Once Linda covers a song, it's hers. Case closed.
The greatest, most diverse female vocalist of her generation.
Gorgeous important pipes. If you aren't listening to Ronstadt you're not as cool as you think you are. Very special- now more than ever.
I am happy to know that me being as cool as I think I am has not yet been ruled out.
Linda Ronstadt is what the universe creates when it's showing off. Rare. Real and Remarkable.
Linda? do you realize how BEAUTIFUL you are are?
That distortion in her voice at the end when she shouts "NO! Noooooo!" is both luscious and face-melting at the same time. What a voice.
This girl could and did sing anything--anything--better than any song stylist of her era and probably any era. Period.
I totally agree with you and let me add she had the it factor and could adjust to any genre of music. Kenny d.
The lady...the voice...the song...the guitar...what more do you seek?
LINDA RONSTADT LIVES FOREVER.🙏🙏🙏🙏🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️
Grab the microphone and sing your heart out. What a concept. No one did it better than Linda.
One of the all time greatest female vocalists. At her peak just phenomenal power and range and could do all genres which was extraordinary!
Big Time Loved herplayed her as DJ yeh
totally agree with you wonderful vocal range
Love that
I can’t believe a beautiful woman can sing so beautifully she’s so pure and the coolest female singer of all time
The guitar in this song is one of the coolest of any song.
Think it's Danny Kortchmar. Remember reading her say that his playing brought out something in her voice she needed for this song. He's still playing in a group called "The Immediate Family" with Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel, Wally Wachtel and Steve Postell.
Does not get any better than this
Singing in two octaves WOW baby !
I like how the guitar was screaming and crying in the same passion as the lead vocals of one of the greatest voices ever captured on film. Thanks for bringing back good memories of the '80s!
Guitar was screaming at me! Love it.
I agree!
It was perfect. The great Danny Kortchmar on guitar.
While on vacation in The Philippines this past February, I heard this repeatedly on their oldies station in Southeast Asia. Ronstadt sells it!
Danny Kortchmar making that strat sing like Linda's singular voice. So poignant, so plaintive. the pain is palpable...Incredible song.
The great Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar on lead guitar. Russ Kunkel on drums Bob Glaub on bass Dan Dugmore guitar

sO' much ‼️
.i was trying to find out who everyone else was
for this *')/ \¡¡/
😊
It took me 2 minutes in to realize it wasn't lip synching! Man, they were tight.
I love how "Please don't go - please don't go" harmonizes/blends perfectly with the guitar riff 1:41 Great song - pure, raw angst and heartbreak...
Every radio station played her beautiful songs, from ballads to pure rock and roll..live long Linda Rondstat..You helped define a generation ❤
Greatest female vocalist of all time.
as dolly said, linda could sing any type of music and sound fantastic, (paraphrase mine)
I love this woman so much ,she is one of the greatest voices of this planet!
I hear you! It is so easy to understand why you'd love her forever, too.
Angel's Music YES SHE IS!!
That and she’s beautiful
One of the greatest
My wife passes,5 weeks later I wake up and this song is in my head,,out the blue,I go on youtube and there it is.. Linda .Mind BLOWN.
Blessings
Synchronicity
Linda one of the very few female vocalist with a five octave range. Very few female singers have achieved that vocal dream.
No one compares to her. God gave us one of her and I am truly grateful.
Gorgeous honesty in her powerful voice. She never seems to strain - just great natural singing.
Sally Sheridan actually, Linda R took opera singing lessons. This is how she is able to have such power behind her voice
wow she can belt out a song!!!! there is nothing out there now that comes close to this
The best
@@chriscooper7642 Ronstadt never took a singing lesson until she did Pirates of Penzance in the summer of 1980. This is recorded in 1979 and Linda was a super powerful singer going back to her earliest days in Tucson. She has stated that those voice sessions gave her more colors in her pipes.
Effortless
Linda and Little Anthony both own and rule this overwhelming powerful and beautiful song, just in different ways. Both versions are at the top....
Linda completely ruled her era, just a superb singer. It didn't hurt to be surrounded by some of the best musicians in the business.
They sought her out. She was pure gold. Her pipes were magical.
Masterpiece.
Throughout her career, Linda caught flack for doing so many remakes. Well, she very often improved on the original...case in point, this searing performance. What so many critics seemed not to understand is that she was always an interpretive singer, like Sinatra and Tony Bennett and others , only she applied her talents to a huge range of different styles, unparalleled really. She is consistently underrated.
most critics of covers or anything can't sing a note, or cannot sing as good as this, so screw the critics...armchair quarterbacks. IMO as far as improving songs that were well written is almost impossible. Often that is based on one's musical preference, and out of context of the time it was written and how people sang in that era. how they produced records with less technology. Rather than improvement I would use the word "reinterpretation." Little Anthony and the Imperials' version is merely slower, with an orchestra and harmony singers instead of screaming guitar, of which at the time there was really no such thing. Little Anthony was no slouch of a vocalist, he was a bad ass.
