Linda's range and power of her voice is one of a kind. The best female singer in music history.
The older I get the more I appreciate her brilliance!
One of the best female rock vocalist of all time
If Ronstadt wanted to Rock - she rocked. If she wanted to Roll she rolled. She sang what she wanted, when she wanted. Viva Linda and that voice. Oh my lord, that voice.
Well said! 😁 Fantastic evaluation of her!
I second what Anne said! Perfect description of this monumental talent.
That's Russ Kunkel helping her rock on the drums. A band is only as good as it's drummer. Russ played with James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, and Jimmy Buffet. He's 73 now.
Blue Bayou can suck it. That was her best song.
She managed to punk rock as hell while being the living embodiment of mom jeans.
The greatest ever female artist. We still love you today Linda Ronstadt. Forever singing to us .
This song does not begin, it explodes!
Russ Kunkle's drum work starts it off.
She is Mexican and German. Saw her in cancun 1998. I stayed on 15th floor holiday inn while she sang in the main floor terrace with mariachi playing. WOW how Awesome!!
The eyes at the end speaks loud n clear.Thats Linda
Ronstadt sayin' "here you go - some hard, fast, punky, new wave rock and roll vocals - no sweat, now I'm off to do operetta or anything else I damn well feel like singing" - Gotta luv her! Great, pure vocalists.
j
This version is much more intense and punk sounding than the original recording from the Mad Love LP. The drummer is doing eighth notes on the hat and ride giving it that Ramones feel.
Amazing, incredible backing and main vocals.Humbling to hear such talent.Long live Linda and her wonderful voice
This clip took my breath away when I first saw it in 1980 - a live, single-take performance, wildly electric - and it still does. Ms. Ronstadt hits every note, and her vocal performance captures the ironic mood perfectly. A true artist, able to move through different genres with verve and precision. This one moment has stuck with me over the years like no other.
You’re right, it’s not lip sync’d, frickin amazing.
Linda was always rock and roll, remember she worked with the guys who became the Eagles. I was super excited to hear that she was into new wave and this single had her really shouting! Never forget what she was capable of, a vocal range between the understated and restrained to the full throated rawness she displays here. She truly is an American icon.
She created Eagles.
@@bgsbnny143 She did not create the Eagles, she simply got them to play on her albums.
@DJDiscoCat She not only worked with the Eagles, she played a major role in their formation and gave them her blessing to go on their own, what a classy lady!
@@DJDiscoCat They played back-up for her and then struck out on their own. I'd also argue that her time with the Stone Ponies wasn't RR.
This song is beautiful, amazing, and iconic just like Linda!!! She really rocks it on this one!
That voice - remarkable- more now than ever. Reissue the beloved Ronstadt kiss-off to that rockin lifestyle she helped create. -"Mad Love" indeed!
I was driving, listening time Sirius, when this came on!🙂 I forgot how much I loved it and Linda's voice! 😃
Linda SUPERLATIVE!
Quite literally, this woman is the voice of my generation !! What an awesome sound !!
What a voice! What energy!
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you...I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person 😍.
SLAMMING - all in. Within months of this she was singing Pirates of Penzance. Just a marvelous pure natural voice. Rare instrument of power and beauty.
Ronstadt ruled the airwaves.
Country, western, folk, pop, blues, Broadway, rock etc....Her versatility was truly outstanding!
También canto Rancheras
Mariachi ❤
I have a cd with singing bluegrass music on it. She was incredible!
My all time favorite Linda Ronstadt song 🎧 she could sing anything in her prime. I so wish she could record again. God Bless Her 🙏🏼🌸
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you...I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person 😍.
Linda d'Punk, damn!
Great players surrounding the finest pipes. Within months she was singing Operetta. Musically mind blowing.
...a musical chameleon.
Rock and Roll Ronstadt. No sweat from an avalanche of a voice. MAD LOVE, a great album, most misunderstood. Gal just wanted to wrap her voice around the best tunes - genre be damned!
gogo delux I get what you are saying -- as a fan of Linda's throughout the 70's, this departure from rock n' roll was tough to wrap my mind around at the time. But honestly, I could listen to anything this amazing woman sang.
Cool, cool song.
Linda Ronstadt could sing it all - and so she did. Great singer, fab songs, fine musicians - luv this rocker.
I 'd love to hear her sing Fuck You by Cee lo Green. So can you fantasize! Mind good, sick; bad
Damn, this is a far cry from the adult contemporary sound she did by the late 80s/early 90s. I kinda wish she would've stayed in this style for awhile longer, reminds me of Pat Benatar.
JPMcFly1985Two #FeelTheBern
Pat never ever rocks like this
Who is pat benatar?

