I’m not sure the lack of holes for the floor pins was as much of an oversight as you might think. They might have had feedback that dirt and water were getting through the holes too much. Maybe in their testing the floor mats didn’t move around during daily use with the new design. I’d like to know why they did it first

True story. I have had the WeatherBeater in the 2nd Gen Tacoma now for a couple months and haven’t noticed any movement. It was just disappointing at the time and had to be noted. My Land Cruiser has weather tech mats with no lock mechanism and they move around quite a bit. Seriously annoyed me!!!

I have WeatherBeater in my 2021 4Runner that look just like the X-Act Contour. I've never "loved" them but they do the job in a truck meant to take abuse. Initially they were extremely slick - to the point I couldn't rest my foot when I was wearing dress shoes (daily wear for me). I tried to get pistol grip tape to stick to them where the heal of the shoe rested with no luck. Eventually they became scuffed enough that the slickness wore off. Only issue with that is now the scuff marks keep them from looking "clean" once dry after a wash. Not important enough to me to find something else. Maybe for the next vehicle . . .
What attracted me to them was the good overlap on the sides to keep mud/water from getting under the mat when getting in and out. They have protected the carpet well!

How slippery when wet are they between the two?

With shoes on it is barely noticeable. I’ve never had a real world slip with either one. In testing with socks on is the only real way to feel a difference but doesn’t truly affect performance.
