Well for spiderman vs batman. I always thought it was because peter likes to play comic relief and not take things seriously at first. They did say the spider sense only works when he thought he was in danger. He was only hit at the start because he wasnt taking it seriously, but at around the part where he was blown off a building and kicked into a window, the spiderman start to get serious and fully felt threatened.
I'm super excited for the remasters, though it'd probably be better to space the releases out for more than a daily upload so they can all get the chance to breathe. This show impacted my life a lot and even if It's been dissapointing in some areas, I still love it. I look forward to seeing a modern day take on some like Hulk vs Doomsday especially, since that's my personal favorite and my other friends don't like the series. Godspeed, biff weed
The first death battle episode i watched was kirby vs majin boo which led me to watch the entire series, i still remember getting so mad when i watched Mario vs Sonic and Mario lost, same for luigi vs tails, felt really satisfying when the 2018 remake came around, recently had gone through a break up around that time and seeing one my favorite characters in fiction beat sonic just made that entire month so much better for me
Honestly if we got another MLP fight that wasn't Discord vs Bill Cipher, I would probably say I would like to possibly see The Scout from TF2 vs Rainbow Dash, two incredibly cocky speedsters who are known to often boast but still remain a loyal ally to their friends/teammates. While I'm pretty sure Rainbow wins this, though Scout could possibly win if you give him MVM Canteen and Spellbook Magazine, I personally want this for the fun possible interactions RD and Scout could have, like Scout wondering if Rainbow is something that found it's way out of Pyroland. As well as seeing Scout using his different unlocks creatively to try and catch Rainbow off guard such as him using combination of the Winger and Soda Popper to jump up to reach Rainbow in the air, while Rainbow makes use of her pegasus abilities like weather manipulation and her incredibly fast flying speed to keep Scout on his toes. Plus Scout and Rainbow deserve a chance of a better battle, both have far better opponents outside of their previous matchups but like I said, I would want this for the fun interactions.
Its fun coming back to these rankings every niw and then and hearing him hopeing for episodes like Bill vs Discord and Galactus vs Unicron, and now we have both of them in the same season

Rewatching this mostly because I was thinking about that whole thing with Rainbow Dash, the whole "If she would have lost, we wouldn't do the episode" thing and that is stupid on so many levels... 1. As you already said, if this was such an issue...why even do the matchup? "We don't want to murder a pony on the show, so lets add a pony to the show where they will potentially get murdered", how dumb were they back then? 2. By the logic of not wanting to traumatize children, Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Pokemon, etc shouldn't be on the show either. Yeah, MLP has a younger audience but kids, even kids that are MLP age still like the other series so you run the risk of traumatizing them by having them watch Sonic shred through Mario's back or having Peach kick Zelda's head off in a brutal MK like Fatality. You can't go "We don't want to show kids a character they like violently dying" and then show a ton of characters kids love being violently killed. They literally do the thing they are saying they want to avoid, why is Rainbow Dash any different when the same age group would also like Mario and Sonic? 3. This logic also shows just how uncreative they were back then because they apparently couldn't come up with a non violent death for Rainbow Dash. Starscream is a giant robot with laser guns, you mean to tell me you couldn't have Rainbow Dash simply be vaporized or flattened with out a puddle of blood? Kids play video games, they have seen fictional characters die, no kid is going to be traumatized by Rainbow Dash being turned into a pancake so the fact that they used to think "If a pony loses, we can't do that episode" means they literally could only think of violent deaths which is kind of odd because they had Riptor just land on a car and that's a way more violent character than Starscream or Rainbow Dash. A dinosaur that can rip you to threads gets a tame death but you can't make the pony have a tame death? 4. This logic also has a really unfortunate double standard here. They didn't want to have little girls see a pony get murdered...but are totally fine with little girls hearing the adult co-host talk about how he'd rape the female characters and drool all over them. So...rape jokes are fine for little girls...death isn't? And I can see an argument where little girls are more than likely going to find the episode with a character they know as opposed to a character older audiences enjoy but even if that was the case, after Rainbow Dash vs Starscream, they'd likely move on to another episode...where Boomstick is saying he'd sexually assault someone. I really don't understand what their mindset was here because they have rape jokes and a fucking pedo bear cameo but oh no, a rainbow pony could be shot to death, we can't show children that. 5. Somewhat on the same topic as four...why do you assume little girls, well, little kids in general would be watching your show or should be? Your show is about fictional characters killing each other in usually graphic ways and you also have no qualms about adding in sex jokes and having scantily clad female characters show up...so why in the hell would you ever expect or consider little kids watching this? That'd be like the creators of South Park worrying about kids being affected by their show, they aren't making a show for kids, kids will of course still find it but they aren't the intended audience so if they do find it, its the fault of the parents, not the creator. Surely Ben and Chad didn't think their show was for children with all that was previously mentioned...and if it was, then again, they are okay with exposing kids to sex and rape jokes and brutal murder...but they won't show them a cartoon pony dying... 6. Finally, and this makes Ben and Chad seem EXTREMELY hypocritical. They didn't want to kill Rainbow Dash in the show because they were worried about traumatizing kids...and yet they made an episode in this very same season that involved two real life kids and the entire episode revolved around them trying to kill each other and insulting them among other young singers. So to them, its wrong to murder a cartoon pony because it may scare the kiddies...but Ben and Chad themselves will happily bully two real life kids directly just because its popular to hate them. At the time of Season 1, Ben and Chad had more concern and care for Rainbow Dash, A CARTOON PONY, than two real people. Holy shit they seem like huge hypocritical idiots when I think about it. This logic makes no sense, especially with everything else they do. They really seem to have this odd mindset concerning MLP, its like the one series where they try to be careful with it or avoid it for some reason even though they clearly do other things kids shouldn't be seeing and happily murder other kid friendly characters. I don't get it at all, the more I hear about Death Battle when it comes to MLP, it just baffles and annoys me.
Honestly, I do get the point seeing as MLP is a show not just for kids, but, like, for babies. I agree they probably could figure out how to do a non-gorey death (as, indeed, they did later on, in Twilight VS Raven), but, yeah, they were a bit uncreative back then. I do think laying off the swearing and gore in the MLP episodes makes sense, but, yeah, they really should have been willing to let Rainbow lose.
No surprises on where Bieber VS Black, Goku VS Superman, Batman VS Spider-Man, Mario VS Sonic, and Eggman VS Wily are placed. Though what I'm surprised on more than anything on this list is where Bomberman VS Dig Dug was, I figured, like everyone else, they would just put it around the Bottom 5. My favorite of this season is a mix between Goku vs Superman and Shadow vs Vegita Edit: If Wiz doesn't say "That's Right Boomstick" at least once in Galctus vs Unicron, I will take 2 points off
My first Death Battle episode was Goomba VS Koopa, and even when I watched it back when it first came out, I knew it was one of the best episodes of Season 1.

