Restoration - How To Repair 25 Year Old Jordans

- We’ve got another insane 25-year-old Air Jordan 1 restoration today courtesy of Vick Almighty. Today he’s going to show you how to restore Chicago Jordan 1s from 1994. Yes, 1994 is the year that the Jordan 10 made its debut, but Vick loves working on older Jordan 1s. This pair is going to require a full midsole swap, among other things.
The goal is to keep the ‘94 Chicago Jordan 1s as OG as possible. Now of course the midsole isn’t going to be, but the rest of the restoration work will be very minimal to avoid taking away from the character and nostalgia of the shoes.
After getting rid of the old midsoles Vick used the RESHOEVN8R Essential Kit to scrub 25 years worth of dirt and grime off of the uppers and insides of the shoe. This included a deep clean with the Soft Bristle Brush and Solution, as well as the Medium Brush for some of the deeper stains. No need to clean the soles as we’re replacing them with brand new ones.
Now for the fun (or sad) part, removing the donor soles from the brand new Jordan 1 Low. Vick removed the stitching with a pick and used acetone to slowly attack the glue until he could peel the shoes apart. Then, he let the new donor soles soak in coffee to give them an aged, cream tone.
It’s time to build these ‘94 Chicago 1s back up…but we’re going to need some help. Welcome back, Sal the Sneakerhead!
Sal is a master of restoring old shoes and completing difficult sole swaps, so we called him in to teach Vick a thing or two about the process. The two work great together, and in no time at all the pair of sneakerheads were able to dremel out the donor soles in order to fit the uppers properly, apply and cure the glue, and stick the shoes back together.
For the finishing touches Vick touched up some of the red paint that has worn off over time, and these bad boys are ready to take straight to the toe.
What do you think of this ‘94 Chicago Jordan 1 restoration? Was it worth the effort and the destruction of the donor shoe? Let us know in the comments down below.

Seeing this video makes me want to get the Jordan 1 “lost and found” so much more.
I love the glossy finish of these Chicago 1s...
Man, this is a grail and bucket list for me. I hope to find a pair of 85’s or later to do a full restoration like this. Great job in honoring an era Vic👏🏾
i have a 2013 pair that i messed up bad trying to restore. lmk if you wanna help 🤣
I've learned 99% of what I know about restoring shoes from the man Vic ✨ what started off as a hobby and a way for me to buy more sneakers with less money has turned into a decent side hustle 💰 Thanks for sharing your wisdom with all of us my friend ✌️
Same here, learned everything from Vic, and turned a hobby into a side hustle that helps me get more equipment or more ey towards sneakers, I mainly whiten soles or ice them out for people, but I clean them as well and restore the nap on suede/nubuc, but I'm still working on paint matching and still need to buy an air brush, I've got a decent amount of equipment and products from Angelus but would love to be able to restore a grail like this, just gotta keep trying, I've messed up on a pair or two of my own but I stripped the paint off and am working on figuring out the right combination. Hopefully Angelus keeps a record of any color they have ever matched, I'm sure they would share with you how to get any color they ha e matched. I bought the paint wheel to help guide me in the right direction and got some droppers so I can add colors one drop at a time. Keep working at it and you will get there
Real talk bruh …Vic da goat

This is exactly how my passion started og 1s trying to restore them
Love ❤️ the results and how clean they are. Those are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
OG 85's still 🔥.
