com if you want to check it out ❤️
It motivated many men who thought that vegan is for girls and hippies. It was a very interesting movie. My husband turned plant based during weekdays. I'm a vegan since like 14 years old.
Lily Goodwin exactly. It was my dad who was the one who initiated it. He was taken back by the cholesterol part of the doco and insisted that we started incorporating a vegan diet within our lifestyle.
Vegan family of 3 here. We spend roughly $200 at woolies on our weekly groceries. And that’s including nappies and wipes etc for our toddler. My hubby also likes to get the vegan sausage rolls, fry’s patties and ice cream which bumps up that price too. If we didn’t get that stuff it would be around $150 a week. All the pre made and packaged stuff is what can make it expensive. It’s way cheaper to make everything yourself from scratch. We also go to a fruit market once a month and pick up bulk produce for really cheap. Last time we went we picked up 1.5kg of baby spinach, 4kg of strawberries and 10kg of bananas for $35. We freeze it all in bulk for smoothies and it lasts us almost the whole month. I’ve just planted my own herbs and kale in pots at home too. There are a lot of ways to make it cheaper than mainstream diets. Really nice to see you guys trying it out.
Sarah: “thick skin”
Me, obsessed with her products: Thick *MOISTURIZED* skin, *without the slippery mess*
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Should have got some self promo in at that point 😂😂😂
I loved that you guys tried this - I’m vegan and I’m proud you guys are implementing more plant based foods well done ❤️❤️
Omg I just watched the game changers it was such an eye opening documentary and ever since I've watched it I've seen it everywhere and my family has been trying to eat less meat and its so cool that this video popped up now! Loved the video 💙
sarah !!!! i’ve loved your channel and specifically your what i eat in a days ! i’m a new college student (ugh) and i super struggle w ibs and acne (and like a million other things) your videos have helped me so much but now i’m at school where i can’t cook. if super love if you attempted do do a no cooking what i eat in a day (i only have a microwave in the dorm) k love you byeee
I’m vegan too and as much as I’d love everyone to go vegan, I understand that not everyone will but it’s awesome that people are trying to be more conscious in other ways and also eating less animal products and I’m not about to hate on someone for not being vegan because we’re all human and I’m not perfect either 💜 Thanks for doing a video like this and not hating on vegans because of their bad rep. Ps I spend about $100 a week on food for myself and you get used to the gas as a vegan 🙊 It eases 😂 The packet/processed foods definitely increase the $$. FYI TRY A VEGO BAR....they’re DELICIOUS. Taste like Nutella 😋
Conscious and Kind yesssss! I spend like $140 for a family of 3 (with me breastfeeding and pregnant with a huge appetite haha) it’s super easy to be creative and cheap eating vegan/plant based!
@@mindfulnessmeditations4962 that's so cool 👏 Yes, very easy 😀
Lee 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I’m lovinggggg that you did this and watched the documentary because I totally messaged you about it and was looking for your opinion on it!
Kata Reddy I just dm her in insta hoping someone sees it 🙃
Love the “experimental” eating videos. Would be cool to see a budget one next!
Loved this video so much! A couple years ago, I went vegan for a few months just to see if I could challenge myself to cook different meals, like you did. It was a really fun challenge and I learned that I actually really like plant-based meals! I try not to eat a ton of red meat myself these days, mostly chicken and I do eat eggs. It's better for the planet, and it's apparently good for your colon health too. Yay for plants!
You are just so amazing. Love when you show what you eat. I think it’s so important to have an “idol” that doesn’t count macros. The amount of times I’ve been told that I need to count them in order to lose fat.. it’s upsetting. So thank you !
I know that wasn’t the intended point of your video but I needed to mention it. Really great to watch you guys go through different diets that the rest of us do on the daily.
the whole family is beautiful 😍
Aldi also has some awesome organic, gluten free and healthy sections that are a lot more affordable if trying to cut cost!! 💗💗
We have an Aldi by our house! I've only been in there once! I need to go back!!
Aldi is the best!!
OMG I LOVE ALDI super super inexpensive and the food is great. I always shop at both Aldi and Walmart. But always aldi first whatevs they dont have I go to walmart. P.s. its even cheaper than walmart
I'm so happy you did this video! I feel like its so easy to get slap dash about where to buy animal products from and I remember after you were vegan you said you would only buy organic free range well sourced/farmed products but in your vlogs I saw lots from woolies, which I wouldn't say is that as such (no hate at all I know its easy to not remember when you have so much else going on in your life). But watching a documentary and remembering that importance and to cut down is such a great thing to do and its so good that you are raising this awareness on your channel again!