She is good but Little Anthony owns this song!
yeh true she did do covers but u gotta admit when she sang em she did a good job on them
You sound like an amazing person!.As a teen I fell in love with this music My Dad would correct me and say it has been out there for years. He was a huge Tony Bennett fan
For many years people cover other peoples songs
Here we have the true definition of belting out a song.
what a voice! what a song!
Linda has a powerful voice
Feeling depressed. This song came to me. Love Linda.
Boy does she get it. My favorite lady.
Love how that Rhodes electric piano sounds. Love its thick chorus. 🎹
One of my favorites singers! So much emotion!
Such a talent. Wow.
Beautiful
She was a doll baby then and she still is. My prayers to you Linda ronstandt
Woww the way the guitar and Linda's screams blend together is insane
insane.
This was very well composed! I miss the good old day's
This song gives me the shivers; Linda's passion, the searing guitar solo and the final NOOOOOO. A truly unique talent never to be seen or heard again. She knows what lines and words to emphasize in this soaring anthem of broken heartedness
Absolutely Doug
Awesome take 👍
You said almost exactly what I was thinking watching this video 😃
I think she was heartbroken over that snake Jerry Brown when she sang this👈
@@lindabergman3127 she had a great set of lungs on this one.. I was 16 when this song played on my A.M radio lol
Linda, you are the greatest singer ever. Thank you so much. This song is so good. The true Queen .❤
She did everything right . Great mind and very intelligent lady. Bless you Linda ronstandt
"Come Back it Hurts So Bad".......OMG ❤
She takes us with her when she sings.
Just like Celia Black what a voice and Dusty, the three together Singing 😲 WOW together would have been a treasure trove 🏆🏆🏆🏆
No one could touch Linda. Her vocal chops are remarkable. Her ability to grab your heart was very rare.
Zeke Gabriel Linda, Olivia, Dolly, Karen, Emmylou, Pat, Helen, Anne, I Could Go On. THESE Are Some Great Female Voices.
@@richardkaltenbach3961 Most of those girls couldn't carry her microphone. Karen Carpenter, Anne Murray? - cornball schlock. Not in Ronstadt's league.
Ann wilson
Yes she did grab your heart. There is something in her voice that just makes me cry. She can do rock queen, she can do big ballad, she can do opera even but when she sings those pared-down little songs of love and loss or folk songs about people down on their luck or doomed (Louisa), I just want to cry. It is the depth of emotion in her voice.
A lot like Karen Carpenter but so different also unbelievable!
Doesn't get any better than this !!
I wish Linda could sing today!
At 3:01- “NOOO !!”
At 3:03- “NOOO-OOOO !!!”
there will never be another voice like Linda's.....
Correct...it breaks my heart to see her stricken w illness
Danny Kortchmar blows me away with his strat here. Incredible solo, conveying the dark, hurt emotions of a scorned lover. The chorus riff reminds me of "One of these nights" by the Eagles.
Linda sings so beautifully so effortless!!!
...MY INTRODUCTION, to "80's Linda"; ...I knew of her 70's stuff, but, THIS SONG....the moody vibe, the SCORCHING guitar, the 'rock chick' vocals...It was on my Aunt's (RIP) "Greatest Hits, Vol. 2" LP, and, I played it over, over & OVER....LOVED the short, 'little boy' haircut on Linda, too..... this was the personification of Spring, 1980, to me.....Hurt so BAD!? ..Hurts so GOOD.....
her pipes are incredible, magic... I read somewhere she said.. my job is to make people cry and she does me
Awesome perfect......
To add to that I was just listening to little Anthony's version . It sounded flat and in no way compares to Linda's version. Linda is one of the great female singers of all time . She is often underrated and deserves far more recognition . Sydney Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 6/12/2023
In my opinion she is and always will be the queen of rock n roll. You are Great 👍. My prayers are with you.
that song and her voice sent shivers down my spine...i was going thru my first divorce...what a voice and woman...
Very nice version by a talented lady. And those guitars !
