this is normally my first upgrade when I buy a used car. in fact, I base my purchase on how easy it'll be to install a new head unit. it really modernizes the vehicle. I hate that many modern cars make it so difficult to upgrade the head unit. planned obsolescence.
Mario, thank you very much for your recognition of our product. We will continue to improve this product and promise to do better🥂 and the video you made is so effective, it's cool!!
Good job with the install and the video. I have a 2005 Boxster S with the Bose system. The cd unit has quit working and my display works when it feels like working. I dont have Navigation, rear camera, or a cd changer. I have been dreading replacing the stereo, so your video has given me a boost toward tackling the job. I also plan on installing the rear facing camera. Thanks for the video!
Congrats Mario, I didn't realise you bought the Cayman. But I do have issues with you buying a Chinese head unit...(was it planned). Living in the Southern Hemisphere where we drive on the "right" side of the road (that being the left 😂) It would feel awkward changing gears... Will now have to go through your channel to listen to what reason you gave to buy the Cayman. One of the cars I considered before buying my Quattroporte.

Thank you for the tip with the bleu and the Red/black wire on the connector. We had the same problem. We have also find a setting to disable the beeping while pressing a button. We found also two orange fiber cables. I don’t known what the purphose is of those. Do you?
Just ordered one for mine as well. Black one as the trim in my .2 is black. Hope I can make it work as I am not as skilled as you are. Fingers crossed 🍀
PCCM+ is three or four times the price, so I think it depends on the car, its value, and the owner's budget. Generally speaking, I think PCCM+ looks better, and should guarantee no loss of functionality, but this looks good and the price is right. The price differential may be slightly reduced if one needs a professional installer, because a Porsche dealer or specialist may bundle the cost of installation, which may make PCCM+ a little more competitive. As far as the beep, I'm sure that can be turned on and off, just like on a mobile phone, according to customer preference. Personally, I'd probably spend the extra for PCCM+ in a 911 that effectively costs twice as much. But these aftermarket head units look pretty good in the 997/987 console design. However, IMO, they look far less good in the 996/986. But, PCCM+ is prohibitive for all but the most mint low-mileage 986s. It obviously doesn't make sense to put a $2000 PCCM+ in a Boxster that cost $4000, even a Boxster/Cayman that cost $10,000. And, of course, there is no PCCM+ for the ..7.2 cars, and probably won't be for another couple of years.
You need to apply 12v to the red/black wire on the car's ISO connector (pin 2 of the connector). I did this by connecting it to the blue wire from the radio for the external antenna. I added a DuPont pin myself and installed it in the connector since that spot was empty anyway.
Hi. I just have mine fitted but I ve got no bass like you. (Amplifier) Can you tell me what wire do I need to bridge? My radio it is exactly like yours, i have a cayman exactly like yours, the same colour and I am also in switzerland 😅 cheers mate

Hello, i also installed the same unit in my car with fiber optics, after installation sound becomes dostorted really early before high volumes. Oroginal unit sounded much better and louder. Now i can't listen music on high volumes because of distortion. Any advice ? My car is boxster so when top is off i can't hear music enough at all :( with old unit it sounded more than enough...
Check out this forum thread. It is very long but you will most likely find a solution to your problem: www.planet-9.com/threads/diy-on-installing-an-inexpensive-android-radio-headunit-to-replace-the-standard-cd30-radio-and-probably-the-pcm3.253949/
I ordered from swiss3d.ch but any local 3D-printing shop should print those easily. Just make sure they are printed in ABS or ASA as those materials can withstand the high temperatures in cars. By the way, I designed an improved version of the brackets (thicker and sloped) as in my car the radio would remain too loose: makerworld.com/en/models/427592
Hi, selbes Problem bei mir, hast du schon eine Lösung? Also es hört sich hier so raus, als ob vom Stecker mit dem schwarz roten Kabel ein geschaltenes plus ran muss, korrekt?
The PCCM Plus is ~CHF 1600, this was 400 (I bought the highest spec one with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage). Also this runs a proper Android 10 where you can install whatever apps you like (like CZcams). The PCCM Plus is a modified Android 6 that does not allow any apps to be installed (which is just as well since it's so out of date most current apps won't run anyway). The PCCM is really just for using Carplay or Android Auto. The Chinese unit can do it as well but offers way more possibilities. Also, I think the Chinese unit looks better and has a slightly bigger screen at 8" vs. 7" on the PCCM+.

Already had the radio in my shopping cart before I went to look at the car and ordered it the day after purchase.

Cayman vs. Quattroporte - practically the same car. 🤣 Nonetheless, the Quattroporte is a car I regularly look up in the classifieds.

that orange fiber optic cable was part of the Dension kit
Pretty decent for a head unit with modern functionality that integrates well into the car's interior, right?
no cassette deck? i'll pass... 😽
It looks stock and that's a big bonus along with functionality.

Hello, can you exactly ecplain how the amplifier can work. I think a lot of people have the problem. Would be great😊

If it works, its a Win! Keep us posted, as the "proof" is always in the pudding. Cheers!

Great video, seriously considering buying one. Who did you buy the brackets from? The link shows the files. Thanks.

May I ask, why not PCCM Plus?

Mario you sacrificed production value for this video...filmed from afar...only pancake making end could have made it better. :)
I could at least have fixed the focus. But this whole thing took me 5 hours - at some point I just wanted to be done for the day.
that is amluc head unit
