Great video Andy. Lovely to see how you go about the finishing touches. Hope to get my own lathe next year and start wood turning :)

How does this hold up over time? I’m new to this hobby and have fallen between camps on the CA versus anything else finishes. All of the CA folks say theirs is the longest lasting….thanks for the videos!

First of, welcome to the club! Hope you really enjoy the hobby! Secondly, the finish will fade over a period of time with everyday use. A CA finish is much harder wearing. The advantage of Melamine finish over CA is speed. I also found that removing of the bushes for the blank afterwards can cause the CA finish to split. All that work down the drain!! Very frustrating!

Really good video which helped me a-lot. Where did you get the pen mechanisms from. I far prefer these than the two piece.

Hey Anthony. Check out www.beaufortink.co.uk for the Headwind kit. Great little kit, and a really good seller at the markets! Thanks for watching, glad ye got something out of it!

Andy, great video, how many total coats of the melamine lacquer did you use? Thank you.

Hi there. Total number of coats is 5 melamine and 1 or 2 carnumba wax. Thanks for watching!