I so love your channel!! Your content is spot on! I’m primarily a paleo eater and just tried vegan this week-feeling the environmental pull to eat plant based with no meat. It’s challenging to get all the calories in-being active-super hungry all the time. And I’m afraid I’ll gain weight eating so many carbs. Don’t know if once you eat plant based for a bit your body adjusts and you maintain being lean?? Digestion is def not the same on the plant based-wondering again With time if you adjust-aka bloating ;) love you Sarah-I’m twice your age (seriously) and think and do things so much like you!! You make me feel young!! ❤️ I’m half way around the world 🌎 from you too- Vermont USA. 🙏🏼 Thank you for all you do!!
you should watch healthy Emmy's vlogs as she talks about how to lose weight on a high carb plant-based diet (i know you're probably not looking to loose weight but you might feel better after watching her vlogs as she basically debunks the myths on carbs making you gain weight etc.) she's a qualified nutritionist and has ebooks and stuff so definitely would recommend checking her out if your worried about eating too many carbs/calories
czcams.com/video/monTzdOxBcg/video.html
Sarah: Okay, lets just sip some of it out. So cute. Plus I also am eating nearly all the time. Snacking😋
Sporadic plant-based-what-i-eat-in-a-days would be amazing!!
Hungry Sarah is my spirit animal lol
I've been plant based for one year now and definitely am feeling the benefits! So nice to see you're adding more plant-based meals, I love getting more ideas and recipes :) If you haven't tried already, the BEST homemade patty is just adding a can of black beans in a blender + a mexican spice mix, fry with some olive oil and serve with avocado + green salad
Congratulations on everything you’re achieving!!! With life, business, family, everything!!! I love you heaps!!!
I’m listening to the health code podcast as the notification for this video came up aha
The best way to start a Sunday? With a new Sarah video 😍
great vod am curious though how you felt? with incorporating more plant based foods, did you feel better or any different? did you feel hungry more often and/or less satiated? that feed back would have been great info to have at the end of the vlog!
I’m currently drinking a chai tea because I just watched one of your old videos where you showed your recipe for chai tea 😍 Its crazy watching your old videos and then your new videos. You’ve come such a long way xx
Such a good vlog. I was talking to my friend on Friday about this and have also decided to be more plant based.
Love how you uploaded it on a Sunday night gives me more motivation for the week. I haven’t watched the documentary yet but hoping to this week. Would love to see more plant based recipes in your blogs. X
Anytime something is processed, the cost increases (gotta factor in workers, factories, additives, mixed ingredients, transport costs, etc...) so “plant based” items that aren’t fruit, veggies or legumes as they’re found in nature are going to be so expensive! Then factor in that available protein is much lower (g for g) in plants vs meats. Then add that you need to eat a huge volume of plants to reach the same protein or fat requirements your body needs that are available in much smaller quantities of meat. Then add the cost of supplements that aren’t in plants (like B12 and collagen).
It’s possible to live healthy on plant based or vegan diets, but it’s crazy expensive and to be honest - think of how much crop space is required for massive volumes of plants, and the environmental impacts of factories making tofu, dips, supplements, etc. It’s a lot easier and more affordable to be healthy when you’re eating meat, and it can actually be so much better for the planet.
Love that you’re trying to eat more plant based, it’s a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. I really enjoyed your video!
To cut the cost out of eating this way, simply cut back on the packaged products and you and hubby both spend an hour or two prepping for the week; spiralize your veggies, cook your grains, beans and legumes, make those lovely dips you enjoy! It takes a chunk out of the grocery bill, reduces plastic usage and makes mealtimes easier! Also, Indian black salt will give an eggy taste to your tofu scramble!
You guys are so fun to watch!
AS SOON AS I GET THE NOTIFCATION MY DAY GETS SO MUCH BETTER! LOVE YA GIRL XXXXX
Love you sezzy. Love how your back into the healthy plant based fit life 💕💕💕💕🌱🌱
Loved this type of vid!! What I eat, Kurt/fox, day in the life ALL IN ONE 🙌🏼♥️
Omg! My husband and I just watched that documentary and are trying it out for the week too!! This video is PERFECT timing!!
Sezzy, you're such an inspiration! I'm starting my fitness journey to become healthy, lose fat and heal my mild PCOD...can u make a video for beginners of how to get into fitness and stick to it! All the basics! Love love love you!
She has so many videos on this go back and watch her old videos and fittness journey story
i have mild PCOS as well. i've been TTC and having issues... diet is everything!!