I'd say my reasons for hating Zelda vs Peach is the soccer feat as well as the fact that despite mentioning Shiek, they really didn't seem to use any of their abilities even though in my mind they'd make pretty good difference in the fight. Since they rely heavily on Smash, considering how Shiek fights, its clear she's a better fighter than Peach so when it comes to the hand to hand fight, Zelda as Shiek should have dominated Peach. Add in the weapons like a chain whip, giant needles and deku nuts and I feel like that on top of Zelda's magical abilities would earn her the win. I mean she has a method to stun and blind Peach and she can use it more than the sheep thing yet they don't seem to consider it. Also since they focus on Smash, the fact that they didn't even mention that Shiek managed to jump onto an Arwing and punch through its canopy (that's the correct term, right?) bugs me too. She's fast enough to catch up to a space ship and damage it, a better fighter and has deadly weaponary and she loses because she got hit by a sheep and kicked by a grossly over estimated kick? I think this fight was the first one I heavily disagreed with. Others joined it but this is the first and one where I am completely confident that its wrong. Besides that, Nemesis mentioning how sexist Boomstick was also is a good thing to hate about it. I haven't watched it any time recently so its been a while since I have heard those jokes. Kid me wouldn't bat an eye but me now would find it kind of uncomfortable and since I know both Peach and ESPECIALLY Zelda aren't worthless, treating them as such would just piss me off. So I can easily see why its hated, wrong result, treating the characters like shit, Boomstick being an ass, gross overestimation of a feat. The animation is cool though. I also can't hate it for compositing Zelda since its a season one episode, they were pretty much doing that for everything. If they remastered it and still composited Zelda though I would be pissed. To be fair, I don't think there is any one version of Zelda that is an actual combatant since she usually plays support (besides Zelda in Smash, Hyrule Warriors and Cadence of Hyrule) but still, stop treating different versions of a character the same, do more Archie Sonic vs Wally and less Peach vs Zelda/Shredder vs Silver Samurai/Link vs Cloud in regards to smashing every version of a character into one.
@@theoneonlygreatbadr6002 Nope, Shiek is not a different person to Zelda, Shiek is merely a disguise that the Ocarina of time Zelda takes on with Super Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors following suit. While they tend to be separate characters, they're still the same person. Calling them different people would be like calling each different variation of Scorpion in MKX their own character. Shiek is just Zelda using a different move set, a move set that is totally applicable because she can magically turn into that form at will so why would you exclude everything Shiek has? Speaking of which, Death Battle even considered them the same as they brought up Shiek and Tetra, mentioning how they were simply disguises so Shiek was completely applicable to them, they just had shit research so they didn't consider the fighting skills this form would have, the weapons and since Brawl was allowed, the fact that Shiek managed to jump onto an Arwing and punch through it's canopy. With Shiek, Zelda would be a far better fighter than Peach (she should already though), she'd be a lot faster and I imagine stronger since she was able to punch through glass that could resist high speed travel and space travel (sounds more impressive than 'kicking a soccer ball into three pieces', something Peach doesn't even do) and she has a quick and reliable way to constantly stun and blind her with Deku Nuts.

It's an alter ego, Shiek literally reveals herself to be Zelda in Ocarina of time where she originated and Hyrule Warriors, what evidence is there that she's 'a different person'? Besides that this argument is meaningless because Death Battle themselves see them as the same so you're not only arguing against objective facts, you're arguing against Death Battles own logic.

I am more than surprised that people would not see Bieber vs Black as the worst episode of Death Battle. Fun fact: If you go on the Rooster Teeth website, it only shows 24 episodes of each season without having the need to click on "show more". Due to the botched sorting in this season, this episode ended up as the last on the list, so it's the only one hidden behind "show more" in that season. I still can't understand why people like the Link vs Cloud Rematch though. There are quite a few aspects that I think are unironically better in this season 1 fight: It is much easier to understand what's going on which is helped by the clearer visual style and the analysis is much more fun. So I can't agree that there's no reason to watch this over the rematch. It's just such a shame that it turned into one of the most controversial episodes and seemed to stay like that even when people started to calm down about Goku vs Superman. And considering a vocal part of the community still hating on Link when the rematch came out, they should have put more effort in that episode and especially characterising Link (since characterisation became much more important in the show). The character in this fight didn't feel like Link to me. Smash Bracket's Link vs Ridley might have other flaws, but the combatant really felt like it was Link. While not necessarily impressive, if you keep the different style back then in mind, pretty much all of season 1 is still worth checking out.

