I vote Mom & Dad have their own Video Playlist... Dad sounds like he may have things to say...
This would be a most interesting channel...
we'll be sure to let them know this is in high demand! :)
Your point mentioned about parents is wisdom my friend 1000% agree.
Loved this. Last few sentences about parents made me cry
welcome to Singapore guys....hope you guys have a good stay here.....go try all the local hawkers centres. Treasure the time you have with your parents, i wish i had the capability and the chance to do that with them.....but........
Thanks for the tips! we understand that sentiment and feeling
Watching from Australia and headed there this Sunday. Canât wait! Great video btw.
Awesome! have a wonderful time :) thanks for watching!!
For local food in Singapore, highly recommend the not so widely mentioned Malay Muslim food such as mee rebus, mee siam and mee soto. They can be easily found in most hawker centres and food courts at a reasonable price.
"Mee Siam" (literally "noodles in Siamese style", the former name for Thailand). I must try this dish to see how similar Thai dish it is. Love shared cultures. Makes me feel close to our neighboring countries.
@@Neednoy2 Itâs interesting to hear that, we are good and close neighbours.
Thank you for these recommendations, we never knew and are so glad you shared
They were at telok blahgah at one part of the video. Theres a rly good mee soto store there that they should try.
Singapore is an amazing place.... I love the city, the food, the transport, and so much more
It really is!
Yeah, spend as much time as you can with your parents now as they might be gone sooner than when you plan to do so. There is a Chinese saying that goes "æ æŹČéèéŁäžæą,ćæŹČć »èäșČäžćŸ " which kinda translates to "The tree wants to remain quiet, but the wind won't stop. The son wants to serve his parents in their old age, but they are no longer around.". There is absolutely no better time for filial piety.
Wow, beautiful share, thank you
You are so inky!
Agree with you 100% on how we dunno how much time we have left with our parents. Happy for you that youâre making full use of it :)
Itâs a hard thing to think about sometimes, but a good reminder of all our good and happy memories together!
Your parents are the sweetest! Them complaining about you two filming the whole time was hilarious! lol!
they aren't wrong đ
So sweet! đ„°đ„°You are so blessed to have your parents fit and healthy to travel with you. Cherish the moment Sometimes, we will never know the value of a moment until they become a memory.
Yes! Youâre so right. We are so, so blessed :)
Wow, you recall my memory of visiting Gardens by the Bay with my daughter in 2019. My daughter has been worked an internship at Grand Hyatt Singapore for a year. I also enjoyed night view from the SkyPark Observation Deck of Marina Bay Sands.
that sounds like a wonderful trip :)
So happy to see you guys enjoying time together as a family in my country. Yes, Gardens by the Bay is magical. It's quite literally my neigbourhood garden because it's near where I live and part of my exercise route, and I'm still blown away by it every single time. You're welcome to come back again anytime!
wow! you have a beautiful neighborhood garden! we love how many accessible paths there are for running/biking/walking, everything there! thanks for the warm welcome
You guys are absolutely amazing & thoughtful for bringing your parents along for the trip. Hope you enjoy your stay in my little humble Singapore island.
Love you guys đđ
:) thank you for the kind words -- we love Singapore so so much!
Love it. You guys always seem to "get it" and understand the "why" behind your trip. The end of this video was just great. (Not that the rest of it wasn't!) Enjoy your time together!
:) thanks for watching! we are trying hard to "get it," but we don't always on the first try. hope to share it and pass it along
I m so happy and glad for u to honour your parents, and spend time together for this holiday. Donât wait till is too late for regrets, wish u and your family well and safe during stay in Singapore.
thank you for this thoughtful comment! :)
So glad you all are enjoying yourselves in sunny Singapore. You are all doing fine, yes, keep that sense of wonder and awe always! Cheers!
thank you! we love singapore so :) cheers!
Welcome to SG. First time watching your vid. Subscribed. I like your honest comment about time with our parents. Appreciate it.
Hey Roger! Thanks for the sub and for watching :)
Thanks for helping me re-explore my city and making me write my to-go list! âșïž
Stay safe and stay happy you guy take good care of your parents, you guys can always come back again to Singapore for holidays on time on target.
yes! i've been to singapore, and sentosa island, way back in 1986 ... aside from crazy rich asians, wonderful to see all the changes, i started watching your channel from your van adventure in sydney, we've finally had 2 weeks of sunny weather, yay! in fact the east coast of Oz has had a whole year of rain in 3 months, keep doin' what you're doing, safe travels xjas.
thanks, jasmine! so glad you're getting some sunshine :D
I love this! My husband and travel with our parents as well. We have totally different experiences on trips with them than without. You are absolutely wise to recognize just how special this opportunity is and the memories you will treasure. I lost my dad several years ago and I would give anything to have another trip. When I was younger I learned how to travel from him as he was a globe trotting business man. But as his health declined, we also learned how to slow down, how to travel at a different pace, how to sit on a bench and take in the experience rather than rush through. We leave this week for our much anticipated (and delayed thanks to Covid) trip to Italy. We will be taking our 1yr old daughter and both my mother and mother-in-law. Always treasure these experiences. Thanks for another great episode. (I love your dads side commentary videos).
