This was the Title Track to their 2nd album. It came out in like 2006 or 2007. So right there at the cusp of HD video. But regarding this song and album as a whole, and the first two albums in general, it was a time before Sabaton had gone to full concept-themed albums. The songs were still all about war and stuff, but they jumped all around history. You know you'd have songs about 18th and 19th Century wars, then WWI and WWII, and then even some about modern wars. The song "Panzer Battallion" from the first album if I remember correctly, was actually about the US Armored attack in Desert Storm, and not some German armored unit in WWII. It really wasn't until their 4th album "Art of War" based on Sun Tzu's book that their albums got themed as such. The 3rd album was actually the delayed release of the first album they actually recorded before Primo Victoria. And it was even more disjointed with its song content. It was more or less just straight up power metal, Sabaton-style. It was recorded before they decided on the historically themed songs and albums idea.
im not sure its taking sides as much as coming from the view of the 3rd Reich by the soviets, as the entire song is about the soviets taking Berlin. and obviously there was a lot of hate felt there, even the sabaton history video points out the horrors of what Germany did in the USSR as a pretext to what the soviets were feeling once the boot was on the other foot.
Got hooked on Sabaton around 2013 when my son started listening to the Carolus Rex album. This was one of the older songs that hooked me even more. I remember asking myself how I had missed such a great Swedish metal band. Aside from the Carolus stuff, which is on its own level IMO, this one is easily among their best ones.
I'm actually pretty sure that the Eagles thing was directly taken from the Romans seeing as Germany Started out as the "Holy Roman Empire", also known as Prussia, which then became the German Empire after Napoleon, and While Prussia wasn't actually Roman, Hitler did take a lot of ideas from the Romans, and wanted Germany, to become basically the next Rome Empire or Greek Empire, hence the name the 3rd Reich Or at least that's how stuff was explained to me, I'm probably a bit off about some stuff, but that's the general gist of it

This was one of their first music videos... while the graphic quality was not great... the song was well worth it.

I've heard that Holy Roman Empire is the 1st Reich, German Empire was the 2nd and so the Nazi Germany is the 3rd