It also conveys a beautiful message as well(best understood if you watch the oxob and gildedguys other fights before gildedguy vs oxob)

IIRC Vegeta vs Mewtwo/Death Battle vs Silvermania is also terrible because it also spited real people, and people who were doing a passion project. It was a bonus episode, but still.
shang tsung needs to come back to deathbattle. I would say queen chrysalis vs shang tsung but that's a stomp. I think the perfect match for shang is shang tsung vs chase young from Xailon chronicles
25. Bomberman vs Dig Dug is genuinely awful. The animation was abysmal, it was boring as fuck, and nothing interesting happens throughout the entire fight. The death was also terrible. They had a perfect opportunity for a great death where Dig Dug blew Bomberman up with the pump, but then Dig Dug just dips and Bomberman dies to his own bomb. It's easily one of the most abrupt and unsatisfying deaths in the entire series. Overall this episode is easily my second least favorite in the entire series, Mewtwo vs Shadow still takes the number one spot though. I think that your past self might've had some good taste ngl. 0/10 24. Justin Bieber vs Rebecca Black is a dated piece of shit. The entire episode felt very mean-spirited, and it was just one big dead meme. The animation isn't interesting at all either. Overall this episode isn't funny, it isn't enjoyable, it's just awful. 0/10 23. Goomba vs Koopa is one of the most boring things I've ever seen in my entire life. The entire fight is just two pngs slamming into each other, and it just isn't interesting at all. I didn't find it very funny, the action was aggressively lame, and the cop-out ending was also really lame. Overall this episode is awful and it's easily one of the worst episodes of the entire show. 1/10 22. Yoshi vs Riptor is fucking awful. The animation is boring as hell, nothing happens, and the sprites clash horribly. The animation is really static and repetitive, and overall this episode is just so bad. 1/10 21. Luke Skywalker vs Harry Potter is terrible. The animation is boring as fuck, the matchup doesn't lend itself well for animation potential and it really showed because this is one of the most boring animations in the entire series. The character bastardization is also very strong in this one. The fact that Harry even used Avada Kadabra at all, let alone immediately when the fight started shows that they have about as much understanding of Harry's character as Torrian Crawford (he saw "the one with the snake"). Character bastardization doesn't bother me when it's a character that I don't know or care about like Grey, Esdeath, or Ryuko, but I actually know and like Harry so the bastardization of his character really bothered me. His voice acting also sounded absolutely nothing like him. 1/10 20. Boba Fett vs Samus was not a great way to start the show. The analysis was mostly just white noise, but the fight fucking sucked. It's so aggressively lame in pretty much everyway. Nothing interesting happens, the fight is short as hell, and the death was shithouse. Fett's head was still completely intact after Samus blasted it off. The analysis does have some charm, but I get no enjoyment from the animation, and the animation is what I'm mostly looking forward to in an episode of Death Battle. 1/10 19. Felicia vs Taokaka is really bad. The animation is really boring and repetitive, and it's easily one of the most forgettable episodes of the entire series. 2/10 18. Master Chief vs Doom Guy isn't interesting at all. The fight is slow and boring as hell. I'm honestly running out of things to say about these godforsaken episodes. This episode is just so fucking boring. 2/10 17. Vegeta vs Shadow is also incredibly boring. I know a lot of people praise the dialogue in this episode, but it was nothing special to me for the most part. The sayonara line was pretty great though. The fight was really slow and boring as a result of the constant talking and it just wasn't enjoyable to watch. 2/10 16. Chun-Li vs Mai is the most forgettable episode of the entire show. I legitimately remember nothing about this episode. There was some decently fast paced action, but the fight was still really bland and uninteresting. 3/10 15. Mario vs Sonic started and ended decently enough, but from the single frame montage to when Sonic and Mario went Super and Metal, the fight was genuinely awful and I hated it. It was slow, boring, and just not entertaining at all. I have no clue why people say this is better than the remake, because this episode fucking sucks. 3/10 14. Akuma vs Shang Tsung is so fucking boring. There were some decently fast paced moments, but for the most part the fight is just as boring and just as visually unappealing as most other season 1 episodes. I don't hate it, but it's still really bad. 3/10
13. Rogue vs Wonder Woman isn't very good, but it's not the abomination that everyone says it is. The horny Boomstick jokes got pretty old, but the animation was okay for season 1. It's decently fast paced and it isn't as painfully boring as the two that preceded it, but it's still not that great. 4/10 12. Haggar vs Zangief is not very good. There's some good pacing, but the fight was really short and not a lot happened in it. The scene where they wandered around the building and threw things out of it brought the pace of the fight down to a screeching halt as well. The Pedobear cameo is cursed as fuck though. Overall it's not terrible, but it's still kinda bad. 4/10 11. Zitz vs Leonardo is mediocre at best. The action is actually pretty fast paced and decently entertaining, but it's so fucking short. Not much happens in the animation and it felt really rushed. 4/10 10. The Ninja Turtle Battle Royale is the only Ben animated episode that I have any nostalgia for, because for some reason I watched this episode a lot when I was a child. The action was actually really fast paced all throughout, but since this episode was blocked worldwide, I had to watch a Spanish subtitled version of it and I don't know if it was the reupload's fault or not, but this episode might actually be the blurriest out of all the Ben animated episodes. Unfortunately that does hold it back from ranking any higher, along with some other things. Mikey was disrespected hardcore in this episode as he was instantly killed off in the animation, they shit talked him throughout the entire analysis, and Wiz even called him a retard! Along with that, this fight is not a very good idea conceptually. The idea of the Turtles murdering each other is really morbid, and the setup for the fight did it no favors. There was no explanation for why they wanted to murder each other all of the sudden despite being brothers and best friends for their entire lives, it just immediately starts with them getting ready to charge at each other. It felt incredibly jarring and it led to the episode having some of the worst character bastardization in the series. Overall this episode is okay, but still pretty flawed. 