Linda was so different from the typical rock starlet--much closer to a blues shouter (like Etta James) than anything else. What power in her voice when she let go, and what subtlety when she toned it down. I know that Parkinson's has taken her voice now, but she is one for the ages, and still one of my favorites. My kids thought Beyonce & Britney could sing--until I played them a cross mix of Linda & Karen Carpenter. Case closed, and I thank God I lived in the era. Linda, I wish you a pain free, happy life for the joy you brought all of your fans. God speed, and God bless.
I do not think it is Parkinson's but I believe it is MS. It is still so sad. When I first heard about it, I posted that I was sorry to hear it and I got a reply from Linda Ronstadt saying thank you.
Robert Sharpe her arrangement of Ill always love you is the same one Whitney used later in her monster hit. Linda never released it.
Robert Sharpe ~ I’ll always love you was originally Dolly Parton
I see you wrote this 2 years ago. Well said. Linda is one for the ages!
That was so nice and sweet
She's the best~~Got goosebumps when she hit the high note and get teary eyed when I listen to her songs~~I mean like, what a voice~~💓💓💓
She truly nailed a Little Anthony and The Imperials cover. Her own punk rock version. I love this song ❤️.
Great Singer. Gorgeous pipes no matter what she wrapped them around. Superior to her contemporaries and without modern day peers.
I love her and this song.
Greatest voice of all time
Pure Emotion in Her Voice. Gives me chills.
Exactly, me too.. wish I had the nerve to send this to my ex husband but it wouldn’t matter, it’s too late.
Linda owned every song .....Much Love
Must pay homage to one of the greatest singers of all times. Her version of this song is riveting. Takes your breath away. Yes, Little Anthony did it first and was great but Ronstadt's cover is so much more powerful and heartbreaking.
YES!!!
How great and wonderful...Three guitarist!!! Danny!!!!!!!! Dan!!!! and Mark!!!
She releases the super natural kind of voice, and that makes her a supergreat singer.
Great voice
Fantastic live vocals and intense electric guitar playing, both soaring majestic, bursting from their souls, "Oh...No...Nooooooo" > 2:58
Greatest singer of all time. Not just a sweet pretty voice, she can really sing. And she can sing country, pop, rock, soul, duets, trio.
Beautiful!
Happy 74th Birthday Linda Maria Ronstadt!(Born July 15, 1946)😀🎂🎉🎊🎈🎁🍾❤🌷🌹💐👍👏🙌
Such a beautiful, heartbreaking song - and delivered perfectly by the gorgeous Linda Ronstadt. This song portrays the raw, desperate pleas of abject despair that I'd dare say most of us have uttered from our knees at some painful time or other in our lives.Bravo Linda!😎👍
Tears in my eyes I never saw her live
It was said Linda had perfect pitch, I often felt She did not always “push” her voice, but when She did, such as this sone, it was pure magic. As a Teen I was in love with her!
Linda had the knack of making a song hers. Most of the time they were as good or if not better than the originals, this being a case in point.
Absolute perfection,thank you Linda🙂
She could sing anything and make it great 💖💖💖💐😍
Love her. The best singer ever.
Russ Kunkel's drumming on this song is fantastic; powerful and yet still sensitive in the right moments. And Linda's scorching vocals along with Korchner's scorching guitar work made this live version one of her best. What a vocalist and what an amazing band!
I’ve been on a Linda Ronstadt trip of late and every new song I hear becomes my favourite, extraordinary woman.
Trademark vocals!!!! Unmistakable Linda Ronstadt!!!!!! Great to see she was honored at the Kennedy Center along with Earth Wind and Fire and Sally Field. So miss the 70s.
Danny Kortchmar’s guitar work on this song is gorgeously blistering, perfectly accenting the angst and anguish of the lyrics.
A wonderful song and performance from Linda.
I played this album (Mad Love) more times than I could ever count, back in ‘80.
Now that's a soulful guitar solo! It don't matter how many notes you play, just how you play 'em.
I just heard this song for the first time over the weekend. LOVE IT!!
I'm glad you heard it!
@@bernadette4484 Thank you! I really am too! Its now in my music library and has been listened to a LOT
WHEN I USED TO BELIEVE IN LOVE.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Oh my god - just like the recording!
Same key - same emotion and all the points hit exactly where you’re familiar with it so you can feel it live!
That’s what people want when they see someone live!
They want to relive it exactly the way they’ve always felt it - they want the artist to be able to do that in front of them so they can feel “their” song in a totally submersible experience.
It's 2024 and still, she is the best of the best. Thank you Linda.
I can feel her emotions when she sings. I have loved her since 1975. Damn she can sing!!!!
He's in love don't stand his way.. My favorite line of the song. I used that line sarcasmly in the past . I love her so beautuful, strong , and full of emotion. We all have been there !!!
