I got the i9 2080 super 1080p 300hz model and it's a beast! The i9 is a little hot but powerfull. I tame it with Throttlestop and quiet mode the fans barely spin and still get 110-130 fps in warzone verdansk and constant 150-165 in rebirth all high settings. The new X models are looking pretty neat too.

Love the video! I got this laptop when it first came out and spent a whopping $2361 and I didnât even get it all decked out either. It definitely is a beauty but I 100% agree that the fans are waaaay too loud and the battery life is also pretty awful, so I always keep it plugged it.

Thank you Lucromis! Yeah 300hz is insane for a laptop! I wonder what the science is when factoring in what our eye can even notice anymore. 300fps is certainly past that limit, but still pretty awesome to be able to achieve that.

I agree with everything you said. I'm the opposite side of the spectrum. I have the 1080 and would love to see the 4k. on smaller screen's it's sometimes harder to see. It's been a pretty good machine. Dells buggy software is my only issue
I feel like the bugs that I've experienced were more Microsoft Windows issues rather than Dell issues.

@@JustinTechTips although Iâm starting to feel I may have made a mistake getting the 300hz. Some believe the 144hz is a better option over the 300hz as you can get a lot more battery life during âlighter useâ. Only time will tell.
@@CURTI5P yeah that's a good point too. I would take either of those over the 4k model, but honestly probably not a big enough difference between the 300hz and 144hz in battery life to make a huge difference between those two versions

I bout the m17 300hz for gaming and I am wondering did you ever buy the 300z as I am debating on getting the 4k and I am wondering if you bought the 300hz now and can compare which one is better?
No I kept the computer past the return window so I couldnât get the 300hz one. I donât think 4K on a laptop screen is worth it honestly. When I change my resolution down to 1080, I have to put my face inches from the screen to really notice the difference. 1080p pixels are already so small on a laptop screen, 4K is overkill in my opinion. Youâll notice the difference between 300hz and 60hz before youâll notice the difference between 4K and 1080p on such a small screen. 4K is best for large TVs. Thatâs when you truly get the benefit of such a high resolution.

Yes I think itâs a good investment and it will definitely last you 4 years. My last Alienware never died on me after 5 years. I just wanted an upgrade after that amount of time. After 3 years with my last one I did need a new battery though which wasnât too expensive

Hey Zera, great question! All you have to do is hit "Fn+F12"
Nice laptop, just need to undervolt it to 90% and you will see a significant decrease in temp and it doesn't effect the performance at all. I'm hitting max temps on mine of 76 degrees. I also use a cooling pad.

@@JustinTechTips No program, go to power options, then change plan settings, change advanced power settings, processor power management, maximum processor state. You will see plugged in and battery. Change them till you hit the temps you want. I started with 80% and after a few adjustments found that 90% was the sweet spot for my temps staying under 80 degrees. when you first click on it you will see there preset at 100%. I also adjusted my fan speeds to temp ratio and made my own profile as the presets dont push enough air to keep it cool enough. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Please follow and subscribe as ill do the same to your channel. I also have the R11 Aurora that I did fan upgrades on and fixed the high temps.
Note; Undervolting does not harm your laptop or affect it in anyway. Overvolting can harmful if not done right.
I undervolted using throttlestop. Also turn off the CPU boost, and uninstall Alien OC Control (for battery). I now get around 5 hours for the battery. I also used throttlestop and directions to change from 300hz to 60hz when on battery. I bought the IETS 300gt cooling pad too, little loud but 12-15 degrees difference. Wasnât even hitting 80 degrees

Yo bro, I'm thinking of getting a M15 R4 GTX 3070 but I'm kinda confused with the colour. I've been researching and some are telling that the Lunar White is a bad colour that easily gets smudged and gets "yellowing". I really like Lunar white but now I'm confused and thinking about the Dark side colour. Any comments about the whiteness of your laptop?
I have not had any discoloration with my Lunar Light m17 R3 after 9 months with it. You might go with the newer m15 R5 that was just released not too long ago.

Exactly 1 year later. Keyboard issues. Spacebar key presses with no input. No spills or anything and it doesnt run hot. After firmware updates and no fixes, had to buy an external keyboard. Cant replace one key. Have to replace the whole thing.

Overall, the Alienware m17 R3 is a very great laptop with amazing design (That even I like ;).) The one thing that I really appreciate is that the laptop has to have Nvidia Advance Optimus and Tobi eye tracking for windows hello facial recognition. I just wish that the merged all of that specs into the computer, but otherwise I would still rather go for the 4k just because it has windows hello.
Yeah that's a good point JTR. Windows hello is great! It actually didn't have that when I first bought it surprisingly. Every computer with tobii should have that. But with a software update I finally got it

I never had a white laptops and honestly not a fan but I like this one.I also had a razer blade pro 17 with the 2080 max q for 1200 .Sold that though. The razer was about same thermal wise . It would get to 100 if you set the cpu to high performance.