5/10 9. Kratos vs Spawn isn't that bad. The fight is decently fast paced and entertaining. Overall I'm really running out of things to say about these episodes, but that doesn't mean this one is bad by any means. 5/10 8. Starscream vs Rainbow Dash is easily one of the more enjoyable Ben Singer episodes to me. The banter in the fight was pretty entertaining and the dialogue heavy fight was honestly done way better here than in Shadow vs Vegeta. It's not great by any means, but still not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. 5/10 7. Eggman vs Wily is about as good as the Ben Singer episodes can get, which isn't saying much honestly. The fight animation was enjoyable at points, and the large roster of characters made for a really unique and creative fight, but a lot of the time it felt kinda slow, and at points it felt like it dragged. I was honestly pretty bored a lot of the time, and the low quality animation does it no favors. Overall this episode is up there as one of the most overrated episodes of all time. 5/10 6. Pikachu vs Blanka was pretty bland. The fight was really short and hardly anything happened in it, but at least the animation quality is actually fairly decent unlike the 19 fights that it is above. 5/10 5. Link vs Cloud really isn't that bad. Almost everyone I've heard talk about this episode has called it one of the worst episodes in the series, and some people have even got pissed at me for liking this episode, but I enjoyed this episode infinitely more most of the season. The animation was pretty janky, but it was still fast paced and well choreographed. Overall it's not even on the same plane of existence as the remake, but it's not the monstrosity that everyone says it is. 6/10 4. Princess Peach vs Zelda is pretty good. The animation quality was good, and the fight was pretty entertaining. Overall I don't have much to say about this episode, but it's easily one of the best season 1 episodes. 6/10 3. Thor vs Raiden is really good and it felt like a massive breath of fresh air after all the episodes that I watched before it ranged from decent to fucking horrendous. The animation was great and the fight had a phenomenal sense of momentum thanks to the 3D background. The sprites looked really cool on the 3D background and it made the action even more fun to watch. Every hit had a ton of impact and the animation pulled the herculean task of using the shitty classic Mortal Kombat sprites well. Overall this fight was great, and easily one of the biggest highlights in the otherwise dire season. 8/10 2. Batman vs Spider-Man is pretty great. The action is really fast paced all throughout, and there was never a dull moment. It has that high octane feel that a lot of Jordon Lange's fights have and I love it so much. The death was fucking amazing as well. The animation was unfortunately really blurry compared to his previous two episodes, but it was still a great episode. 8/10 1. Goku vs Superman is an absolute masterpiece of an episode that still holds up to this day. The graphics are pretty aged, but the fight is still an absolute blast from start to finish. The action was insanely fast paced and high octane, and there is never a dull moment. The dialogue and banter are also great in this episode, and the fight uses nearly every single ability that the two have, and it makes for a fight that feels more special than any other in the entire series. The fight is nearly 10 minutes long and it never feels boring at any point. The ending of the fight was absolutely incredible and it never fails to give me chills. Everything about this ending makes it one of the most cinematic moments in the entire series. It's easily up there with Yoda vs King Mickey and Ironman vs Lex Luthor for having one of the best endings in the series. Overall this episode is easily in my top 15 favorites of all time, and I don't expect it to ever lose that title. 10/10 Overall this season was a slog to get through, and it is without question the worst season of Death Battle, even season 3 is better than this by leaps and bounds. I only like 5 episodes out of the 25 in this entire season, and I was genuinely miserable while watching the Ben Singer era of animations. The animation looks like it's straight out of an episode of the CFC Ultimate Showdown, and it just isn't fun to watch. I know a lot of people love this season because of nostalgia or whatever, but the only episodes of this season that I have any nostalgia for are the Ninja Turtle Royale and Goku vs Superman. The first episode of Death Battle I ever saw was literally Hulk vs Doomsday, and as you can imagine, I never liked season 1, not even as a child. To go from the god-tier masterpiece that Hulk vs Doomsday was to whatever the fuck Bomberman vs Dig Dug was did not do this season any favors. I didn't even find the season that charming really, it was just shit, and I really didn't have a fun time watching it. I tried to give a lot of leeway to this season since it was literally the first one, but unfortunately I still didn't like it. At least we won't get anything as bad as it ever again.
hmm... Looking back I think I'd definitely rank Bieber vs Black as the worst episode, and it is also the only one that I'd give a 0/10. Bomberman vs Dig Dug is lame and does absolutely nothing for me, but at least it isn't offensive. I'd also rank Luke vs Harry as my third least favorite since the fight is not only boring with no cool moments aside from Luke tearing open Harry's scar, but they completely butchered Harry's character just as bad if not worse than Aang. I also bumped Boba Fett vs Samus up to a 2/10 since it's the first episode of the whole show and you gotta give them credit for that I guess, and Chun-Li vs Mai is the worst of the 3/10's by far since at least Vegeta vs Shadow has some moments that stuck with me. Starscream vs Rainbow Dash would be the worst of the 5/10's along with Pikachu vs Blanka since it was literally rigged and would have been cancelled if Rainbow Dash lost and Pikachu vs Blanka is just bland as hell. I would also bump the Turtle Royale and Eggman vs Wily to 6/10's since I actually kinda like them despite the bad animation quality. Finally, even though Batman vs Spider-Man and Thor vs Raiden are both great, I think Thor vs Raiden slightly edges it out looking back. Still hate this season, but at least it gave us the timeless masterpiece that is Goku vs Superman.