yeah i agree. benatar...another sexy mighty powerful force of nature
Pat benetar wishes!
gorgeous & so talented.
You're a doll
Your eyes see all
And how do I make you
How do I make you
How do I make you
want to see me?
You're so young
But your feelings are deep
And how do I make you
How do I make you
How do I make you feel for me
You put your head on my pillow
And you're fast asleep
And how do I make you
How do I make you
How do I make you
Dream about me?
Ooh, ooh, baby
The world's a wall of ice
You're gonna need someone
To treat you warm
And keep you nice
I like the way you dance
The way you spin
And how do I make you
How do I make you
How do I make you
Spin for me?
You put your head on my pillow
And you're fast asleep
And how do I make you
How do I make you
How do I make you
Dream about me?
Dream about me?
Glorious pipes. Any day, any way. Linda...
Doesn't it make you sad those pipes
got sick?
Rock on with Linda! Great fun on this number from a pure natural vocalist. Even her rock and roll shouts are powerfully beautiful
Those were the good'ol days of Linda Ronstadt. She sure was a great Rock Star ⭐. I was a teenager when this song came out. Thanks Linda Ronstadt. She Rocks.
La verdad ésta música vale la pena ponerla a todo volumen en tu casa o mejor aún en tu carro por la carretera con unos buenos lentes de sol 😎
Her "Dream about me!" towards the end was intense! Linda rocks!
Vitreous Lamella I agree...she let it go! That's some real emotion there!
tore it up!
Han pasado mas de cuarenta años de esa canción, pero la escucho como si fuera cuando estaba en plena moda y era un éxito en las radio emisoras ochenteras de Lima.

Atemporal...
Un clásico
Has tenido una buena vida. Esas épocas me hubiera encantado vivirlas, más rock menos badbunny.
Un temon
Never get tired of that amazing voice!
That was a freakin' live take! Impressive.
When she's best, imo.
I love you Linda Ronstadt
Play it loud. Put it in a film. A Great blast from a girl with powerful pipes and a songwriters dream come true. Super band.
Always fascinating to watch 😙
One of my Favorites from Linda Ronstadt. I was A Senior in High School when it came out in 1980.
Hasta q por fin encontré esta canción.
My favorite track of all time. I remember hearing How Do I Make You on the radio for the first time. I had just turned 17 and I felt like the Mad Love album was a birthday gift just for me! Linda- can't get any better!
The greatest, most diverse female vocalist of her genetation.
One of those recordings where the drummer deserves extra pay for having to work his ass off. Great stuff!
I played the hell out of my cassette copy of this album back in 1980. I always assumed that drummer Russ Kunkel must have been hospitalized after finishing that outro.
I remember when this came out. Punk Rock was just starting to become mainstream and Linda was savvy enough to catch the wave and totally change her public image. The best Ronstadt song as far as I am concerned.
This song is very hard I'm telling you. Switching from chest to head tone is the most challenging part. fudge, Linda how did you make that easy???? LOVE YOU
Aaaaaa... Linda was so gorgeous and such a fantastic singer. I remember this album. Mad love. I remember the summer of its release. I was in my early teens and my girlfriend and I used to listen to this song on the radio. That was a great summer and this fantastic album was part of that summer
Lovely to have good memories.
Bet your girlfriend remembers, too!
@@lnl3237 I’ve meant to thank you for your Ronstadt playlist since seeing your comments on several of her videos here. And props to you as a hair stylist...your time spent with her offstage had to have been totally outta sight !
@@jackrambler3262 Jack, such a lovely comment, but I think you thanked the wrong person. Wish I were that person who had helped to style Linda Ronstadt's hair! Might be a woman named Genevieve Schorr. She was a stylist of Ms. Ronstadt's who has commented on CZcams. Double check!
@@lnl3237 she was my first love. I like the think she remembers me. I expect she does. Didn't we all have that first summer love. The one we never truly forget
With Russ Kunkel, one of the most underrated drummers of all time and Wendy Waldman on back up vocals
+Scott Murphy And don't forget Wendy Waldman on back up vocals, Man I have not heard about her in ages!
+Steve Hammond Wendy is a great talent, but she looks so out of place here.
@@stevehammond9156 Nicolette Larson sings backup on the recorded version.
As much I love the 70's Linda with her long hair and ballads, she looks great here and this is a rocking song.
Such a pure voice, she could sing the phone book!
So many years and still sounds great! Linda you're the Best.
¡¡¡ MUCHAS FELICIDADES LINDA !!! TE QUEREMOS DESDE MADRID ( Spain)
What an energy???? beautiful voice.....& song....
One of my fave songs of all time! Love it!
me too i've always wanted to sing it - i couldn't hit those high notes at end like she does!
