really appreciate these updates! Look forward to more updates as we come into spring for those of us that are very fair weather
Love the mental health perspective. If you go out when you don’t want to, it becomes a chore and you’ll end up hating it. Way to listen to your mind.
The permit system has always been without basis. You cannot restrict public access on a public right-of-way. What the DEC and AMR have been doing over the last three years has been illegal. The parking is one thing, but the use of the right-of-way cannot be infringed upon.
I fully agree. I think they got away with a lot calling it a “pilot system“. Since there isn’t any real fully legal implementation yet, I feel they won’t be able to legally indefinitely implement it. But hey, it’s NY and NY does what they want I guess
I haven’t personally decided whether or not I agree with the system but I want to bring light to the original easement document that is published online. On page 11 section 4 it does give permission for the DEC and AMR to determine together if trails should be closed or limited for purpose of conservation and safety. Just want to share this so we can all have the most information when forming our personal opinion on the system!
Excessive visitation can certainly wreck natural environments - when too popular (damaging), it’s time to visit somewhere else, get a new natural experience. I’m 71, been up there from CNYork since the 60s.
@@mackenziecaseThe wording used is very wishy washy and begans under the language, "Which shall not be unreasonably withheld." A long-running restriction of access could easily be argued as not "done in a manner consistent with the purpose and objectives of the Foot Travel Easement."
Dude! I'll be finishing my 46 this summer. I'll have to hit you up!
The hex again for all of the info! Love your channel! Be safe!
Love that you're offering your photography service to hikers. We would have loved to have that on our 46er finish (even though it was on Redfield - haha).
Nice- despite you pitching to sell stuff more and more in your later content :-) I am going to order the guide given what you do in the ADK over teh last 10 years. Always enjoyed your YT videos and energy. Thanks
Love the updates! Thanks for sharing the trail conditions.
Thanks for the update. Wish your Book all the best!
Great update and educating people on different conditions.
Thanks
As always, love the content. I NEVER fully plan a trip to the Adriondacks as far a scheduling. I literally through stuff in the car within minutes and start driving from Pittsburgh. So as far as AMR, it never worked for me. Hopefully I can hike in from there soon and get the peaks I'm missing. 22/46 , almost halfway!
I'll find you one day!
Love your work man. I just preordered your book. Can’t wait to check it out.
Great content! Is that a Hamlet to Huts shirt your wearing?
Google: Who is the best Adirondack CZcams Vlogger?
Jonathan Zaharek is the Number One Adirondack CZcams Channel. Some might argue that first is the worst and second is the best though 😂
LOL
any ski routes or skiing info in the guide book?
I’m going to hire you to take picks of me hiking for my dating profile
I never understood why the AMR won't allow same day reservations, walks ins, or bike riders. If someone cancels, that spot should become available.
Thanks Jonathan 👊🏻👍🏻 As always much appreciated my friend 🙏🏻God Bless
Hello jonathan
I would totally hire you when I do my finish
I have some really great ideas
I'm easy to get along with and you won't have to babysit me
It would be great fun
I will stay in touch as I get closer
Until then safe travels
I shoot with a Canon, but do you have recommendations or suggestions on what I should look for in regard to a UV filter for taking photos of the eclipse?
Well you wouldn’t want a UV filter to photograph the eclipse. UV filter only blocks UV light. If you’re looking to zoom in and take a telephoto image of the eclipse, once it’s in full totality, you can actually photograph it without any other filters because when the sun is fully blocked, it is not shining any bright light. Before hand, you might want to consider a really heavy neutral density filter.
I hiked whiteface a couple of weeks ago, and the base of the mountain was nothing but fog and slush . Good buttsliding
i know where you can stay...