@@MichelleBurr diet truly is everything! :"(
The rate fox is growing is INSANE! I swear it feels like I watched your labour vlog yesterday!! 🤯🙊
I was vegan for 3.5 years and I was endlessly hungry and fatigued. I was experiencing a ton of blood sugar spikes and crashes due to such a carbohydrate rich diet. It wasn't a protein issue since I was getting around 80-100 grams of protein every day. I've since added half of a chicken breast daily into my meal plan and I feel loads better! I have so much more energy and I actually stay full after eating!
I’m happy you tried it💛😍
I’ve been vegan for 3 years after watching Earthlings. It broke my heart😢;
I don’t buy expensive stuff, I buy fruits, veggies, tofu, legumes, like beans, chickpeas, rice, potatoes and sweet potatoes, almond milk and sometimes yoghurt. I rarely buy ( for a treat) vegan cheese, meat, falafels ( I just make vegan burger and falafels at home at they’re usually cheap), berries are really expensive. I buy seasonal fruits and veg. Nut butters are really expensive. I buy peanut butter and just some nuts and seeds to top my oats and smoothies. I also don’t buy “organic” stuff. They’re SO expensive. Beansare the same, the “organic” label is in my opinion a way to get more profit but there’s no guarantee that they’re actually better for you than the normal beans.
I have been thinking on starting to eat healthy and getting fitter but I have no idea were to start
Sienna McKenzie My suggestion would be to think long term/lifestyle More than an experimental diet/workout routine. Something to remember is that you can always be a little healthier than the day before.. or the week or month before. There will always be people more and less in shape and healthy than you, but never let it discourage you. Let people inspire you, but ignore those who judge! I don’t know where you are in your lifestyle, but let me make a couple suggestions that can maybe help..
One is to pick up a new good habit or drop a bad one frequently (weekly or daily for some.. others may take months.) For example if you drink soda every day, try to go every other day, and then sometime one soda a week, and possibly almost never.. Try to cut back on things like that.. sugary or processed items.. You don’t have to cut back to nothing with everything, but each healthy choice makes you a little healthier. Likewise add in things that are healthy, and become increasingly healthy overtime. Maybe you are skipping fast food or processed pastas more, but what do you eat? Think healthy fat (such as avocados, to help you digest) healthy carbs (present in most fruits, vegetables, and grains for energy,) and healthy protein (lean meats like turkey or beans, broccoli, mushrooms, etc.. for muscle strength and tone.) It’s important to balance these things so that you are giving your body energy and keeping it fueled and taken care of. When you think “healthy foods,” think of the things you enjoy.. If you absolutely hate avocados, buy something else you like.. Love sweet potatoes? They are so good for you and you also enjoy them (for this example anyway,) so buy them instead! When trying to be healthy, get things that are pretty raw, but all things you enjoy. It’s important to enjoy what you eat, and as you become more familiar with things, your pallet will start to expand to new things. I recommend using technology to encourage you, not overwhelm you. This can be tricky.. So here’s an example: Instead of googling lists of what foods are good for you and why, I like to choose one thing. Let’s say I’m snacking on almonds or want to maybe buy some, I look up “what are the health benefits of almonds?” And then I become even more encouraged to eat that healthy thing that I was already enjoying.
When it comes to exercise, doing 5 minutes of anythingggg daily makes a difference. I recommend finding anything active that you find fun and doing it regularly. I’m not a gym girl, but I still work out. Here’s some fun workout ideas!! :) Swimming, surfing, boating, hiking, walking, tennis, ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, hula hooping (try a fitness hoop!,) Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, snow shoeing, skiing, biking, dancing (even in your bedroom!! :)) Some of these things you can take classes for as well, which can also help keep you on track.
It’s very very important not to overwhelm yourself!! Just do one or two things at a time for healthier food and fitness. If you try to change your diet and fitness too suddenly, you’ll likely want to quit or fill up on sweets or something. Don’t feel guilty if you allow yourself a pizza night with friends to give yourself a little break.. if you don’t want to mess up being healthy too much, you could eat a salad or fresh produce before going to pizza and then maybe one piece would make you fill full. Never deprive yourself, just adapt what can satisfy your cravings.
