    DISNEY LAUNDRY TIP- We are a family of 5 and usually stay 9-10 days in Disney and because of that we usually do laundry while we are there! We bring a laundry bag, detergent pods, and fabric softener sheets, all easy to travel with. We also make a room request to be near the laundry room. Every other day or 2 I get up about 6, run down to the laundry room start the loads, go back to the room shower, get the hubby up when I get out, he then runs down swaps loads to the dryer, then he showers, we get the kids up and then at some point go grab the dry clothes and while our kiddos are getting ready we fold the clothes, which loads are so small it doesn't take long and pop them back in the suitcase and pull out what might need to be reworn. We are then ready to hit the parks when they open! Best part when we get home we just have one small bag of laundry from the last day to wash and the rest just gets put away straight from the suitcase! It really doesn't intrude much at all on our enjoyment of our trip!

      You sound super organized and like you have a Disney vacation down to a science. Do all Disney resorts have a laundry room because I've never seen one at Riverside.

    We don't bring a bath mat, but my family all brings flip flops and we wear them in the shower while we are showering so that our feet don't touch the bath floor or the bathroom floor when we get out. :-) I had some bad experiences in college and started wearing flip flops from then on out! Your bath mat idea is NOT weird at all. :-) - Debbie

    We take a pop up hamper and have since me and my sister were really little! Our dad takes a bigger duffel bag type suitcase that we also load with snacks and such that won’t be brought back. On the way home we load his bag with the laundry that way we have room for souvenirs in our other bags and sometimes have even managed to fold up one or two of the other bags for the drive home. We have one rule with the hamper though, everything gets folded up before it gets put in there. Sounds weird, I know. But that way it will fit in the bag much easier and we don’t have to waste time folding it all at once.

    Disney will bring you a laundry basket as many as you would like for your room. Since DVC villas has washing machines and dryers they have laundry basket. 😊 I also bring pump hand soap, so we can use that instead of the bars.

    One of the things I would add to the list, that I take with me everywhere, is Tide-To-Go. It is amazing. My daughter spilled chocolate ice cream on her white skort when we were at Hollywood Studios, and it got it out, dried quickly, and one would never know that 10 minutes before there had been an unsightly stain on her clothes. LOL, I keep it in my purse for me as well. It also works well to pre-treat stains if you have to wait a few days to do laundry.

    Something else I always pack, whether I’m flying or driving is a bottle koozie. I usually buy a bottled drink in the airport, and that way I can stick it in my carry on without it getting anything wet from condensation and it stays colder a little longer. Same benefits for theme parks and sticking a bottle of water in my backpack.

    Terrific ideas! I did Disneyland & Sea World with my young son 25 to 30 years ago. While I didn't have most of the cool gadgets and helpers you young women had, we still enjoyed our trips. I enjoy watching all these advice and "hacks" for traveling with kids videos. I smile, shake my head and think to myself how much less stuff I could have packed & and taken to and from our destinations, just "in case". I'm also happy to see that I wasn't the only mommy who planned ahead!

I don’t obviously keep it in there at the end of the trip, but it’s still helpful to keep all the dirty laundry in one location so clean and dirty don’t get mixed together by my toddlers. We’re going next year during May. Hopefully we have better weather! lol I’d love if you did a video about your general schedule. Like just a brief overview of each day: what park you went to, did you get there for rope drop/extra magic hours, how long you stayed (did you go back to the hotel for a break and then back to that park or a different park and what times), what you did if it was a down day, and if you stayed fairly close to the plans you made in advance or if things changed during the trip. We will be going with a 5.5 year old and almost 3 year old and have been once (when the oldest was 2) so I’m curious about other people’s schedules as far as how many park days and down days.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 6 lety

      I did a video similar to that here: czcams.com/video/l7ct_YZYXuA/video.html As far as going to Disney with young kids, we don't get there early! I've talked before about how we usually let the kids sleep in and get to the parks around 9-10. That way they aren't tired and we don't have to go back home for a nap. Sleeping in a bit later also helps us to stay late at the parks. Here is another video that might be useful: czcams.com/video/_uFyrwXJ_vc/video.html&index=15&list=PL2ViP1vFsZenjYNI11FFQ8BjWGp_cDcy7

    I live in spain and we drive to Disneyland Paris. It’s no where near the size as the Orlando parks so, I am going to recommend this for any theme park but especially Florida goers....a massage pillow. The one I have has 2 hard balls that rotate around and massage your back when you connect it to a chair, your calf or neck when you lay on top of it on a bed. It plugs in to the wall and warms up as you use it. This is great to use, along with aches and pains massage cream to sooth sore feet and legs at the end of the day. When we travel to Paris by plane I don’t take it because it takes up valuable luggage space but when we do a road trip there, I always pack it. Possible option for those of you that drive there.
    Also, I take kids hangers on all vacations because hotels only have adult hangers and my daughters have dresses or jackets that don’t fit on the hangers.

    Instead of wearing the bottle of water, thinking it might be a little too heavy, we are looking at buying very light weight collapsible cups which come with a hook for belts, side body purses or backpacks. They're only $5 to $9 each depending on what size. There's always places to get water around the parks.
    Were the plastic shoe covers slippery at all once they were wet?

    You can bring plastic grocery bags to use as shoe covers. My younger sister used to do this on mornings it rained before school

      We use the bathroom matt on the shower/tub floor too! We usually ask for extras when we check in, LOL.

    I am rewatching this as I gear up for my February trip. I totally get the dirty feet in the shower thing. I have such a weird fear of my bare feet touching the floor in a hotel room. Forget water parks. I can't even! Ewwww!

    I totally agree I do not let to step in showers with my bare feet only mine and it's funny when I move into a new apartment I use shower shoes for the first two weeks and then I can take my shoes off

    TAKE PONCHOS WITH YOU JUST INCASE!!!! If it rains and you don’t have one you will be miserable and even though they do sell them in the park they are $13 each and they’re not reusable and smell like chemicals. Plus they get sold out super fast so even if you are willing to pay $50 for your family to have one use only ponchos, they may be sold out by the time you get to a store to buy them.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 4 lety

      Yes, we always bring our own ponchos for those same reasons! :)

    Instead of bringing a dirty bathmat home in your luggage (that you will be putting your clean clothes in) bring a spray bottle of lysol...clean the shower and bathroom floor before you use it. I also bring Clorox wipes to clean before I allow anyone in the room. Havent come down sick on vacation since...oh and I clean the plane armrest/tray table too.
    I bring a large mesh laundry bag to hang on the hook on the bathroom door. (where everyone changes).

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 6 lety

      I wrap the bathmat in a laundry bag and put it in a separate part of the suitcase, away from clothes.

    I always take swimming shoes to the parks. Just got back from DW and took them to every park. Fortunately we only had to use them one day but the kids loved splashing in the puddles and us not yelling at them 😄.

    Hello! I love your tips! I love Disney too and honestly pulling my phone out at the parks always annoyed me!!! So I actually started and an Etsy shop called Earchantments and I sell these Mickey themed iPhone cases that come with a lanyard to solve the problem! I’d love it if you could check it out!!!

      We do have rain boots and shoes like that but I didn't want to wear those shoes/boots all day and I didn't want to pack them either. To me, it's just easier to bring small shoe covers and use them as needed.
