      I have written three parenting books. The first one was acquired by a traditional publisher.I was paid an advance but they never marketed the book and at that time I was suffering from a severe case of naivete' and ignorance. The publisher sold about 700 digital copies and some print copies but not enough to cover my advance. I decided to self publish my second book and fell many sell schemes including the costly best seller scam which earned me a best seller sticker from Amazon but no sales. I later found out that I was required to master Amazon ads. I'm still working on that. It's been almost a year. I just finished my third book and still feel ill equipped to sell books. I'm old and tired like Seinfeld's Uncle Leo. I'm fading fast and need help. Can Book Launchers help me?

      Try this. Go to the person you gave the book to after they read it and ask them to log into Amazon then to the book you gave them. Then ask them to rate it without telling you and then leave a one line comment about what they liked about it, then press the button. I did this with one book and it worked. I now will try the others.

    Whenever a business owner does a good job for me I always offer to give them a review. However i go one step further. I ask for the manager's email address and I let them see it before I put the review up on google. Sometimes it works too well. One pizzeria told me he is getting three times as many orders and he's had to take on more staff. I just love your video and I will be glad to connect with you via your website. Great tips on raising your book's visibility. I started a couple of small groups using the title of my book "Be A Thermostat: Regulate your Anger at different churches to help people manage their emotions. Helping people recognize how some deal with their emotions like thermometers, while others respond like thermostats was a powerful way to promote the message. Using my book as a teaching tool brought visibility to my message and new readers. Hope this helps.

    I really enjoy your videos, they are extremely helpful and informative. I published my first novel "Of Vital Interest" in December 2023. Writing a book has been on my Bucket List for several years. Just holding the final version in my hand brings a smile to my face, but it got even better. My book won an award as the best military book in 2023, and just recently received a very positive review from Kirkus. What I am quickly learning is that writing a book is the easy part, promoting and gaining interest in what you have written is much more difficult. Thanks so much for your videos, they are providing me a lot of information on how to grow sales and interest. Have a wonderful day.

    On a recent radio interviewI was asked why I wrote my autobiography; "The Crazy Life of a Kid From Brooklyn", along with it's revised version, "The Crazy Life of Bill". I always liked to tell stories of my adventures to friends, associates and family. Some of these stories were to illustrate a point or recount some humorous event. They were, as best that I could remember all true. During one of our dinners with some close friends and neighbors after recounting one of my adventures both of my friends simultaneously asked; why don't I write a book? My response was "OK, sure I can do that". I had accumulated various files, letters, address book and photos going back many years. Reviewing these records it was easy to reconstruct the various phases, instances, stories and people that had populated my life from early on. For the people that had an impact on my life it was easy to reconstruct incidences, lessons and events. Each stage from grammar school, high school, the University of Alabama, meeting my wife of 65+ years, the army, jobs, realizing my dream to become a corporate president by 35 years of age, going into business and developing a $55 million import-export business, losing it, a short retirement and and adapting to a new field were all easy to write about. I would look at an old address book, see a name and remember some hysterical anecdote about the person. All in all in took just a few months to self publish my memoirs on Createspace (Now Amazon) in both KDP and Print Editions. The results were good and the book has received mostly 5 star reviews, helped of course by heavy promotions including social media, u-tube, radio and magazine interviews.
    The surprise came later. I had given a few books away to friends, relatives and some business associates in the hopes that they would buy additional copies as gifts. Apparently some did, but the surprise was that businesses were buying it for their staff (and in some cases as gifts to their customers) as as a sales and ethics training tool. Since this was not the original purpose of my writing the book it did come as a complete surprise.

    Update: I had seen the 'keyword' tip on a variety of sites and it made sense ... but it looks like it may not be an accurate way to assess the keywords:

    "Rise Of The Bloodmoon" I been so scared and sat on this book for 5 years before deciding to take a chance. And if it fails, I will try again with another option, I am selling for low to start with. That way I can see how this does, Cause I have more planned in the series.

      To Erick's credit, the green edge around you is also the first thing I noticed. He is probably an editor or cinematographer like me and wanted to give you simple tips to make your videos more professional. Perhaps as a way of saying thank you for this video that you gave us.

    • @BookLaunchers
      @BookLaunchers  Před 6 lety +31

      Possibly but if that were the case he never did come back to me with tips. And the thing is ... so many people are afraid to put themselves out there on video or in print or any format because they are scared of being criticized for not being good enough so I don't want to encourage people to criticize my stuff because others could see that and be scared off. And, this video is far from professional (I was just learning green screen as you guys noted), but the content was share worthy. I'd rather that than a perfect video with nothing of value in it!
      I think you're probably quite kind and do mean to help so I thank you. People like you will help foster an environment where more people with brilliant ideas and inspiring stories will feel a little more comfortable and even brave enough to share what they have to offer even if it's not professionally polished.
      I am still not quite where i want to be with my videos, but if you check out the recent uploads we're getting better with every batch we shoot I think. Of course, something always does seem to go wrong ... lighting was off, the sound didn't quite record right ... but I make tiny improvements every time. Thanks.

    My 7 books on amazon all came out of years of research. I see so many people working for beautiful houses, lovely cars and to impress others. One lady I knew worked 3 jobs, asked me to make a door key for her, but was found dead 3 days later in her apartment next door. The first book "The Value of Complete Rest" examines the need for scheduled rest and is very controversial, It has received only 5 reviews. Your suggestions are great. I will put them into practice as soon as possible.

    Two of my books have been published. One is a collection of three sci-fi, horror shorts called “Lost Case Encounters” and the other is the first installment of a sci-fi, fantasy novel series I’m putting together that’s “Tales Of Alandria: Bridging Of Worlds”. Love writing as a hobby during my free time between both my jobs during the week. Great to keep yourself busy.
