- The all-new Sun Princess, the first Sphere Class vessel might be a name from the past, but she takes Princess in a bold new direction. Based on the same XL platform from other ships in the Carnival Corporation family of brands, Sun Princess will be the largest ship ever constructed for Princess Cruises at 175,500 gross tons, 21 decks and able to accommodate over 4,300 guests. Powered by liquified natural gas, many elements of the ship’s construction and operation have been designed with the company’s green cruising focus in mind.
With the tremendous increase in size, guests can expect many past favorite venues onboard, but there will also be an opportunity to introduce an array of new dining, relaxation and entertainment spaces including The Dome, a stunning multi-level complex which features an inviting pool during the day and transforms into a performance venue at night. Park 19 offers thrilling and fun family activities including a ropes course featuring Rollglider and a splash pad. Sun Princess will also have newly appointed stateroom and suites, including a new suite level called the Signature Collection. The Signature collection will offer premium stateroom amenities and include access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge, and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary.

I will be working onboard the wonderful Sun Princess starting in January 2024! I recieved my contract this past week and have been in training for over 2 months already. Can not wait to welcome everyone onboard!

I'll be on her in 37 days & I am So Excited & have been waiting for this Cruise for Ages! I have already met one of the Entertainment staff that was on my Previous Cruise in Australia! She was disembarking with me & heading over to the Sun after spending time with her family! I'm looking forward to seeing & experiencing as much of the ship as I can! Chris, you mention that Sun Princess is using the same XL Platform that other Carnival brands use however looking at the exterior pictures and funnel shape it looks to me to be a redecorated MSC Seashore design? The Sun Princess doesn't have the "block" like shape of Carnival Mardi Gras. I know the MSC ships are built in Italy and so is Sun Princess. The Sun Princess looks to be a beautiful ship! Love all of the venues you showed in the video!
Hi TheRiverPirate13, there are some similar elements to Seaside class, but even though Princess claims they designed it from the ground up, there tons of common components found in XL class ships.

@@TalkingCruiseThe Carnival, AIDA, and P&O XL ships were built by Meyer. Those obviously drew a lot of inspiration from Fincatieri's Project Mille (of which the Princess ships are based on).
As a cruise veteran I can tell you that Princess is a very relaxing cruise for the 55+ crowd and for those who enjoy "fancy" dining/spirits. We just returned last week from an 8-day/7-night cruise on Sky Princess (my Christmas gift to the entire family) and even at my advanced age of 58 I found it largely boring. The kids and grandkids were bored the entire time (small kids club with few activities and a very tiny arcade) and now they never want to go on another cruise. For those looking for all-day fun and plenty to do for the entire family...nobody beats Royal Caribbean. For the older crowd just looking to relax...Princess fits the bill.
Cruising is personal and your cruise line of choice should be determined based on your expectations.
My wife and I will definitely do another Princess cruise for just the two of us but would never recommend it for families.

I've been on board the Spectrum of the seas in March 2023 cruising from Singapore to Thailand. Nice ship, modern but not on par with the elegance of a Princess cruise ship. Also the food was ordinary.

We've taken dozens of cruises with our kids, many on the latest ships with everything under the sun to do onboard. While we still enjoy incredible ships like what Royal Caribbean offers, we also enjoy taking longer, less busy cruises on Celebrity, Princess and Holland America.

Does the ice cream parlour have real dairy ice cream or an edible oil product similar to our most recent cruise on Celebrity Edge?

All over the ship! never had a serving of real ice cream on board the ship.@@TalkingCruise
I was onboard Edge in March and thought what they served in Scoops was fine. If that wasn't good for you, I wouldn't hold out much hope that what Princess offers will be any better.

Just what Princess needed. A combination of Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Sorry, not for me.
Hi melvinjacobs2328, if you are used to other ship classes, Sun Princess is a quite a departure. With so much more tonnage and the fact that this ship is very similar to Carnival's newest ships (same platform), it was inevitable that they would introduce many new features and venues that not everyone will like.
For me, it seems more like a cross between the new Celebrity Ships and Norwegian.
