I could catch myself staring at her and seeing an orange flame in her blue eyes. She looked up and locked eyes with me. It was like a game of chicken because I told myself not to look away. There we were staring at each other locked in each others eyes for at least 12 seconds. She would break contact and again a few seconds later right back in the same spot but then Iâd break eye contact. We did that throughout the night & I later left for work. I couldnât stop thinking about her. Trying to shake my emotions off and put up a wall. I told myself I wouldnât fall for anyone again and I wasnât going to do it now. A few weeks later I noticed she became distant with many people and I reach out over the phone a few times as a friend asking if everything was okay. At this time I had been the quiet guy who kept to himself in a crowd of people. She shared some struggles she was having that I had gone through myself. It was then that her and I began talking. I remember some issues at home happened while we were on the phone and she offered to meet somewhere. I accepted and shared a lot about myself then. That night I remember telling myself âdonât do itâ âdonât give your heart awayâ. Later that week I remember asking to call her one night (I worked nights in an empty parking lot) and that night became a 7 hour conversation. I remember her staying up with me and refusing to sleep. I learned so much about her. I became open and vulnerable sharing my deepest hurts as well as her sharing with me. 4-5 nights later I had learned so much about this girl that so many others didnât know. Things were going so well and at this time I couldnât help myself anymore. I had fallen so hard for her that I wanted to treat her and love her like she deserves. I shared my emotions one rainy night. I panicked was unsure if I should share but my heart was so consumed with love and affection for her I didnât want to carry that in the shadows of our friendship. I over shared and it was a lot. I knew she wasnât ready since she had come out of a 6 year relationship 5 months ago. She cried after, it was a lot. She had no words and I had no idea how I was supposed mix the mess of emotions I spilled. Right now sheâs taking a month to be alone with God from me and people. Iâm nervous that when she does reach out as she promised in a month that she wonât feel the same. She said she would never date anyone younger than her which I am by three years.
