    I loved hearing Arguelles talk more about German literature. Thanks for putting on this interview.

    Having taken a few courses from each of you -- 20 years or so ago from Prof. Arguelles in college and around 5 years ago from Timothy on Udemy, I find this video extremely valuable. There are more than a few things I remember really fondly about Prof. Arguelles, but if I could share one thing here: I remember maybe in a few occasions in his literature class(es?) that he started speaking Korean to explain a difficult point, and the wording and structuring of the sentences were not only flawless but much better than what you would normally find among many other Korean professors. Also, he was the only foreign professor who called me by my real, Korean name, not this nickname "Scott." And Timothy, thanks to you, I am a Flying Logic (developed by Wolf McNally) user. Thanks a million for this video, Timothy!

      Thanks for you comment glad to have you on the channel. I will pass your comment along to Alexander. In my forthcoming Education of Obama series I will be talking about the core curriculum at Columbia where the Prof got his BA.

    Yup, very nice conversation, I loved how the Professor met his match when it comes to being passionate for world literature and philosophy! You can just see how this was one of the most riveting conversations he's had in a while!

    NOTE BEFORE WATCHING:
    There are dozens of links and comments in the chat replay. Make sure to enable it...it adds a lot to the experience of watching this. Alexander and I both participated in the chat when this interview first premiered on CZcams. Also my audio was a little loud the first minute or so but then it evens out.

    Do you have a plan to take a conversation with A.J. Jacobs, who's a very interesting person? He had read whole set Encyclopedia Britannica cover to cover!

    Luther's works spawned the whole reformation. His 95 theses and his Luther Bible. In England it was the Tyndale Bible and Cramer's Book of Common Prayer. Literacy destroyed Catholicism. The Church had the Bible only in Latin to a handful people, even most priests didn't read it. The Mass was also in Latin. Protestantism brought religious ideas straight to the common person, and that crushed the Church's authority which relied on ignorance.

      @TheMahayanist Před rokem +1

      Medieval Christianity both Eastern Greek Church and Latin Western Church was based entirely on the Mass. Protestantism switched that focus to the written word and Christianity has been entirely different ever since.