Hi Emily-thank you so much for watching and for sharing. This means a lot to us. Seems like we are always chasing travel, but the more we do this, the more we realize all we want is more time and meaningful experiences with the people we love, so why not combine them? :) enjoy your travels with your family!
Not sure if I can do 2 month trip with parents, but my family of 4 took my mom, mother-in-law and my aunt to Italian trip to celebrate all 3 of their 70th birthdays (all born same year). It was very memorable for my kids who got to spend time with their grandmothers and great aunt in a different country and continent. And vice versa. With unforgettable shared memory.
@@AA_cowgomoo that sounds like such a special trip for everyone! thanks for sharing
Always fun to be on the move and travel with you both. Appreciate the good vibes!
Hi Lisa and Josh, great to see both of you travelling with your parents to Singapore...surely pros and cons travelling with the elderly and never easyđ. Enjoy your trip here and take care.
Hey Jonathan! So true! With anything, always the good and bad, but thatâs what makes it so fun and worthwhile :) thank you
I thought mimosa is a common grass. I didn't know that it may not exist in other places. Played with it in my childhood
Thanks for visiting our Singapore. I enjoyed your vlog. There are many more free places to visit and enjoy. Our local food at our hawker centre should be ventured. Cheers !!!
Great vlog, again! So nice that you get the opportunity to travel with your parents âșïž
yes! we feel so lucky :)
Welcome to Singapore! Loved this video. So different to other travel vlogs with the perspective of travelling with your parents. This makes me miss travelling with mine and I cannot do that anymore as my mom passed away like 10 years ago.
hi there! thank you for watching and we appreciate that sentiment, thank you for sharing
Great work guys.
I love this episode, I feel so much family love â€ïž but too much to do in one day ! Enjoy and stay safe đđ
thanks, Patrick! haha and yes, we do tend to jam pack our days, sometimes way too much :)
Yay botany! I am totally here for your botany moments, Lisa. :)
Wow, I never knew much about Singapore but it seems like such an interesting place. Everything seems so new, artistic, clean, innovative, etc. Wish cities in the U.S. had stuff like this.
Its a good place to use as a jumping point to other destinations around SE Asia.
yesss, agreed!!
Great travel vlog, especially sharing your insights regarding appreciating and spending more time with your parents even though thereâre bound to be differing needs and opinions. Always good to have some botany tips too! ;) And what a nice surprise to see my neighbourhood food centre appear in the middle of your video! Incidentally, I just bought my dinner from there. LOL
Hi Edric! Thanks for the thoughtful comment! Itâs been an eye opening and fulfilling trip :) full of botany too!!! :) yes! We happened upon the food center and loved it!
Nice down to earth analysis. much appreciated my end.
thank you :)
Loved this, and the reality of not always being able to have that time with your parents. Pulls on the heartstrings, but so important to say and appreciate!!
â€ïž
A must do is the Night safari at the Zoo. Rent a bike a East Coast park for something local
Well said.awesome vlog.
Yay for touristy. If you haven't done it before...join the tourists and do it at least once. You'll never know if you don't go. Love Sentosa. As a solo tourist/traveller I have no compromises, but, I am responsible for EVERYTHING and logistics can be headache inducing. Meeting new people also travelling is fun and I have relatives all over the world...71 first and second cousins and there are some I haven't met yet...until 2023!
No such thing as a dud meal in Singapore.
yes!! there's a reason why things are called touristy :) that does sound quite challenging too--hard especially if you want to bounce ideas off of others too. but we agree--solo traveling is so fun when you get to meet new people along the way! and wow! are those cousins all over the globe? good reason to go visit :)
nice sharing, wonderful editing, lovely family đ
You are so kind, thank you!
Love the bloopers, we want more.
you got it!! âșïž
I like the botany too đ. When you said Plumeria instead of frangipani, I thought wow!
botany is the best! I hadn't heard the name frangipani before either :)
Ahh, in North Queensland there is a plant that looks similar to that sensitive plant only it grows bigger into a bush. It also moves when touched.
I used to throw a handful of sand at it front a few metres away and it would just vanish.
wow, are the leaves much larger? would love to see that in real life!
Good son and daughter .
Great video!đ„Enjoy the 2mo trip :)
Thanks! đ
What Josh said about time with our parents is so right. Treasure them when they are with us ... guess you guys did not have that much time in Singapore. Would dare say Singapore's zoo is pretty good, and there is a wetland - Sungei Buloh for the nature loving in you.
Speaking as someone with neither of my parents left and who sees 2 of my 3 children less than 3 times a year, I get this completely!â€
We(Sporeans) used to called it "forget me not" plant. We were so fascinated by it closing up its leaves.
I love that name!! it's such a cool, fascinating plant!
