  • Hi guys, this is Structures Explained and in this video we will be talking about Torsion as a force and how it acts.
First we look at some daily life instances where we apply torsion and then the structural elements of a building where torsion force acts. Mainly we talk about a concrete beam in torsion and ways to reinforce the beam to resist the twisting moments.
We also talk about the stress distribution in the cross section of concrete beam when acted by torsional forces and cracks produced due to it.
Lastly we talk about torsion in building when earthquake forces act in it.

    Excellent.
In some buildings cantelever slabs are provided from bottom of beam.
These beams are not supported by strong columns.
Can you explain the behaviour if such beams
