I thought you were in my house. I have the same setup. I live in a log home as well. My fire place is the same type of stone. My fireplace is a bit bigger. My stove is not a VT casting, but it is a top load. I live up here in VT. Our cold is way colder than yours. I have not lit my stove this year. It has been down to the teens at night. Winters are long here, so I try to hold off on the wood burning until it get real cold. I get sick of taking care of the wood stove by mid Jan :) God Bless!
We have same stove, however when we shut damper it smothers itself out. We have to stick a tiny screwdriver in back air intake for it to work. Any idea what could be wrong with it. Factory refers us to supplier which says are wood is to dry.
I have never had a problem with it dieing out. If anything mine runs a bit hot. I would make sure your ceramic box with the catalytic in it does not have clogged holes at the bottom.
Amen, God bless you brother.
Oh I did enjoy watching this, thank you! My new Vermont Castings Intrepid is in the garage waiting to be installed. Can’t wait.
