You will love it! Best restaurants in San Diego. It's small enough to see and experience in a day. Thank you for watching!

@alanguishes..I know Little Italy like the back of my hand, live a few blocks from there, in the Italian restaurants , 90 percent of all workers speak Italian Italian. The houses that are there all Italian families, like the Pecorreros, who live right across the street from Felipes restaurant. There are round tables where Italian men meet 24-7 , another place is the Bacci ball the retired Italian men play every day!! I hear the Italian language spoken very frequently there!!

Tip: the ZZ in "Piazza" (or any other Italian word) is pronounced exactly like the ZZ in "Pizza."

It was looking pretty rough before they repainted and added the verbiage. But to be honest, I see it everyday and barely even notice it anymore 😆

It should be pointed out, that Little Italy in San Diego is not an actual Italian neighborhood. I visited last Summer of 2022 and thought it was a really nice place. I looked for people who actually spoke Italian and could not find even one. I asked people who live there and the area and they had no idea where to find speakers of Italian. I was told it used be an authentic Italian enclave, but not anymore.

You should have checked out the unofficial mayor seated next to the Little Italy sign in the yellow house (with the gold Bentley parked outside most days). There is a group of old school residents including the owners of Nonna and Barbusa that speak Italian. Another great spot to check would have been the bocce ball courts on any given Monday or league day. Lots of Italian speakers. There are also lots of families that ended up right across the freeway in Bankers Hill which are in the neighborhood on the daily. The people you asked are probably new and rent at one of the new apartment complex's. You can be in your own little world if you don't venture far from those. Thanks for watching!

@@sandiegoneighborhoodinsider Thanks. Yet, I visited the Little Italy Association of San Diego and they said, they have nothing to do, nor know of things like that. They are there just to promote the neighbourhood. They directed me to visit the Amici House, and the person working said he doesn't speak Italian either, but his grandparents did, he wasn't aware of places to go and meet Italian speakers. I checked the The Italian Cultural Center of San Diego, but ever since the pandemic it became permanently closed.
Thanks for your info. I was just surprised it wasn't much of an Italian enclave. I have heard Little Italy in Manhattan was similar.

no one really speaks italian anymore although that is changing with the newer generation wanting to reclaim thier heritage what matters are the families of the descendants still living there or does it have newer net migration

@@sandiegoneighborhoodinsider its funny u said no worries as that is a very typical west coast saying northerner's and mid south say no prob/ problem because we always have time for worries life is a worry but we dont want no problems b. so we say no problem because the north is a wee bit aggressive and is inherently anti control lol if i bumped into u on the street u dont say no worries thats to much of an order who are u to tell me what to worry about lol rents due. the north is a big bag of neuroses whereas no problem lets them know we dont want no problems or we just say sorry old school like . u will like upstate ny its very nyc like especially in the small towns cities but less like the city as although we are blunt we are giving and caring we have immigrant values up there still not american anti values