In addition to these food and fitness things, it’s important to get well rounded vitamins and minerals. I recommend a multivitamin and possibly some omegas, zinc, magnesium, calcium, and perhaps others. You could ask your dr. Others I take (which you can just incorporate into food) is ginger (settles the bloated/uncomfortable tummy,) cinnamon, and Apple cider vinegar. Don’t forget to drink lots of water, get enough sleep, and enjoy some sunshine. Remember to love your body and don’t forget that you’re working with it, not against it. Try to listen to what it needs. Most importantly SMILE. You are making a positive change towards your body, and it’s important to keep a positive mindset on board. Best of luck to you!💕
Thank you Meagan Rohler I will keep all of your tips in mind. I do walk every day for at least 30 minutes in the morning and sometimes at night and I also try and fit in running every now and then. My main problem is my eating habits which you have definitely helped me by slowly not eating foods with high sugar levels etc. Thank you so so much hope you have an amazing day 😁
LOVE THE EDITING OF YOUR VIDEOS LATELY SEZZY 💜💜💜💜
I love these videos! It definitely makes me inspired to incorporate more plant based meals into my diet! I would love a video/Instagram post on how you make different versions of tofu! I can never get it right!
omg that fruit bowl looked so good! definitely need to try it myself 🥰🙌🏻🍓🍇
love it when you upload sezzy, also can’t wait to get your pity putty🥰🤩 also how has fox been sleeping and eating xoxo
Me: has a 4am wake up for morning dance tomorrow
Also me: clicks Sarah video as soon as it uploads.
And I will not regret it.
Honestly what I took away from the documentary was everyone can include more fruit and veg, whether you eat meat or not. Any reduction in meat has good effects on the environment, animal welfare and on humans, so even if people start with Meat free Mondays, or two meatless meals a week, it will make a huge difference on a global scale. I feel like on a global scale, just reducing meat from a few meals a week is far more achievable than an all or nothing approach suggested in the documentary. Each to their own, everyone has different lifestyles. Loved this video Sezzy.
Hummus is super easy to make from scratch! Don’t waist your money on those dips!❤️
All I saw was "Sarahs Day" and I immediately clicked on the video. I didn't even check the title
Sarah: You could've used Coconut nectar
Kurt: I don't know these things, I'm uneducated swine
hahahahaha made me laugh so much.
Much love from Morocco
You can recreate those dips especially if you like cooking
Just listened to your health code poddy and found it so interesting! Also been rewatching your old vids of you and Kurt ALL DAY, so it was a sign when I seen your video pop up in my notifications haha full day of Sezzy and Kurtle! Loving the experiment and I am on the same train rn! Trying to reduce the amount of meat I’m eating so this is so wonderful!! Also can I get a hell yeah for annoying it is that in Aus we package EVERYTHING IN FLIPPING PLASTIC!!!
$400 omgomgomg! I went through uni here in Australia as a vegan and kept budget in mind but also made sure I wasn’t going without nutrition and enjoyment and would usually spend $60-80 per week. Literally such a good experiment though, and if you can afford to splurge it would be rude not to! Great video sezzy!
That’s a months worth of groceries for me. 😂
That dinner though... YUM.
Same
A month of groceries for me and my bf!
Same. My husband and I have been vegan for over 4 years. Our groceries average around $150 every two weeks. We try to get bulk foods when we can especially for nuts, seeds, nutritional yeast, oats, granola, rice, pasta, lentils, etc. Most veggies and fruits (fresh or frozen) are reasonably priced at our local stores. We also don't pay much attention to organic labels. Canned beans are typically pretty cheap, and tofu is always available and inexpensive where I live.
I feel like there's definitely a learning curve when it comes to vegan shopping the smart way. Just takes a little research and a bit of practice to get used to it.
Just throwing this out there, that even making all those things such as the hummus, salsas dips can save a lot of money 💰 since your groceries came out so expensive... even reduce a little plastic waste👍
I watched that documentary a couple weeks ago, and it really opened my eyes to a lot!! We're challenging ourselves as a family to incorporate *way* more plants as well and even have as many meat-free days as possible throughout the week, I just always thought I couldn't get my daily protein needs through just plants, and boy was I wrong! The only thing I wish they would've talked about in that film is brain health because I LOVE eggs and fish for my brain health! Anyway Pick Up Limes has endless amazing vegan recipes here on CZcams and her blog of the same name - her sweet potato tofu scramble breakfast wraps are a staple in our house! They're amaaazing!!
I LOVE your food videos, and I thought this was a really cool concept! Would love to see more in the future 😁❤
I’m vegan and I clicked on this video so fast
How has your skin been? It seems that for me if I overload on healthy fats my skin breaks out, specifically forehead/brow area, which is correlated with liver.
1. I only made it past your breakfast and just wanted to thank you so much for giving plant based food a try!! ❤️. It’s so easy once you get used to it.