You guys did an amazing job. My wife got me an executive kit and honestly I can clean anything I have and got the same light tent set up as vic, thanks for listing the links to the items on Amazon Vic, one of my lights were stolen by the delivery company, they were two houses away then all the sudden across the state and never came, luckily the Amazon seller replaced it but I bought 3 lights from them. Anyway i think this is one of the best restorations, the sneaker is a grail. I helped a friend restore a 2018 or 2019 6 infrared and was my first paint job on the midsoles, so I had to use too hard and then used the matte urethane 4 coat to try to help them from cracking etc. It's been a month or two and he hasn't had sny issues and they came out perfect. I used mink oil on the nubuck to get the black to darken and get a more buttery feeling, they turned out great , the tent had the dark yellow soles back to clear in about a weeks time, I couldn't have done it without watching your videos and actually I asked a couple questions on your site and you guys responded to me right away letting me know what to try and what not to do because I had to paint the midsoles. Back on topic the Jordan 1 is a grail, I wish I could find a pair as clean as these and restore them back to how great they looked in the end, I'm afraid I wouldn't get the sole dremeled to the right size and it's crazy how well you did with getting a donor sole. The stiching was dope, I have more confidence with stitching after watching how to do it properly. This was an amazing job overall as always, I don't know how you and your team are able to always come thru and restore to perfection
like you do, I have to paint by brush. I'm trying to build up my equipment but I buy sneakers in between and have bills like everyone else. One day I hope to be able to get the equipment to airbrush, it looks like it's so much easier and the paint goes on so smooth and even. I'm working on it, soaking the soles in coffee for a while made the soles look great, the still had a new look to then but just a little color to match the oxidation of a deadstock from that era. I wasn't old enough to get a pair of jordans until the late 90's,like 98 or 99 but I was always hustling to make money even in middle school but used the money for other things, until my friend started to get two pairs of every Jordan release, so he always had a DS pair sitting on a shelf, but his parents didn't mind buying them , dude was spoiled lol,I did get the original rebook pumps the year those dropped and thought I was man, but I quickly realized I was still a Nike fan and ended up with some AF1'S or AM90, I can't remember whichbi switched two but that's when I started to collect, and I was able to sell a portion of my DS and put a down payment on our fist house. Great job, this sneaker is s grail to me and I hope I can find a similar pair and use this video to try to sole swap and get then looking as nice as you guys did, I have a Dremel, actually a generic brand from harbor freight but I guess I just have to try things in stead of being afraid of messing them up, Thanks again for the excellent video it was fun to watch this restoration. I'm ahold sneaker head, compared to most on here, let's just say my 30's are almost gone but I'm glad I started collecting near the end of high school and was able to continue from then. When I was in college I wasn't able to collect as much as I would have liked, I was just lucky to have a new pair of J's to rock. Jordan 4,6, and 9 have always been a favorite of mine, but I started to really love the 1's and got every pair I could, living in the Midwest, you don't get a chance to cop or win the sneakers that jump to insane prices. Prior to covid I could still pick up pairs of 1's, 4's, 5''s, 6's, 9's, 11,'s and 13 's, after covid I could only get what I won on raffle so I bought every pair I would win regardless of how I liked them, now things are getting better and I've been able to get some 1's, 12's, 3's online or in local shops for retail, it seems like things are getting a bit more back to normal, but where I live we don't get a chance at grails that drop, u use a lot of apps from other states that will ship drops, but most are the pairs everyone gets, but I'll be on ebay for now on looking for deals in used sneaker and will work on becoming hopefully close to as skilled as the Angelus team and some others who have been in your videos. Great job with the restoration I was really impressed with the end result and it made me excited to hope I can get ahold of some grails like this pair and bring then back to life. I envy your work, and truly appreciate the products you guys sell along with reshoven8tor, mink oil has become one of my favorite items but I'm really working on paint matching and sewing, and think I'll try to do a sole swap, I recently started making some side cash with the tent set up and whitening soles or icing them out. I will clean them as well but have only painted one pair for a friend, I got lucky on that one, I have a AF1, that I think might be a rep, I bought it from a store in the mall, they are the gray camo AF1 lows and first time I wore them a pretty large piece of paint flaked off the toe box, luckily the toe box is just a solid color which the box says platinum gray, but I'm still trying to math the color, it's much more difficult than I thought. The store wouldn't return them because they said they had been worn, for two hours before the paint flaked off, but the 3m on them is real. I haven't found another pair on any app they are from around 2013 , look brand new with a big flake of paint missing on one toe box, that store is still open under a different name and now having as much knowledge about sneakers as I do it looks like they sell reps and sone retail, but I'm rambling, great video, I wish I was confident enough to attempt a restoration on a grail like this. The sneakers look so good I would definitely buy them if I came across a pair that looked so good. Keep up all the great work and videos, also I appreciate that you guys respond to questions on your website very quickly and provide excellent info on how to restore sneakers or even clean them. Definitely one of the most experienced and knowledgeable companies around, and you are always pushing the envelope making it easier to work on sneakers, just like the tent and lights, fans etc, I bought exactly everything you posted on that video and set up took no time at all, in the Midwest we only have good sunlight fir a small portion if the year to whiten or ice out soles, now I can do it while I'm sleeping in a pretty quick time. Great job, I dont think it's possible to have done a better job.