This is worse than downright lowballing a character or getting something wrong about them. This is downright cyberbullying two real life people, which is even worse considering that they were kids when this was released

Wait hold up, they were in the right to not make Starscream win against Rainbow Dash simply to not scare little girls, but were in the right to brutally Mangle Ben 10? I'm done with Death Battle. This pisses me off even more due to the fact that when I first saw it as when I was 5 Years Old, I nearly cried seeing Mario, arguably my icon and role model in life at that time be brutally mangled. That that absolutely traumatized me. Same went for Starscream, I almost cried for him despite me not even knowing him at that time. I probably only knew him due to the fact I liked Transformers at that time.
Very minor nitpick, but there is a reason they didn't have Doomguy use the Unmaker: In the analysis, they said it feeds off the demonic energies of its target for the destructive power. Therefore against a non-demonic target like Master Chief, it would do nothing. Now for Spartan Laser, that's another thing.
I wrote this over 2 years ago so I can’t remember if this was exactly my thought process, but I think I meant something along the lines of “it’s a shame it wasn’t something they could have him use because it wouldn’t work” or “I wish Doomguy found out that it wouldn’t work by using it and having it fail.” Either way could’ve definitely worded it better and probably shouldn’t have brought it up in the same sentence as the Spartan Laser.

Well for spiderman vs batman. I always thought it was because peter likes to play comic relief and not take things seriously at first. They did say the spider sense only works when he thought he was in danger. He was only hit at the start because he wasnt taking it seriously, but at around the part where he was blown off a building and kicked into a window, the spiderman start to get serious and fully felt threatened.

I'm super excited for the remasters, though it'd probably be better to space the releases out for more than a daily upload so they can all get the chance to breathe. This show impacted my life a lot and even if It's been dissapointing in some areas, I still love it.
I look forward to seeing a modern day take on some like Hulk vs Doomsday especially, since that's my personal favorite and my other friends don't like the series.

The first death battle episode i watched was kirby vs majin boo which led me to watch the entire series, i still remember getting so mad when i watched Mario vs Sonic and Mario lost, same for luigi vs tails, felt really satisfying when the 2018 remake came around, recently had gone through a break up around that time and seeing one my favorite characters in fiction beat sonic just made that entire month so much better for me

Honestly if we got another MLP fight that wasn't Discord vs Bill Cipher, I would probably say I would like to possibly see The Scout from TF2 vs Rainbow Dash, two incredibly cocky speedsters who are known to often boast but still remain a loyal ally to their friends/teammates.
While I'm pretty sure Rainbow wins this, though Scout could possibly win if you give him MVM Canteen and Spellbook Magazine, I personally want this for the fun possible interactions RD and Scout could have, like Scout wondering if Rainbow is something that found it's way out of Pyroland. As well as seeing Scout using his different unlocks creatively to try and catch Rainbow off guard such as him using combination of the Winger and Soda Popper to jump up to reach Rainbow in the air, while Rainbow makes use of her pegasus abilities like weather manipulation and her incredibly fast flying speed to keep Scout on his toes.
Plus Scout and Rainbow deserve a chance of a better battle, both have far better opponents outside of their previous matchups but like I said, I would want this for the fun interactions.
Its fun coming back to these rankings every niw and then and hearing him hopeing for episodes like Bill vs Discord and Galactus vs Unicron, and now we have both of them in the same season

Rewatching this mostly because I was thinking about that whole thing with Rainbow Dash, the whole "If she would have lost, we wouldn't do the episode" thing and that is stupid on so many levels...
1. As you already said, if this was such an issue...why even do the matchup? "We don't want to murder a pony on the show, so lets add a pony to the show where they will potentially get murdered", how dumb were they back then?
2. By the logic of not wanting to traumatize children, Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Pokemon, etc shouldn't be on the show either. Yeah, MLP has a younger audience but kids, even kids that are MLP age still like the other series so you run the risk of traumatizing them by having them watch Sonic shred through Mario's back or having Peach kick Zelda's head off in a brutal MK like Fatality. You can't go "We don't want to show kids a character they like violently dying" and then show a ton of characters kids love being violently killed. They literally do the thing they are saying they want to avoid, why is Rainbow Dash any different when the same age group would also like Mario and Sonic?
3. This logic also shows just how uncreative they were back then because they apparently couldn't come up with a non violent death for Rainbow Dash. Starscream is a giant robot with laser guns, you mean to tell me you couldn't have Rainbow Dash simply be vaporized or flattened with out a puddle of blood? Kids play video games, they have seen fictional characters die, no kid is going to be traumatized by Rainbow Dash being turned into a pancake so the fact that they used to think "If a pony loses, we can't do that episode" means they literally could only think of violent deaths which is kind of odd because they had Riptor just land on a car and that's a way more violent character than Starscream or Rainbow Dash. A dinosaur that can rip you to threads gets a tame death but you can't make the pony have a tame death?
4. This logic also has a really unfortunate double standard here. They didn't want to have little girls see a pony get murdered...but are totally fine with little girls hearing the adult co-host talk about how he'd rape the female characters and drool all over them. So...rape jokes are fine for little girls...death isn't? And I can see an argument where little girls are more than likely going to find the episode with a character they know as opposed to a character older audiences enjoy but even if that was the case, after Rainbow Dash vs Starscream, they'd likely move on to another episode...where Boomstick is saying he'd sexually assault someone. I really don't understand what their mindset was here because they have rape jokes and a fucking pedo bear cameo but oh no, a rainbow pony could be shot to death, we can't show children that.
5. Somewhat on the same topic as four...why do you assume little girls, well, little kids in general would be watching your show or should be? Your show is about fictional characters killing each other in usually graphic ways and you also have no qualms about adding in sex jokes and having scantily clad female characters show up...so why in the hell would you ever expect or consider little kids watching this? That'd be like the creators of South Park worrying about kids being affected by their show, they aren't making a show for kids, kids will of course still find it but they aren't the intended audience so if they do find it, its the fault of the parents, not the creator. Surely Ben and Chad didn't think their show was for children with all that was previously mentioned...and if it was, then again, they are okay with exposing kids to sex and rape jokes and brutal murder...but they won't show them a cartoon pony dying...
6. Finally, and this makes Ben and Chad seem EXTREMELY hypocritical. They didn't want to kill Rainbow Dash in the show because they were worried about traumatizing kids...and yet they made an episode in this very same season that involved two real life kids and the entire episode revolved around them trying to kill each other and insulting them among other young singers. So to them, its wrong to murder a cartoon pony because it may scare the kiddies...but Ben and Chad themselves will happily bully two real life kids directly just because its popular to hate them. At the time of Season 1, Ben and Chad had more concern and care for Rainbow Dash, A CARTOON PONY, than two real people.
Holy shit they seem like huge hypocritical idiots when I think about it. This logic makes no sense, especially with everything else they do. They really seem to have this odd mindset concerning MLP, its like the one series where they try to be careful with it or avoid it for some reason even though they clearly do other things kids shouldn't be seeing and happily murder other kid friendly characters. I don't get it at all, the more I hear about Death Battle when it comes to MLP, it just baffles and annoys me.
Honestly, I do get the point seeing as MLP is a show not just for kids, but, like, for babies. I agree they probably could figure out how to do a non-gorey death (as, indeed, they did later on, in Twilight VS Raven), but, yeah, they were a bit uncreative back then. I do think laying off the swearing and gore in the MLP episodes makes sense, but, yeah, they really should have been willing to let Rainbow lose.