2. My mouth hit the floor when you told us your grocery bill LOL. I’ve been Vegan for nearly 8 years and haven’t spent that much a week. Or even two weeks lol
3. LOL at Kurt for thinking that honey comes from plants.
4. Fox is THE cutest baby ever!!
5. Back to the video. ❤️ from Canada.
The thing is, plant based eating for me isn’t about health (while it does make me feel great), I just can’t eat animals having seen the pain and suffering they have got through to go to my plate. I don’t know how anyone could.
I agree whole-heartedly! It just breaks me inside & I don't see any need for it whatsoever when I can get anything I need through plants
Charlotte Emma ahhh here start the backhanded comments lol let people be.
Layla Barrera it’s not backhanded, I was stating facts and saying how I feel. I’m not okay with ‘letting people be’ when animals are treated absolutely disgustingly and then are murdered for five minutes on somebody’s plate. ☺️
Layla Barrera 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Completely agree except I think the important thing about this documentary is that it is encouraging people who don't necessarily have the same views to try plant based diets by appealing to their sense of health. And at the end of the day, we should encourage anything that gets people to change their eating habits and try plant based xx
“Refrain your hate” it’s okay Sezzy I’m an Australian too and it’s hard to find anything at our supermarkets with no plastic at all❤️
I watched the same documentary and I’m now going plant based too
Hi Sarah, love all your videos!!!! I love the whole plant based eating as I’m not a fan of meat, BUT I suffer from kidney stones and much of the plant based foods are high in Oxalates. Any suggestions? I can’t just eat pumpkin and lettuce and chic peas. It’s been so hard trying to find more alternatives even soy is on my do not eat list. 😣
For this problem, I’d see a dietician a few times because they will be able to help the most xx
Love this! Saw that same doc and had definitely wanting us to eat more plant based as well. Love you 💕
My family and I are implementing the same things because of the same documentary. Thank you for sharing, I love little foxies faaaace 😍
I just watched your wisdom tooth video for reference for me tomorrow. Dreading it due to the fact of being on a good fitness grind. It’s nice looking back and relating to you Sarah even from years ago. Thanks for sharing your life. Make my day everyday!! Hope your doing ok while Kurt is gone!
Hope you're doing well!
Yayyy as someone who's been vegan for a few years this makes me super happy. This is what people should be doing. I know a lot of vegans might come for you for being "fake vegan" or whatever but to be honest this is so much more sustainable and realistic and it makes me so happy to see you encouraging people to choose more plant options without feeling the need to be restrictive about it. Thanks for this, Sarah!
oh my goodness, you guys need to come to the UK for a food haul if you do a holiday - we do our shop for 2 people, and maybe some extras when people come over, it's around £100 in Aldi/lidl/asda and it's all organic, free range and the juiciest freshest fruit and veg - It's soooo expensive over there! The food lasts for weeks as we try to freeze everything and apparently preserves all the nutrients so there's no veggies that go off in this house!
Slaying it guys
I never comment but ... as a vegan I’m so happy seeing this ! Every meal counts and it’s so great that you’re implementing more plant based meals 🌱
I’m vegan and spend $30 per week on groceries 😂
Damn, how? What does your daily meal lineup usually look like?
I used to spend around 30€ per week too but now I need to save money and I spend only 10€ per week and it is going fine (no junk food)
That “pasta” dish looks amazing!
I tried the chia/frozen fruit/granola bowl and it is amazing!!
I just have a question ! Why did you weigh your fruit and nuts for your snack? :)
What happened to intuitive eating?
i feel like eating plant based 70 percent of the time, and “normal” (for lack of better word) for the other 30 percent of the time, is incredibly beneficial for your health and for the planet. some vegans truly believe that you have to go all in or be all out, that kind of mindset is completely counter productive.
riri Thats because you think of doing this for yourself, a lot of hardcore vegans are it for the rights of animals.
I get what you mean but as the other commenter said that’s only if you’re making the change for personal/health reasons. If you plan to go vegan for ethical reasons, and the sake of the animals, then it makes no sense to eat plant based only 70% of the time. You’re still supporting animal slaughter. You’re either eating dead animals or you’re not 🤷♀️.
@@leahmcdermott4189 but something is better than nothing. It's still better for animal welfare if people eat less meat and animal products. A lot of people don't cut back on animal products because vegans portray this all or nothing idea and people don't want to give up a few things that they really like, so they give up nothing.
Michelle Kilcoyne thank you michelle, you get it. i’m all for animal welfare and am vegan myself, but i think anything is better than nothing. if the entire world decided to go plant based 4 out of 7 days it would change the planet dramatically...
I want to try and be Paleo based! What would be a good start?
hey sarah! do you think there's a huge difference nutrition-wise with organic fruit verses non-organic?