I push my fans pretty hard with all the 4K editing and rendering I do. So I would say thatâs about normal dust build up over 8 months

I had one ordered on dell outlet for 13 percent off. Dell cancelled my order without notice. By the time I could reorder the 13 percent off Dell was gone. I ended up nit getting it. Got a dell g7 7700 on sale from best buy instead. The g7 you can remove the ram and wifi.Plus it has a bigger battery.Plus I got the 300hz monitor. Only paid 1299 at best buy. Added a 2 TB and 1tb hard drive. Plus I like the fact that it doesn't look like a gaming laptop besides the front led stripe which you can turn off.

Just purchased an Alienware m17 R4. It has the FHD 144Hz screen, which I'm perfectly happy with because it comes with a MUX switch so I can get some reasonable battery life when just fooling around on the internet. I also only have 16GB of RAM but the sale that I jumped on did not allow me to up the configuration's RAM. (So sad, but for the price I paid I was OK with it.) Before tax, with the i7-10870H, 3070 GPU, 16GB RAM, 516GB SSD, 144Hz FHD Display with G-SYNC, Dark Side of the Moon, and all-key RGB, I paid only $1,567.00 USD. I think I got a heck of a deal, even though I wish I had 32GB of RAM.

What I wish was that the cooling system works better and quiter, at night the noisy fans can be confused as it is raining đ§đ€Łđ€Ł,
I like the design aesthetic of Alienware and the solidarity of the bodywork,
If Alienware can manage to cool down the temperature below 85 degrees Celsius, the system can pretty sure no throttle and maintain stability of overall performance
What I hate about the laptop is the keyboard, the page-up and page-down key between the arrow-up key, this is pretty annoying

What kind of fps are you getting at 4K? 4K definitely looks pretty good with your face pretty close to the screen but from a foot or two away from the screen I didn't notice a huge difference. Oh nice you got the 3080! Jealous!đ
@@JustinTechTips for now i only play cyberpunk, and far cry new dawn.. But in 4 k its smooth at ultra settings. I would be at 62/63 fos on cyberpunk with everything at max..
. I overclocked the gpu and undervolted the cpu to get the fan noises down a little.. Its true that 4 k on a 17 inch is kind of too much.. But so is 360 fps on a 1080p.. i love the colors of a 4 k screen..
And since i am getting a new xr65aaj9 sony oled 120 herz screem i think it will be dope...

@@JustinTechTips just to let you know that we can not get the keyboard with the light per key, in french, german or other keyboard layout.. We can only get the French 4 zone keyboard and a US per key, or US cherry keyboard.. I do not understand why its so hard to get foreign keyboard layout for Alienware...

i had 80 FPS in all AAA titles games. undervolt GPU and CPU and lower Turbo ratio limits to 36 on all cores.

Yup 4k is definitely not worth it. Especially on a screen that small. Your better off getting a 144hz or 300hz. Even the jump from 60hz to 144hz is a BIG difference in the smoothness and responsiveness of the screen.300 Hz is even better.

It has the 10th gen I9 processor, RTX 2080 super, 32GB RAM, total of 1.5 TB hard drives, per key RGB keyboard, and the 300hz FHD screen for $2,239.99. I think it's a great deal. yeah Steam is the best online platform that has the most games but there are others as well depending on the game you want to play
This computer was gifted to me but I DO NOT love it. Have had so many problems, even resorting to Dell replacing keyboard, and don't get me started on that whole fiasco. And it's definitely not portable - not even for lounging on your sofa/bed with, especially with battery running down in less than an hour.
yeah the battery is definitely really bad. Mine is always plugged in even when on the couch. But I do a lot of heavy processor work so I never want to use it in battery mode.
Share your sentiments when it comes to having issues with the Alienware brand of laptops. I will say I own a Alienware desktop Aswell which I havenât had any issues with, works great and itâs the older aurora model with a 1070 in it. But I too have had nothing but issues with my Alienware 13 r3 model. Granted this is a completely different model than the one you guys have, however the issues are the same when it comes to Alienware/dell support. Updating mine has been a nightmare when I first got it out of the box. Then there has been an issue where if I was using it at home while on my houses WiFi as opposed to hardwired, any time I would try to update any game on say steam, it would knock out my internet connection in the whole house. This was ONLY when using the laptop and trying to update or install games. I contacted dell to no avail. Have also had a host of other problems with the laptop which Iâm assuming the quality control isnât there based on what Iâve read of other peopleâs experiences :/
If you think thatâs not portable you should see my m18x r2 I had then youâll really appreciate the portability of the 17 r3 lol.

I couldn't get the temps down even with a cooling pad. Temps reach 100°C while gaming easily and stay there.
@@Alcatraz1205 yup mine too . I undervolted mine and made a custom fan profile which helped. Still gets hot but it doesn't stay at 100.Mostly low to mid 90s.Sometimes lower.

Sometimes it crashes when editing heavy layered 4K videos but thatâs to be expected on a laptop thatâs getting pushed that hard

If your going to get an Alienware laptop don't ever order from the Dell website, long story short, their customer service is absolutely atrocious and they needlessly make the whole purchasing experience a nightmare.