I'd say my reasons for hating Zelda vs Peach is the soccer feat as well as the fact that despite mentioning Shiek, they really didn't seem to use any of their abilities even though in my mind they'd make pretty good difference in the fight. Since they rely heavily on Smash, considering how Shiek fights, its clear she's a better fighter than Peach so when it comes to the hand to hand fight, Zelda as Shiek should have dominated Peach. Add in the weapons like a chain whip, giant needles and deku nuts and I feel like that on top of Zelda's magical abilities would earn her the win. I mean she has a method to stun and blind Peach and she can use it more than the sheep thing yet they don't seem to consider it. Also since they focus on Smash, the fact that they didn't even mention that Shiek managed to jump onto an Arwing and punch through its canopy (that's the correct term, right?) bugs me too. She's fast enough to catch up to a space ship and damage it, a better fighter and has deadly weaponary and she loses because she got hit by a sheep and kicked by a grossly over estimated kick? I think this fight was the first one I heavily disagreed with. Others joined it but this is the first and one where I am completely confident that its wrong. Besides that, Nemesis mentioning how sexist Boomstick was also is a good thing to hate about it. I haven't watched it any time recently so its been a while since I have heard those jokes. Kid me wouldn't bat an eye but me now would find it kind of uncomfortable and since I know both Peach and ESPECIALLY Zelda aren't worthless, treating them as such would just piss me off. So I can easily see why its hated, wrong result, treating the characters like shit, Boomstick being an ass, gross overestimation of a feat. The animation is cool though. I also can't hate it for compositing Zelda since its a season one episode, they were pretty much doing that for everything. If they remastered it and still composited Zelda though I would be pissed. To be fair, I don't think there is any one version of Zelda that is an actual combatant since she usually plays support (besides Zelda in Smash, Hyrule Warriors and Cadence of Hyrule) but still, stop treating different versions of a character the same, do more Archie Sonic vs Wally and less Peach vs Zelda/Shredder vs Silver Samurai/Link vs Cloud in regards to smashing every version of a character into one.

@@theoneonlygreatbadr6002 Nope, Shiek is not a different person to Zelda, Shiek is merely a disguise that the Ocarina of time Zelda takes on with Super Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors following suit. While they tend to be separate characters, they're still the same person. Calling them different people would be like calling each different variation of Scorpion in MKX their own character. Shiek is just Zelda using a different move set, a move set that is totally applicable because she can magically turn into that form at will so why would you exclude everything Shiek has? Speaking of which, Death Battle even considered them the same as they brought up Shiek and Tetra, mentioning how they were simply disguises so Shiek was completely applicable to them, they just had shit research so they didn't consider the fighting skills this form would have, the weapons and since Brawl was allowed, the fact that Shiek managed to jump onto an Arwing and punch through it's canopy. With Shiek, Zelda would be a far better fighter than Peach (she should already though), she'd be a lot faster and I imagine stronger since she was able to punch through glass that could resist high speed travel and space travel (sounds more impressive than 'kicking a soccer ball into three pieces', something Peach doesn't even do) and she has a quick and reliable way to constantly stun and blind her with Deku Nuts.

I am more than surprised that people would not see Bieber vs Black as the worst episode of Death Battle. Fun fact: If you go on the Rooster Teeth website, it only shows 24 episodes of each season without having the need to click on "show more". Due to the botched sorting in this season, this episode ended up as the last on the list, so it's the only one hidden behind "show more" in that season.
I still can't understand why people like the Link vs Cloud Rematch though. There are quite a few aspects that I think are unironically better in this season 1 fight: It is much easier to understand what's going on which is helped by the clearer visual style and the analysis is much more fun. So I can't agree that there's no reason to watch this over the rematch. It's just such a shame that it turned into one of the most controversial episodes and seemed to stay like that even when people started to calm down about Goku vs Superman. And considering a vocal part of the community still hating on Link when the rematch came out, they should have put more effort in that episode and especially characterising Link (since characterisation became much more important in the show). The character in this fight didn't feel like Link to me. Smash Bracket's Link vs Ridley might have other flaws, but the combatant really felt like it was Link.
While not necessarily impressive, if you keep the different style back then in mind, pretty much all of season 1 is still worth checking out.

