    I am not basing my purchase on this video. He did not explain if he had both vacuum and sander on same circuit. Another CZcamsr explained having the exact same issue and tested it by plugging into another outlet and problem solved. It seems the DA needs a certain amount of power to run smoothly.

    • @sccwoodwork6655
      @sccwoodwork6655 Před 5 měsíci +2

      I think he shares the circuit from the vacuum itself. Some vacuums are designed or built with an outlet for sanders to plug in to vacuum. This can cause issues because some vacuum comes with horrible plug 🔌 outlet. I used it 4-8 hours a day. Share same outlet coming out of wall as vacuum. No issues. I think is not the sander it’s his electrical having issues.

      Yeah this is important. The way it 'dies' and then resumes at 100% capacity for a few seconds before 'dying' the same way doesn't seem like tool motor death at all.

I love them they are as good as 3m sander or even better in my opinion

    Thanks. I was about to pull the trigger. Reminds me of my Porter Cable 6". My friend who is a full time woodworker told me to make sure I bought the replacement plan, which I've done many times, often not even needing to use it, as the sander would die before a week or a month was out. I honestly lost count after 5 or 6 of them. I'm buying another 6" this weekend or next week, and am just going to have to suck it up and spend the big bucks. I often have to sand for hours on end, so no way would that work.

    It appears that the source of the problem affecting the sander maybe due to sensitivity to changes in voltage. A couple of reviewers have noted that if the sander and the dust collection runs off the same circuit, you can run into situations where the unit shuts off. If the sander is plugged into a circuit that is different then what is powering the dust collection, the sander does not experience the same power issues.
    Before giving your ultimate thumbs down, I think it's worth testing this theory.
    In reality, it's very easy for us to start overloading our circuits in the shop. It's just not something we normally think about. The more power we draw, the more we risk damage to our tools. Additionally, we don't really have any way of knowing just how clean the power is in the shop, without the use of some advanced diagnostic tools.

    I have the 6" version, and used it for one project. It was running more than 30min, but not continuously. This sander makes me not hate sanding as much, but I still hate sanding in general. If I can't hand plane, I scraper. Sanding is the last option for me.
    It would be a great product test with a fixed amount of weight on it and find out how much down pressure is enough and how much is too much.

    I bought the same sander, during the first try I felt slight electric shocks in my hand and after a few hours of use, it no longer works, insulation fault which triggers the differential circuit breaker on my electrical installation, I sent an email to the manufacturer who responded very quickly certifying me that they took my problem into account and that they informed their engineering department, Amazon sent me a voucher for the return of the sander and the total reimbursement of the sander, I am buying one again but given the unreliability of this equipment I don't know if I will buy the same one again, it's a shame because this sander has very good ergonomics, a light weight and power, it's a real shame that MAXXT has not resolved these malfunctions to date, my purchase was recent December 31, 2023, it was used for around 10 hours, that's not a long lifespan for a sander!

    Dynabrade makes industrial grade sanders that are made for production lines. I think that if they are made to run all day in aircraft factories...well you fill in the blanks. Made in USA. Slightly less than a Festool sander. Mine has had no problems (it is pneumatic btw which reduces overheating issues if adequately lubricated). I suggest to anyone looking for a durable sander that can be abused....DYNABRADE!

    This sander need a constant voltage and when plugged into a vacuum, you share the same circuit and can see voltage drop where the sander will stop. Just plug into a different circuit and you'll be fine. This guy isn't too perceptive on problem solving.

    • @Idealwoodworks
      @Idealwoodworks  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Well, actually, the sander and the vacuum were plugged into different circuits. However, If that’s necessary for it to operate that’s just further proof that it’s not a good sander. I’ve been putting a ton of hours on my 3m sander with no concerns of plugging into a different circuit than the vacuum and I’ve had no issues.

      Several reviewers have identified that running and sander on the same circuit as the dust collector may also contribute to the sander turning off.
      Given that the manufacturer is looking at a possible static issue as a root cause, my guess is that this is electrically related and not mechanical. It may be worth trying to run the sander on a circuit separate from the dust collector.

    I can't speak about the Max as I don't have one, but since it's a Mirka Deros styled sander I can speak about the Deros.
    In the manual for the Deros it states if using a interface/protection pad to keep it in the 7k rpm range as a max. Most everyone who buys the Deros will be using net abrasives and in turn a interface/protection pad. So if running maxed at 10k rpm it could possibly account for the dreaded control module fault that people experience with the Deros. As I imagine most don't read the manual and run it balls out.
    It's just a theory and could be bullshit, but through the Mirka App I set my paddle to max out at 7.6k rpm. Time will tell for me and the Mirka I suppose, but I can add that in my just under a year with the Mirka, I've gotten a lot better run time than your 30 minutes with the Max.