Wonder how she's doing now. Last I heard she was suffering from a progressive nerve disorder. Prayers for Mrs Ronstadt
This is live performance, as are all the Mad Love videos. Pretty damn good.
What a Beatty plus so
much talent. ,,,so grateful she shared
Crazy talented.
fantastic track, we love you Linda xxxxx
This track powers! Loved it the first I heard it all those years ago! Ms Ronstadt deserves her place in Rock n Roll!
Linda out-blondied Blondie with this album. And I was always a big Debbie Harry / Blondie fan since college in the late 70s.
Another great live version.........they all really get faster and faster as the song goes on. Good job.
Linda Ronstadt at her best she is rock and roll
Wow, what a great song. I wish she would have continued through the '80s with her Rock, Country Rock, Pop sound
This song is another one I heard driving around on "80's on 8" that I had forgotten about but now can't get out of my head...
I Love Linda & this song. It came out the same year I graduated high school - 1980.
Yesterday was Kinda Ronstadt's 76th birthday! Happy Birthday, Linda!! 🎂
I meant Linda!
Absolutely love this song. Linda Ronstadt was magnificent. Everything about this is fantastic
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you...I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person 😍.
@@lindaronstadt3938 I can't even fathom the idea that Linda Ronstadt herself would actually respond to me but just incase I will say this. Miss Ronstadt 's music has been a defining aspect of my life. I grew up having a mad crush on her but the really important thing is that my childhood/teen fantasy/dream was to be in her band. That dream started my journey. I did indeed become a professional songwriter/musician. Linda Ronstadt was and is the best damn single in the history of popular music. If I had the chance I would thank her for the incredible gift she gave me and the world. If your really miss Ronstadt then...I love you I respect you and...well Thank you so very much for shaping my life.
@@lindaronstadt3938 how do I make you ,... write me a note?. I am even a greater fan of yours than Rick😀
Your interpretations are fantastic! Thank you so much for such a vital injection of energy. My activated brain cells thank you as well, every single one of them
I love you Linda Ronstadt. Hope you are doing fine right now.
Amazing. We owe her far more respect. Don't worry she doesn't give a damn. We do - luv her.
You're so right. She respected her audiences, but she really sang for herself and the joy of singing great songs with great musicians and fellow artists.
Absolutely love this tune. Great dqnce tune
One of my favorite Ronstadt songs.
Man oh man could she belt out a tune. Don't over think it - just a great freaking singer!
Before you go to bed, listen to the hardest rocking song Linda Ronstadt ever recorded - this all the way LIVE version kicks azz - Linda's vocals are full-throttle and Russ Kunkel's drumming is pedal-to-the-metal - the band goes faster & faster as the track picks up speed, rushing toward its climax... too bad most everyone misunderstood her underrated 1980 Mad Love "new wave" album... a keeper.
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you...I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person 😍.
El primer tema de Linda que escuché en mi discman 👌🏻
I guess this is for those who think Linda can't rock. ✌
she could sing anything...well!!
Rock on.
Harry C Full out rockin' Linda. Ah yes I remember it well.
Yeah Linda Rondstadt! What a song. You Rock gorgeous Linda, so filled with energy! Superb, love you Linda.
What's especially good about it is that it's a live performance video. Nicely done!
Coooooooooool ! 2019 , from Japan
Wow que recuerdos inolvidables aquellos años maravillosos excelente Tema 😢💖
Fab - when she felt like rocking. Grand pipes.
Beautiful woman, and voice to match.
So beautiful!!! And with so good musicians!
Linda Ronstadt, best of all time. A true Classic. She Rocks.
Almost forgot about this one...awesome song.

My brother tried to say LR was country because of some of the covers she did, Linda was and always will be rock and roll to me.
She was country platinum, light opera platinum, Mexican ranchero and huapsngo platinum. Oh, did a little rock in her youth....
My god she is a class act .
so good
To the drummer: That is one excellent Skullet, Sir
eres grandiosa, gracias por la musica que nos regalaste , gracias por existir , te queremos , saludos Linda Ronstadt
This is her best for me
I completely forgot about this great song and wow does it ever bring back wonderful memories! I will always love you,Linda!💪😎
This was actually the first hit by Billy Steinberg, co-writer of Madonna's "Like a Virgin," Heart's "Alone," Whitney Houston's "So Emotional," the Bangles "Eternal Flame," Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" and "I Drove All Night," and the Pretenders' "I'll Stand by You," all with Tom Kelly. Afterwards, he went on to a long career in the same dance-pop circles he started in, churning out numbers like JoJo's "Too Little, Too Late" and Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break" in the last decade alone.

Linda could spot a good song writer
I love this singer…It’s spectacular.
*The year I was born; that's fucking rad!! Happy ROCKTOBER !!!*