25. Bomberman vs Dig Dug is genuinely awful. The animation was abysmal, it was boring as fuck, and nothing interesting happens throughout the entire fight. The death was also terrible. They had a perfect opportunity for a great death where Dig Dug blew Bomberman up with the pump, but then Dig Dug just dips and Bomberman dies to his own bomb. It's easily one of the most abrupt and unsatisfying deaths in the entire series. Overall this episode is easily my second least favorite in the entire series, Mewtwo vs Shadow still takes the number one spot though. I think that your past self might've had some good taste ngl. 0/10
24. Justin Bieber vs Rebecca Black is a dated piece of shit. The entire episode felt very mean-spirited, and it was just one big dead meme. The animation isn't interesting at all either. Overall this episode isn't funny, it isn't enjoyable, it's just awful. 0/10
23. Goomba vs Koopa is one of the most boring things I've ever seen in my entire life. The entire fight is just two pngs slamming into each other, and it just isn't interesting at all. I didn't find it very funny, the action was aggressively lame, and the cop-out ending was also really lame. Overall this episode is awful and it's easily one of the worst episodes of the entire show. 1/10
22. Yoshi vs Riptor is fucking awful. The animation is boring as hell, nothing happens, and the sprites clash horribly. The animation is really static and repetitive, and overall this episode is just so bad. 1/10
21. Luke Skywalker vs Harry Potter is terrible. The animation is boring as fuck, the matchup doesn't lend itself well for animation potential and it really showed because this is one of the most boring animations in the entire series. The character bastardization is also very strong in this one. The fact that Harry even used Avada Kadabra at all, let alone immediately when the fight started shows that they have about as much understanding of Harry's character as Torrian Crawford (he saw "the one with the snake"). Character bastardization doesn't bother me when it's a character that I don't know or care about like Grey, Esdeath, or Ryuko, but I actually know and like Harry so the bastardization of his character really bothered me. His voice acting also sounded absolutely nothing like him. 1/10
20. Boba Fett vs Samus was not a great way to start the show. The analysis was mostly just white noise, but the fight fucking sucked. It's so aggressively lame in pretty much everyway. Nothing interesting happens, the fight is short as hell, and the death was shithouse. Fett's head was still completely intact after Samus blasted it off. The analysis does have some charm, but I get no enjoyment from the animation, and the animation is what I'm mostly looking forward to in an episode of Death Battle. 1/10
19. Felicia vs Taokaka is really bad. The animation is really boring and repetitive, and it's easily one of the most forgettable episodes of the entire series. 2/10
18. Master Chief vs Doom Guy isn't interesting at all. The fight is slow and boring as hell. I'm honestly running out of things to say about these godforsaken episodes. This episode is just so fucking boring. 2/10
17. Vegeta vs Shadow is also incredibly boring. I know a lot of people praise the dialogue in this episode, but it was nothing special to me for the most part. The sayonara line was pretty great though. The fight was really slow and boring as a result of the constant talking and it just wasn't enjoyable to watch. 2/10
16. Chun-Li vs Mai is the most forgettable episode of the entire show. I legitimately remember nothing about this episode. There was some decently fast paced action, but the fight was still really bland and uninteresting. 3/10
15. Mario vs Sonic started and ended decently enough, but from the single frame montage to when Sonic and Mario went Super and Metal, the fight was genuinely awful and I hated it. It was slow, boring, and just not entertaining at all. I have no clue why people say this is better than the remake, because this episode fucking sucks. 3/10
14. Akuma vs Shang Tsung is so fucking boring. There were some decently fast paced moments, but for the most part the fight is just as boring and just as visually unappealing as most other season 1 episodes. I don't hate it, but it's still really bad. 3/10
13. Rogue vs Wonder Woman isn't very good, but it's not the abomination that everyone says it is. The horny Boomstick jokes got pretty old, but the animation was okay for season 1. It's decently fast paced and it isn't as painfully boring as the two that preceded it, but it's still not that great. 4/10
12. Haggar vs Zangief is not very good. There's some good pacing, but the fight was really short and not a lot happened in it. The scene where they wandered around the building and threw things out of it brought the pace of the fight down to a screeching halt as well. The Pedobear cameo is cursed as fuck though. Overall it's not terrible, but it's still kinda bad. 4/10
11. Zitz vs Leonardo is mediocre at best. The action is actually pretty fast paced and decently entertaining, but it's so fucking short. Not much happens in the animation and it felt really rushed. 4/10
10. The Ninja Turtle Battle Royale is the only Ben animated episode that I have any nostalgia for, because for some reason I watched this episode a lot when I was a child. The action was actually really fast paced all throughout, but since this episode was blocked worldwide, I had to watch a Spanish subtitled version of it and I don't know if it was the reupload's fault or not, but this episode might actually be the blurriest out of all the Ben animated episodes. Unfortunately that does hold it back from ranking any higher, along with some other things. Mikey was disrespected hardcore in this episode as he was instantly killed off in the animation, they shit talked him throughout the entire analysis, and Wiz even called him a retard! Along with that, this fight is not a very good idea conceptually. The idea of the Turtles murdering each other is really morbid, and the setup for the fight did it no favors. There was no explanation for why they wanted to murder each other all of the sudden despite being brothers and best friends for their entire lives, it just immediately starts with them getting ready to charge at each other. It felt incredibly jarring and it led to the episode having some of the worst character bastardization in the series. Overall this episode is okay, but still pretty flawed. 5/10
9. Kratos vs Spawn isn't that bad. The fight is decently fast paced and entertaining. Overall I'm really running out of things to say about these episodes, but that doesn't mean this one is bad by any means. 5/10