I definitely get you on the taken time with your parents,my mom died when I was 14 and my Dad when I was 11.
hey Eric--thanks for sharing this â€ïž
yâall should try walking from vivo to sentosa itâs q fun and itâs definitely walkable
Thank you Lisa and Josh. Beautiful reminder about spending quality time with ourbpq
I mean parents
thank you :)
You guys just hit 12K!!!!!! đđđŸđ„đđœââïžđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđšđš
đđđđ :)
Thanks!
Wow, thank you Teney!!
Great video ( as usual ). Still can't figure why they call Palawan Beach the Southernmost Point of Asia when it's plainly not.
If you go by land mode it is indeed the Southernmost tip of the Asian land mass, It was the Southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula but because of the connecting land bridge to Singapore the point is moved further Southward, Just look at the map.
13:06 In Jamaica we called them âshame me darlingâ so the name shy is interesting to
First!!!!! My favorite CZcamsr's đ
hooraay!!!
Nice video! Thanks for charring. All tho I do have a question. With all that food and drink water (for the warm weather) and long walks, when you need to use the restroom, is there a lot of restrooms to use when out walking?
Great question!! We found restrooms in many public spaces, including the gardens by the bay, and all the malls!! (AC too!!)
The insect that is so loud is cicada. A healthy forest should have cicada.
I appreciate science lessons!!
It would have been worth mentioning the cost of the hotel. Singapore is known for the high cost of accomodation.
Yes! We didnât list it in our costs because we used our hotel points to cover our 5 nights in Singapore, so there were no costs for us, but the hotel we stayed in was definitely expensive - $200/night!
What was the building that looked like it was lying down.
We call it in the Philippines âmakahiyaâ đż yes it means âshyâ
Wow, so happy to learn this, thank you!!
Mimosa purica or touch me not plant. They are also abundant in the Philippines.
Best avoid going outdoor between 11pm-3pm. Hot sun yo. The locals hide in airconditioned malls or underground links.
yes! we learned this the hard way đ we love the AC malls!
@@LisaAndJosh Next time come to Singapore between January - February. Very sunny but not very hot like the rest of year. With plenty of cold wind blowing from the East. Avoid coming to South East Asia from May onwards. Moonsoon and very hot sun. Even the soldiers here dies from heatstroke.
Hey Lisa and Josh! Iâll be travelling to Singapore very soon, could you please tell me the name of the hotel you was staying at? Thanks in advance!
hi there! sorry for the delay! all of the places we stayed at are in our description in the video :)
0:09 is that universal studios i remember that place
jk i know it is
Actually it is outside of universal studio. A candy store.
That loud sound is made by the cicadas
they're so loud and amazing!
How did you travel around with parents ?
yeah at the age of 30 plus i only realize... ow.... i don't know this woman and man..... ok let me get to know them again... hi mom... hi dad. HAHAHA> and i tell yah.... its an amazing thing to learn more about them and reconnect. Cos.... many would just leave them once left home but.... yeah.....truly missing out if we don't do this tbh.
yes, this resonates with us so so much! such a gift to be able to go back and ask our parents what they did when they were younger. :)
You should allow your parents to discover SINGAPORE BY THEMSELVES âïžâïžâïž
Dont forget....THIS IS ALSO THEIR OWN HOLIDAYS AS A COUPLE...JUST LIKE YOU AND YOUR WIFE đđđđ
SINGAPORE IS PERFECTLY SAFE.....LEAVE IT TO THEIR OWN INGENUITY AND THEIR INSTINCT AS ADVENTURERS TO A NEW LAND â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
You can always meet up for dinner ....after your own excursion round the island đđđ
Sentosa...what Walt Disney planned his world to look like before the new Corporate Disney greed took over
Wonderful video!
Mountains? What?!
Meeting one pack wanderers?
damn whos cutting onions up in here
Hey how come you guys donât include accommodation in your daily tally of costs? Your experience of Singapore is totally different to mine. I found it really expensive and every cab driver short changed me.
Hey Rick! Good q! We didnât include accommodations in our budget this time because we were able to use our hotel points to cover our five nights at this hotel, luckily, so we didnât have any costs there. Sorry to hear that that was your experience there!. we found the Grab ride app to be the most affordable and straightforward to use when not taking public transport or walking.
All cabs in Singapore are metered and exact, so there should be no chance they could short change you, unless they went about a longer route than youâd expected. Or did you mean they didnât give you the correct change back upon cash payment?
Hey. I was paying by cash. They short changed change by as much as $20 in one instance. In another the driver distracted me by disputing the amount Iâd given him. I should have held my ground and called the police but I was in a hurry. Cab drivers in Singapore are the most dishonest Iâve dealt with.
@@rick7081 I'm sorry you had that terrible experience, and you should definitely report them! But I can assure you it is definitely not common. Still, it's always better to pay by card, if only just for the transactional record.
Thank you
In my fictional world, Malaysia surpasses Singapore in every area because they have Boboiboy and Ejen Ali
Do you know what Sentosa stands for? So Expensive, Nothing TO See Also. Lol.
Fort Siloso is free though. Good for history lovers. The beach is free too
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Wayne!!
