I love to geek out about the physics of sound. This channel focuses on the growing opportunity for live sound engineers to improve their confidence and consistency through the understanding of the principles of sound system design and optimization. My goal is to make this channel upfront and honest about my success and failure, so you can learn from both.
I am always open to suggestions and feedback so please comment on this video or contact me through my site.
Cool video and a neat approach. I'm a home theater nerd and I use things like Dirac and Audyssey to help integrate my subwoofers and main speakers. Dirac Live Bass Control is a minimum-phase room correction system and I have gotten better results with that. When I would do it manually, I'd use a MiniDSP and generally the distance difference from the main listening position of the rear to the front subwoofers was what was needed. Like if the rear subs were 6ft away and the front were 10ft away, adding in that 4ft of delay would help integrate the rear subs before adding global EQ.
Nice!
Great !
What location are you measuring both spots from? FOH or a random spot on the audience or somewhere else?
hey mrpres, I'm measuring both spots from the acoustic crossover point. A lot of times you can find it by walking around until you find the spot where you can hear both sources are the same level. Anywhere where we have matched level, we should be matched in time. I've actually been working on something to help answer this question. Tell me what you think. Which do you prefer:

@@nathanlivelyThanks for the reply, this video makes way more sense now! I much prefer the roadmap, I feel like there's some context I'm missing with he WxDxH photo
@@mrpres17 cool. You prefer more like a step by step guide. Youâre making me wonder if it would be better, in SubAligner, to have the first step be âSub alignment or full-range?â or âSpectral or Spatial alignment?â Instead of making people remember what 1:1 means. What do you think?