8. Starscream vs Rainbow Dash is easily one of the more enjoyable Ben Singer episodes to me. The banter in the fight was pretty entertaining and the dialogue heavy fight was honestly done way better here than in Shadow vs Vegeta. It's not great by any means, but still not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. 5/10
7. Eggman vs Wily is about as good as the Ben Singer episodes can get, which isn't saying much honestly. The fight animation was enjoyable at points, and the large roster of characters made for a really unique and creative fight, but a lot of the time it felt kinda slow, and at points it felt like it dragged. I was honestly pretty bored a lot of the time, and the low quality animation does it no favors. Overall this episode is up there as one of the most overrated episodes of all time. 5/10
6. Pikachu vs Blanka was pretty bland. The fight was really short and hardly anything happened in it, but at least the animation quality is actually fairly decent unlike the 19 fights that it is above. 5/10
5. Link vs Cloud really isn't that bad. Almost everyone I've heard talk about this episode has called it one of the worst episodes in the series, and some people have even got pissed at me for liking this episode, but I enjoyed this episode infinitely more most of the season. The animation was pretty janky, but it was still fast paced and well choreographed. Overall it's not even on the same plane of existence as the remake, but it's not the monstrosity that everyone says it is. 6/10
4. Princess Peach vs Zelda is pretty good. The animation quality was good, and the fight was pretty entertaining. Overall I don't have much to say about this episode, but it's easily one of the best season 1 episodes. 6/10
3. Thor vs Raiden is really good and it felt like a massive breath of fresh air after all the episodes that I watched before it ranged from decent to fucking horrendous. The animation was great and the fight had a phenomenal sense of momentum thanks to the 3D background. The sprites looked really cool on the 3D background and it made the action even more fun to watch. Every hit had a ton of impact and the animation pulled the herculean task of using the shitty classic Mortal Kombat sprites well. Overall this fight was great, and easily one of the biggest highlights in the otherwise dire season. 8/10
2. Batman vs Spider-Man is pretty great. The action is really fast paced all throughout, and there was never a dull moment. It has that high octane feel that a lot of Jordon Lange's fights have and I love it so much. The death was fucking amazing as well. The animation was unfortunately really blurry compared to his previous two episodes, but it was still a great episode. 8/10
1. Goku vs Superman is an absolute masterpiece of an episode that still holds up to this day. The graphics are pretty aged, but the fight is still an absolute blast from start to finish. The action was insanely fast paced and high octane, and there is never a dull moment. The dialogue and banter are also great in this episode, and the fight uses nearly every single ability that the two have, and it makes for a fight that feels more special than any other in the entire series. The fight is nearly 10 minutes long and it never feels boring at any point. The ending of the fight was absolutely incredible and it never fails to give me chills. Everything about this ending makes it one of the most cinematic moments in the entire series. It's easily up there with Yoda vs King Mickey and Ironman vs Lex Luthor for having one of the best endings in the series. Overall this episode is easily in my top 15 favorites of all time, and I don't expect it to ever lose that title. 10/10
Overall this season was a slog to get through, and it is without question the worst season of Death Battle, even season 3 is better than this by leaps and bounds. I only like 5 episodes out of the 25 in this entire season, and I was genuinely miserable while watching the Ben Singer era of animations. The animation looks like it's straight out of an episode of the CFC Ultimate Showdown, and it just isn't fun to watch. I know a lot of people love this season because of nostalgia or whatever, but the only episodes of this season that I have any nostalgia for are the Ninja Turtle Royale and Goku vs Superman. The first episode of Death Battle I ever saw was literally Hulk vs Doomsday, and as you can imagine, I never liked season 1, not even as a child. To go from the god-tier masterpiece that Hulk vs Doomsday was to whatever the fuck Bomberman vs Dig Dug was did not do this season any favors. I didn't even find the season that charming really, it was just shit, and I really didn't have a fun time watching it. I tried to give a lot of leeway to this season since it was literally the first one, but unfortunately I still didn't like it. At least we won't get anything as bad as it ever again.
hmm... Looking back I think I'd definitely rank Bieber vs Black as the worst episode, and it is also the only one that I'd give a 0/10. Bomberman vs Dig Dug is lame and does absolutely nothing for me, but at least it isn't offensive. I'd also rank Luke vs Harry as my third least favorite since the fight is not only boring with no cool moments aside from Luke tearing open Harry's scar, but they completely butchered Harry's character just as bad if not worse than Aang. I also bumped Boba Fett vs Samus up to a 2/10 since it's the first episode of the whole show and you gotta give them credit for that I guess, and Chun-Li vs Mai is the worst of the 3/10's by far since at least Vegeta vs Shadow has some moments that stuck with me. Starscream vs Rainbow Dash would be the worst of the 5/10's along with Pikachu vs Blanka since it was literally rigged and would have been cancelled if Rainbow Dash lost and Pikachu vs Blanka is just bland as hell. I would also bump the Turtle Royale and Eggman vs Wily to 6/10's since I actually kinda like them despite the bad animation quality. Finally, even though Batman vs Spider-Man and Thor vs Raiden are both great, I think Thor vs Raiden slightly edges it out looking back. Still hate this season, but at least it gave us the timeless masterpiece that is Goku vs Superman.

This pisses me off even more due to the fact that when I first saw it as when I was 5 Years Old, I nearly cried seeing Mario, arguably my icon and role model in life at that time be brutally mangled. That that absolutely traumatized me. Same went for Starscream, I almost cried for him despite me not even knowing him at that time. I probably only knew him due to the fact I liked Transformers at that time.
I'd probably only disagree with starscream versus rainbow Dash. To me, it's pretty nostalgic.
Very minor nitpick, but there is a reason they didn't have Doomguy use the Unmaker: In the analysis, they said it feeds off the demonic energies of its target for the destructive power. Therefore against a non-demonic target like Master Chief, it would do nothing. Now for Spartan Laser, that's another thing.
