    Okay, a clarification. What I meant by "studying for IQ tests" is not that you can increase your inherent intelligence that way - that, by definition, is a contradiction. Of course the score itself will be meaningless. All I wanted to say is that anything seemingly controlled by IQ - even the test that is specifically designed to measure IQ - can be offset with some hard work thrown in. I am claiming that it's good to live in denial, and I think it's reasonable to do so.

      iq limits potential rate of instances in pattern recognition , and in memory. measuring is for making sure people measure genetics potential, to measure if they shoudl make kids and who they should make them with. its also for choosing between potential candidates for a job , for having a product (liek sinurance), etc , when other more practical measures of qualification are equal between them

      Ur IQ is what? A part of your brain with a fixed set of characteristics? i.e., efficiency in neuron development or something, or rate in which information travells, or the way neurons had developed to do fundamental things where some people's development had turned out better than others.

    • @rzl34
      @rzl34 Před 11 měsíci +2

      even if iq fixed, as long as there is not an impairing deficit, it is possible to achieve unbeliveable efficiencies and knowledge; it is very important to set aside limiting beliefs; iq is only one very narrow statistic that cannot encompass anything else that accounts into success, skills, knowledge, mindsets.. In fact being too smart can be a massive impairment because it can lead to very rationally logical spirals of self-destructive or self-loathing ideas that can lead to depression or nihilism and somehow rationalize such states of mind, even though they are literally impacting their ability to live and are therefore fundamentally wrong. The only belief you should have is one that propells you forward towards a better life, no matter who rationalizes otherwise. This is why therapy exists, among other possibly extremely powerful states of mind depending on the person and how good they train themselves in it, such as religion, meditation, stoicism...

    - The video discusses how to awaken and enhance the analytical problem-solving mind through scientific understanding of creativity, and not through drug use.
    - The definition of creative problem solving is the ability to receive a task or problem and produce a creative solution that is new to you and useful in solving or addressing the problem.
    - There are three main parts of the brain that contribute to creativity: the generator, explorer, and filter.
    - The generator is an idea factory that generates a bunch of random ideas, both good and bad, that are given to the rest of the brain.
    - The explorer takes the ideas from the generator and explores them to see if they have any merit in solving the problem or if they can be learned from.
    - The filter filters out bad ideas from the generator before they reach the explorer.
    - Both the generator and the filter are mostly automatic, while the explorer is both manual and automatic.
    - There is a relationship between the conscious and unconscious parts of the brain, and understanding this relationship can make it easier to figure out how to improve creativity.
    - To improve creativity, one can practice generating ideas, exploring them, and filtering out bad ideas.

    Another great video Colin! These are more important than ever with all of the layoffs sweeping tech right now. One question: how do you balance whether to go deep on an idea or explore a new one? I struggle with this especially when figuring out the optimal solution to a problem, e.g. I'll have a O(nlogn) but I'm not sure whether I should push for the O(n) or if it's even possible.

    creative problem solving = do creative task, come up with something new, frame that as a problem and exercise creativelly solving
    creative is an ability to produce something that is bith novel or original and has utility that valuable to someone
    creative process :
    use past experience the information that we already know to produce something that we dont know new for experiment
    how do creative work scientifically = generatir ab idea factory that generate a bunch of random idea, but many of these ideas are garbage and some are maybe good
    generator => filter => explore = find detail, pick the particular idea and focus in a manual and auto way
    improve the concious and unconciosiosuly for make better decisions, more usefull details
    concious = exploring and filtering
    unconciously = generator
    more relevant ideas => more correct ideas => more detail ideas
    types of creativity :
    1. insight when something sits in your mind then suddenly something idea pop up unexpetedly ( unconsiouslly generating the ideas without managing the process ) from active thought, past experience or information,newness
    unciciouss => cocncious management to process that idea into creation
    concious and uncocious => focus =>problem => solution
    type of thinking :
    .1 convergent thinking = combining a bunch of different of information,past problems and new problems and do one solution
    2. divergent thinking = taking a single of information and generate as many potential solutions
    how to create video = come up with various of ideas or a particullar idea unconciuoslly with divergent thinking or convergent thinking with a bit of insight mixed => some ideas are filter out based on which ideas video that perform well and bad performance ideas => explore the ideas through concious explorer awaiting more details with synteshize => focus and bring the ideas into creation
    creativity => draft video =>
    convergent thinking = research
    divergent thinking and insight = add ideas
    how to improve creativity = two types
    1. short term creativity = optimization creative process to come up with good ideas for some problem
    2. long term creativity = optimize your creative brain as a whole to imrpove your creativity
    boosting for generator ideas with knowledge
    relaxing filter to filter out more ideas that are goox
    unleash creativity = write down every ideas that come up no matter how good or bad the ideas, it shutting up the filter, it is for unleash the crazy ideas that doesnt promising at first
    the more stuck you are the more you should relax your filter and considering the crazy ideas that doesnt promising at first
    Inspiration = problem details, small examples, problem variations, past experiencr, random things around you
    if a lot of ideas that are considering not usefull = mental reset and break for generating new ideas
    if you can only focus on one task or problem you reduce stress
    praticing a certain thing let you improve at that thing
    insight => various oppurtunity to show up by solving hard problems
    convergent thinking => pattern recognizition, finding common ideas/themes, relating similar problems
    divergent => general problem solving
    tips for strong generator :
    1. train on one problem until you feel tired
    2. diversify of problems ( many problems ) and depth ( not many a loteng of problems )
    3. if not depth = spend longer, if solving to quickly = go another harder problem, igf taking a long time = spend less time
    for filter :
    1. for a single problem filter out by come up with correct idea, alternative ideas, wrong ideas, variety of your ideas

    -- The video stresses the importance of developing analytical problem-solving skills through understanding creativity rather than relying on drugs.
    -- Creative problem-solving is generating innovative and valuable solutions for tasks or problems.
    -- The brain's creativity process involves three main parts: the generator, explorer, and filter.
    *** [The generator] functions as an idea factory, producing good and bad ideas for the rest of the brain to consider.
    *** [The explorer] evaluates the ideas from the generator to determine their potential value in solving the problem.
    *** [The filter] screens out unfavorable ideas from the generator before they reach the explorer.
    -- The generator and filter primarily operate automatically, while the explorer involves manual and automatic processes.
    -- Understanding the relationship between the brain's conscious and unconscious parts helps enhance creativity.
    -- To boost creativity, individuals can practice generating ideas, exploring them, and effectively filtering out undesirable ones.

    Weed helps you relax and focus on the present moment, allowing your brain to forget about everything else and focus solely on the task at hand. That's why it helps you come up with many ideas and interesting thoughts. The brain focuses on something and doesn't let it go. It's like getting in the flow but better. That's basically it.