Thanks for sharing your story with us!
Jesus dude calm down. Was it really necessary to type all that ? Lol

Fire restoration 🔥
Appreciate that!
best one ive seen yet
You know!
Wow! We had a house fire and my sons Travis Scotts were damaged, mainly from the fire being put out! I will have to try this product and see if it helps fire damaged Nikes
Really good vidéo.
A good rule of thumb with chemicals is that whenever you have to wear a mask with something you should always wear gloves as well. That acetones soaking right through your fingers and getting into your bloodstream and doing more damage than The smell.
cap I drink acetone
Nice restoration as always
Stuff works wonders!
Can you do a video on fixing wrinkled cages on the 4s
It’s bugging me you’re saying these pair are 1994 but the title says 25 year old.. that would make them 28 years old 😂
Perhaps a re-upload 🤔🤷♀️
@@Che3esyMcLove I mean they didn’t have this setup 4 years ago but if it makes you feel better 🤷♂️
This was a 🔥🔥🔥 restoration, need that signature kit....
Appreciate the love!
Nice work! I always enjoy these videos.
Thanks so much!
I remember when I was a kid and Air Jordan’s first came out and I was 12 years old. My older cousin bought a pair and showed them to our granddad and he was in disbelief that he paid $60 for some sneakers. My first pair of Jordan’s were the Air Jordan 4’s in 1989 and payed $120 for them when I was supposed to buy school clothes with the money my mom gave me. She was pissed. LOL Now here I am a 49 year old sneakerhead paying $200 for Jordan’s watching restoration videos. 😂😂 Rest peace Granddad.
That's awesome!
Very nice and clean restoration.
Y'all Stay fresh/CLEAN and Coooornated 💯✌️
Wow, awesome restoration
You should try the oven method for removing the soles, 220 for 10-12 minutes, a little bit of acetone in the shoe before you put them in. You can pretty much just peel them apart once you take them out, way easier and less work.
Arizona
Amazing restoration. Need to restock on some stuff.
Always a good time to restock!
How long is paint gonna last on some 25 years old leather when you wear them
I am going to buy one of does on ebay they are not cheap but that's my dream having a real og jordan 1
That’s a WHOLE LOT of modification. And you have to ask yourself “Is the juice worth the squeeze”?
Maybe not for you, but for them, most likely yes.
unless these were 85s I agree not worth it you could just buy the newer Chicago's but as always vic does a good job
Excellent Work
lets go vick
You made them look fresh too
We try!
You should do a swarovski custom on Jordan 1 chicago 2015
Everything that you guys do is worth learning I appreciate you guys reshoevn8r is the bomb keep posting videos like this one I have alot of jordans to be upgraded like the 94's
Shout out to the original owner because they conditioned the leather amazingly for that shoe that there’s no cracks in the leather
I'll be honest with you idk what the quality of the leather is on these, but I have a pair of AJ1s from 1998 and there is such a thick layer of polyurethane on the leather that the leather still looks great, but it's impossible to condition the leather with that polyurethane layer on it. I'm thinking that's the same case with these, because if you noticed the leather on these were really shiny which is exactly how mine look, once again because of that polyurethane layer. If these had just paint on them then they wouldn't have that shininess to them.
@@NonLegitNation2 Ohhhhhh I never knew that cause I was hear thinking the reason it had that shine was cause of mink oil dang
@@burfside no that's the polyurethane, it's nice for protecting the leather but then again it also makes the leather feel like straight up plastic which sucks.
@@burfside I'll post a video on my channel tomorrow showing what I mean.
loving my kit
Great video!
Thanks so much!
Madd fly restore awesome video
Thanks so much
Hey Vick, I got an idea. The next time you restore 11s, use the crystal clear on the patented leather instead of mink oil. I think it'll look and work better.
Good idea!
Vic on fire🔥🔥
For sure
In the frant - vic almighty great job though
Wow! Amazing job!
Looks great
Awesome video, very detailed 😀
Doing our best!
