    Pulling the wheel pants off and sizing up the wheels made this plane a whole lot more fun for me to fly of grass runways

    Adam, great review, warts and all. Much appreciate your candor since most "reviews" on CZcams are promos, not reviews. Your insight into the fixes was helpful. Your mention of Michael Kline was very respectful as well. All the best to you and Heidi.

    Great review Adam! Very thorough and detailed and good catch with the pushrod supports. I neglected to mention it but I added a piece of foam in the exact location you did for my rudder pushrod. Surprisingly my elevator pushrod did not flex at all so I haven’t added a support to it yet. Thank you again for the shout out and I appreciate your comments. Your reviews are the best in the business with useful informative content and flight demonstrations. Keep up the great work.

      Michael thanks very much man...that means a ton coming from you! You flew the heck out of it for sure. Interesting on the elevator pushrod. Thankfully a very easy fix.

    they were so close to nailing it on the head with this one. but the mismatched white cowl kills it for me. still cool, but from a distance. good advice Adam, stalls happen at any speed like you said, as well as any attitude

    Alternative fix for the rod flex: Take a cable tie/zip tie, wrap round the push rod, insert it into itself and pull till the circle left is about twice the diameter of the push rod. Cut off most of the tail, in a point shape, leaving about an inch 'tail' behind. Poke this tail into the fuselage foam (don't have enough tail that you go through to the outside!), hold in place, power up and check the control movement/rod flex. If all is good, wick a few drops of thin CA down the tail and leave to set. End result is a couple of plastic, circular retentions which are super cheap, easy, neat and effective. It's a technique I learnt from a forum for the Twisted Hobbys Crack Turbo Beaver which was originally supplied with control rods that were too thin. Great review again Adam

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Před 16 dny +1

      Yep, thought about that. That is one of the tips we included in our "Tips for every RC Pilot" video to keep loose wires sorted. The pushrods on this create a good bit of pressure when they flex (or try to) as the servo is pushing them, so I though better of it...might pull the zip tie out of the foam. It is a great idea with the super thin carbon pushrods on a flat foamie.

      I think it is because the servos are close to the only place to fix it. Easy fix though...

    Nice! Along with the other great features, it's nice to see that they went with a scale-dia prop instead of the typical "space-saver-spare" sized prop on many electrics!

    A very nice review. I appreciate how you covered the issue with the elevator / rudder push rods being able to flex. There are a lot of 'little' things like that and the spinner / propeller clearance that a modeler might improve upon to have a better aircraft. Thanks for sharing.

    Such a great presentation Adam & Heidi, well done. Love the HRB batteries. Looks good enough to fit a camera in the cockpit.
    I had a similar problem with servo wires & threaded the wire thru a small shrink tube then glued to the foam. I did a similar fix in the UMX Twin Otter nose area where the steering wire comes thru to the nose wheel & was interfering when the battery was inserted. The small ‘feeder’ tube glued in & wire threaded thru fixed the problem.
    I am giving you both 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    Great review Adam. But that pushrod flex I never seen as bad as that. To bad the rear section isn't screw in and it should really come with floats. I still fly my HK TL2000, a very similar plane in size and look and fantastic on floats.

Any chance on some shenanigans coming our way. It's been a while. I will try to think of something. It is float plane season. Thanks buddy.

      @ModelAV8RChannel in your opinion Adam what batteries do you think are the best out there?

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Před 22 dny

      Honestly, I'm not sure. I have a bunch I'm testing over time. Spektrum, Pulse, HRB, Zeee, Ovonic, and if they ever get them back in stock I'll try SMC. You have to be careful about "advice" on line about batteries. People will see tests on forums where they are killing the batteries with extreme tests in seconds/minutes and they will repeat those results as if that is gospel. So many people repeat other peoples talking points. SMC is a good example. So many people say "they are the best" that don't even have any of them...or have a few, but they have less than 50 cycles on them. They are brand new. How do they know? Every brand new battery performs well. SMC may very well be the best/one of the best, but simply having a few isn't proof of that. I have a bunch of batteries...most with 50 to 100 cycles, so none at or near failure yet. I simply charge them up, use them normally, then storage charge them. Once I see how many cycles (charges/discharges) I get out of all those brands, I'll divide that by what they cost me. That will give me a "per flight cost". If that figure doesn't offend me, they are good. If it does, I won't get any more of that kind of pack. Everybody's results may differ, depends on how they store them, charge them, and what and how they fly with them. One thing is for sure, having new batteries that work well doesn't mean they are the best ever, lol. A bunch of people repeating the same talking points that haven't really tested them doesn't either. Right now all I know for sure is I've killed some HRB's running them hard in EDF's, and everything else (so far) is working great.

    Adam, I have a question as far which Motor, ESC Would you purchase for the Phoenix Edge 540 65" wing span? I know as far as I'm concerned you are the most knowledgeable about Electric planes I seen on you Tube, hands down! Also I would be using Specktrum 6S Lipo's 5000mAh battery's in this plane. They say you can use a Nitro DE20 Engine in it, but I want to go Electric. Thank you in advance Adam!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Před 19 dny +1

      Hey man, I'd use the power system I recently put in my Hangar 9 Christen Eagle. Pulls like a freight train. I use a 5000 6s as well with it and Xoar 16x8e prop. The ESC has a fan on it so it stays cool even in our hot humid Georgia WX. Will pull a 10lb plane nicely, and if you are a Spektrum flyer you get all the telemetry and programming capability. @@ModelAV8RChannel Adam, thank you getting back to me so quickly! I order this plane so I yet know what the bottom of the air frame looks like. One of questions I have is being I'm guessing most pilots would power this plane with a nitro engine, and wanted to know if I have to make some vent holes in the bottom for cooling the Li-Po? I going be mounting the 100Amp ESC on the fire wall and like you stated it fan cooled. As far the prop you used Xoar 16X8e where do you buy them? I never heard of that brand yet. I only know of APC props, and Master air Screw.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  Před 18 dny +1

      Yep, probably a good idea to cut some vent holes...doesn't take much. You can get Xoar props on Amazon, at Extreme Flight RC, and at Justmodelprops. APC or Master Airscrew electric props work fine, I just prefer Xoar. They come pre-balanced and have less flex.
