- It's rare for most countries to have a single location be so influential to their entire cuisine. But in the case of Japan, one city has defined the basic modern flavor of Japanese food: Osaka. Today, I traveled to Osaka and around the Kansai Region, and figure out why so many Japanese dishes are from here.

Dude, this is an insanely well told story and well done editing. The blend of food, travel, and history was done in a super compelling way. Great video.
Please do Persian food influencing many cuisines
Sounds like an interesting idea. Question, how far reaching is Iranian influence on world cuisine 🌎
I know very little about Iran, but would love to see Isfahan someday!
@@offthemenuyt You could do alot with Iranian culinary history. It influenced a lot of places, Ancient Greece under Alexander the Great, The Abbasid Calpihate, the Ottoman, Savafid, and Mughal Empires. Also in terms of culinary contributions, two well known exports are sherbet and biryani. As for indigenous ingredients, there is spinach, pomegranates, and coining terms like candy.
I’m not sure on its influence in general, although I have seen similarities with Greek, Indian and other Mediterranean cuisines, and just saw on Wiki that omelette is originated from Persia.
@JT-yj3tr It definitely carried heavy influence with its neighbors. Particularly the Muslim Empires I listed above like the Abbasids, Ottoman, Savafid, and Mughal all took some inspiration from Persian cuisine when incorporating it in their own. Same can be said in terms of Iranian food influencing Central Asian fare and countries near the Caucauses like Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
Great video as always!
Always excited when I see a new video of yours on my feed!
Another great one as always!

Awesome video man, hope you do more videos for Southeast Asian countries: really loved your videos on Pad Thai and Papaya Salad ❤
Had i known all this when I visited Osaka....
Such a wonderfully informative and beautifully crafted video! This channel deserves more views and subscribers. I can definitely see and feel the awesome *Johnny Harris* vibes in your videos which is quite delightful😀👍💯
Agreed you you and your team are an incredibly talented documentarian group. Don’t worry people he’s going to blow up. This is too good! :)
As someone who will return to japan with a friend who mainly come to discover the japan cuisine, it's a must.
Last time (in march 2023), i didn't get to shinsekai. It's seem that i will need to repar this mistake ^^.
Japan food as so much to offer, each regions has his own speciality, i feel like at home on this aspect (i'm french).
For sure, they lack cheese and wine, but they still have something in that departement. Like 焼きカレー (yaki curry), who are a speciality of mojiko, a city near Kitakyūshū in Kyushu like the name suggest. It's a rice curry with cheese on top, simple but it look really appetizing
Yeah i will also need to go there too in february, during my next trip ^^
Love your content and stories
I have a small contribution: we need a bit more of camera stabilization and scenes transition bit smoother 😊
Because I got a bit dizzy watching this episode on TV
That's all, love you channel, hope it grow more and more
Lovely video! I really dig it and hope you make videos for ASEAN too
I've made earlier videos in Thailand and Laos!
oh cool beans! I'll check it out then. :)@@offthemenuyt
