Great videos! I am retiring this year after over 13 years of teaching and am going to be a substitute teacher. Teaching these days is SO MUCH HARDER than it used to be. The students are tough and I was working 24/7 doing what was expected of me (grading, data research and inputting into documents, weekly newsletters to parents, lesson planning, IEP updates to resource teachers, plus many more). Teaching is way more than just teaching....it is working after school and on weekends to keep up with all of the extras that most new teachers never get to experience until they actually start teaching and then they are overwhelmed and then many of them don't stay.

It’s definitely a lot, but it’s a rewarding career that I’m not ready to say goodbye to. I believe I’ll find the right position, school, etc. in His timing 💕 Congrats on retiring.

Do you mind sharing some of your struggles as a first year teacher that made you want to quit for those of us who are thinking about becoming a teacher? I keep seeing so many of these videos where first year teachers are quitting but no one is really explaining the real reasons behind the sudden change of being happy to be a first year teacher to the next year they are leaving the profession.

New teachers need a lot of support. I’ll just say that. I did plan on filming a video, but now that I’m subbing I’m not sure it’s the right thing to do. I just want to move forward ❤️
