- Walking Tour of Bar Harbor and Bar Island Sand Bar Hike. The final town to showcase on MDI. Join me as I show you around Bar Harbor, Maine. The tour begins in the heart of the town at the Village Green. A great meeting spot for all visiting the town. Then head down main street and cottage. Pop into the oldest book store in Maine, Sherman's Book Store. Enjoy some music at Agamont Park. Then head down to the Bar Island sand bar trail. Make sure you get there at low tide! We finish off with a beer at The Barnacle Oyster Bar, a calm walk along the Shore Path and a glass of wine and Shrimp and Lobster Cocktail at the Legendary Terrace Grille at the historic Bar Harbor Inn.

Thank You, Wow, this is exactly what we did today, and you were so Spot ON! Loved the Sand Bar Trail followed by the Shore Path, and yes, we ended up at the Terrace grill at Bar Harbor Inn for a late lunch and drinks I encourage folks to get out of downtown Bar Harbor, parking is 'challenging', it is incredibly crowded, parking is 'challenging' then add in all the folks getting off of cruise ships for their excursions, A lot of fog today and heard the 'foghorns' repeated the entire time, pretty cool.
I'm glad you had a good time here in Bar Harbor. Yeah this time of the year is Cruise Ship season and it can get a little nuts with the amount of people in town during the day. Getting out in the off the beaten track trails is always the best.

Interesting info. I know about Samuel Adams beer but never heard of Bar Harbor. A bit crazy that some cars try to cross from Bar Island even though it's probably obvious that it's going to get flooded. People eh? That lobster and shrimp cocktail looks really yum! I do hope you do a food tour next time.

I'm a sucker for ruins too! It's fascinating to imagine what buildings were like in their prime.

I remember going to Bar Harbor when I was about 12 with my parents. So... a long long time ago. Great tips about the low and high tide to get over and back from the island, I never knew that was how it got the name. my hubby and I would love the Barnacle for beer and whiskey. And I would certainly go for that lobster! Great tour.
Thanks. It probably hasn't changed too much since you were here. Maybe different restaurants and a heck of a lot more tourists. The complexion of the town is probably the same though.

Great video! Love Bar Harbor the most (out of any other place in Maine). Favorite place is sitting out at the Terrace Restaurant also. Had a great time at the Bar Harbor Inn.

Wow just missed you! Wife and were there October 8-12! Great video! There are a few things we didn’t get to do, walking on the sandbar was one! Hope to come back maybe in 2023. We stayed at the Kimball Terrace Inn at Northeast Harbor. Very nice place and reasonable! I have a video of Cadillac Mountain check it out!
Definitely will check it out. Bummer we missed each other. I was actually still on Island Oct 8-12. I work up here during the Summer.
The weather here today is not very inviting to go for a walk- so walking with you through Bar Harbor was a lovely alternative. Your personalized mask looked awesome. I know that might sound funny, but some masks just are AWEFUL. Yours has style. Plenty of people out on the sandbar/beach. The variety of areas covered in the video made the walk fun and interesting. Beach, woodlands, footpaths, township. Lovely mixture and giving a good overal picture of the area. Nice watch, thank you. 🙏🇳🇿 🙋🇳🇱

Great information... Eden, here we come... won't be getting lost on the Island! and ummm; I'll have that lobster & shrimp, with a view please!!!! Awesome tour! any comment regarding visiting in June; please let me know!
If you go to the Terrace Grille say hi to Becca, Kim and Jillena if they are there working. June is a good time to go since the major crowds haven't yet started. The only thing I would mention bringing, is a rain jacket and/or umbrella. June can tend to be wet. Last June actually wasn't too bad only about 7 or 8 days of rain, but it's sporadic.

Truly appreciate the advice... looks like my rain jacket that I purchased for our trip to the other coast (Canon Beach, Oregon) last Spring will have another use! We don't mind; and hopefully the sun will shine, too! Why Spring? Because hotel prices are unreachable for us in the summer.
Hey man! Love the energy, and the detail you bring to describing where you are. It's funny you said that about ruins, I just (today) finished a new video that centers around ruins and a sunken city in the Philippines, so that's very much on my mind. Wild too about the cars getting stuck on the bar. Interesting choice about what's your time worth...$50 or 9 hours sitting around? Take it easy on the shrimp man! Going to take a gander around your channel, lots of inspiration here!

wow! Bar Harbor looks so lovely! I'm from the northeast originally and have never heard of Bar Harbor - next time i'm home visiting my family I'll definitely need to check this out. What a gorgeous little town! Thanks for showing us around
It is amazing. A bit out of the way so I can see why some Northeasterners haven't heard of it. More people are familiar with Acadia. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
What a nice tour of the island. I would totally forget about tides! One of the advantages of lake living as it not something we ever have to worry about!
Lol I'm sure. And Maine Tide's are notorious for their diversity of depth. Also there are days and times in the year where your low tides are early morning and after dark so doing the bar Island walk isn't always feasible everyday.

It is a nuisance if you want to explore the Island to its fullest. I always tell people take it in 2 day strides.

Definitely more of a tourist destination nowadays. Still a big fishing port but, it's become the biggest tourist destination in Maine.
That’s a very interesting history of Bar Harbor and it looks like a great to visit and it reminds me of some of the seaside resort towns on the West Coast. That’s pretty cool about the sand bar and being able to walk across the harbor and those old ruins looked interesting. The end of the video showed you having a beer but the question is did you have a Sam Adams?

I've done a couple of videos traveling through NH but, haven't fully explored it. I did a video featuring Madame Sherri Forest and a NE food tour that started in Portsmouth. At least since I started the channel. I've explored the White Mountains in the past before I began the channel.
